To Our One Piece Fam Regarding Spoilers!

Hey Crew!

We just want to reassure you that we take staying non-spoiled very seriously. We generally just skim the comments after some time and read the ones with high likes and the ones with kind words for us. (we also have someone with access looking for malicious spoiling). We have apparently accidentally hit on a popular fan theory. Just know that we still think it's crazy and unlikely 😂 but the thought naturally crossed our minds after seeing that unique flag. The comment we read definitely called our attention to the term "they", but we assumed that was a language/translation issue that needed clarifying and we appreciated it. We do our very best and you can trust us to stay honest with you about what we read. We're so thankful for the care and passion for keeping us safe from spoilers!
That said, PLEASE be more careful with a couple of things. Confirming or denying our theories does feel spoilery to us. Unless we're completely discounting or misremembering facts, (which has/will happen) try to refrain from this pretty please! As well as trying not to infer your likes/dislikes of characters before we have reason to form those opinions ourselves. (The major love for Bon Clay while he's supposed to be a "villain" for example.) Of course NOW we understand 💖 but these are the only types of comments that we feel have affected our journey so far.
Thank you for being so amazing and receptive towards us! We love this community/fanbase SO much!! See you all in a few!
-Haylo & Kiss 💕

P.S. Fallout will be uploaded today and tomorrow. We'll speed those along!

Comments

I cant stand attention seeking smartasses who makes obviously veiled comments that definitely sound like hints or *nudge* *nudge* jokes....read the room 🙄 theyre trying to get ahead of reactors even before they experience which just shows they either want that reactor to have the same opinion as them or theyre not as confident that One Piece will do a satisfactory job....it literally like a friend who is making you watch something and say stuff like "HERE, HERE you need to pay ATTENTION here, this is an important scene, dont blink, go to the restroom later" 🙄🙄🙄

boredbeck

this makes perfect sense! i dont anyone who truly watches anime would argue that. you guys are fantastic and i cant wait for moreeee <3

Kaden Koennecke

I pray you continue this journey spoiler free! And I gotta say with the odd unintentional spoiler comment I've seen here or there, I'm so impressed with the support from community here! Shows how much we enjoy your content :) It's amazing 🥹

rina.

I was hoping yall would have someone vet the comments for you, so I'm glad that's a thing. I 100% agree that's it's easy for people to forget that they need to act like this is their first time watching too. "I can't wait for this arc", "he gets better", etc. All unintentionally confirm or deny the existence of a character returning/not returning as well. I'm glad you're addressing this and can't wait for more One Piece!!

Mawb

I agree that there should be no name calling etc, when it’s such an uplifting show and such a good community especially; but I think a lot of people are so frustrated because this isn’t their first rodeo lmao. I personally still didn’t comment anything personally mean, but i CAN understand why people have gotten to that point after watching multiple reactions to the show where the reactor gets badly spoiled. I wouldn’t call it witch-hunting so much as sheer frustration. I do agree tho, all love ladies u the best

Jamie

They like to think they are clever, lol. Imagine paying for a sub then ruining the new viewer's experience of the people you are subbing at. I don't get people.

Eniahj

We would take you both up on this if there were any moderator tools for Patreon! That's half of the struggle. Hopefully they will add that in the near future.

Haylo

Us too! They recently added moderator perms for Chats but nothing for posts yet. We dream of it!

Haylo

👍

t3hfrankie1

Glad they finally made a post about this and called all the commenters out. Should also make a statement about it in next episode intro. Spoiling and foreshadowing was getting ridiculous in these comments.

t3hfrankie1

Disagree, part of the journey and enjoyment is not knowing what happens. If you get spoiled then no point to watching show since you already know what happens/how it ends. It's y I despise Prequels of any kind.

t3hfrankie1

Please don't use this post as a reason to witch-hunt or attack each other. We know that you ALL mean well and are just passionate about your love for the show. 💖 We only wanted to call attention to some types of comments that we personally consider a tad spoilery. We don't want to see blaming and negativity towards each other! Thanks all!

Haylo

I'm sorry, I don't really know if u are being sarcastic or u just give me compliment. But 🚩 means red flag, right? If it's right then I assume u just being judge me. I'm really sorry if I bother u,I'm just being a fans. Consider me like Sanji towards Nami & Robin 😇

Haylo Lover

I think a lot of people just can't help but try to feel clever, like "ohohoho well you seem to be on the right track hmmm I wonder what will happen next, I know what it is, you can tell I know what it is, wink wink. Don't I seem so smart and in the know?" Like, don't. Reaction channels don't need hints, and no one wants to be convinced how knowledgeable a commenter is on one piece, or any other series.

Flubbedsquid

Same. Would hate to see them get spoiled, because people are careless

Snowman9712

I would also suggest that they avoid any social media having to do with anime for the chance that it could have stuff about one piece.

Ben Asay

Agreed 💯

Ben Asay

I can change it if needed, my bad 😅 Choppers my favorite 😎❤️ I just know how they feel about spoilers, cuz I was somebody who got stuff spoiled for me. It's the worst 😓 If I can ask, do you think they will read the cover story that happens after Skypiea? I don't think they have to react to it per se, but it does have canon information and they didn't animate it in the show.

Ben Asay

Who ever is intentionally spoiling is trash.

Jacque Polley

that would have been an easy perma ban in my book. Note to H&K: never make me a moderator, you'll have no commenters left 😂

Kyle T

I wish Patreon had more moderation tools. Like the ability to temporarily chat ban someone with a message, and viewing their strike history, etc.

Kyle T

100% on the comments on the full version usually being better! Reg. Robin spoilers ...Toei themselves did all the heavy lifting, having her in the intro waaaay before she joined the crew, lol. Not to mention all the episode titles 😂

Kyle T

Bon Clay is a good example. He's presented as a villain and everyone is cheering for him. Saw lots about Robin as well.

Kyle T

ikr, I would have ban-hammered half the youtube comments if I had the power 😂 ...and maybe 1-3 per video on patreon, which is waaaay better.

Kyle T

I wanted to comment about your profile pic a couple of months ago, and say that it might spoil chopper being a major character. ....but that would have just Streisanded it and brought even more attention to it xD It's all good tho, I don't think they noticed.

Kyle T

I would double down on the moderation team. Just have a few people go over the comments and then read come back a day later. At least NEVER read YT comments, leave that to the mods too. And you're right about hyping characters up. It's such a stupid thing to do when they just have shown up in the story to say. I love character X, they're my favorite ! Then you immediately know, great, they must be here for a while and play a big role.

Mike Drop

In contrast, I've practically absorbed the wiki by the time i finish why season of any show; there's no such thing as a spoiler for me, because if a piece of information ruins a story then that story wasn't worth my time in the first place and I can move on to something better. We all have different tolerance for spoilers and you and I seem to be at opposite extremes, but I think it's fair to say that list people wouldn't give up on a story they enjoy because they learn about a minor event that happens later in that story.

draeonic 🪼

I mean it could have been... *checks list* Terracotta?

draeonic 🪼

Again, on a reaction channel I'd absolutely err on the side of caution, but in general arc names in OP don't seem that spoilery to me, because the names are mostly just locations? Then again, that never just get dropped on their own... "If you thought you felt [emotion] for [character] here, you're not ready for the [redacted] arc!" is definitely a no-no

draeonic 🪼

That is a very good rule of thumb. I think arc names (especially ones we haven't seen) are totally spoilers all across the board, mention of any kind of temporal event that hasnt yet been depicted by canon is a spoiler, and one I've struggled with is using episode numbers to help avoid filler and the like. Especially in the leadup to Alabasta when the message was "skip 131-143", the expectation you set by doing that too early is that now they have reason to suspect that Alabasta will be done by episode 131 (even if that's not necessarily true). So I'm trying to be more vague like "you can skip the arc after Alabasta". That arc could be 5 episodes from now, it could be 50, it could be 500!

Kitsune Inferno

I think that thanking you for your reaction to the chapter is enough. Thank you so much. 🏴‍☠️

Beto Lar.

This is the most common problem among people who are not as smart as they think they are 😂

Rekway

im glad to see the girls are being careful of spoilers. the comment section was definitely making me nervous regarding the way i was seeing people talk about bon clay and robin before they had become the crews friends. unfortunately most ppl go into one piece being spoiled about one thing or another, but please guys, be careful what you say in the comments 🙏 i really love these girls passion for the show, and i know everyone gets excited about certain things, and you can feel a bit inpatient, especially considering one pieces length, but try to be patient and aware of what you say, because itll be so much more worth it in the end if we as a community let haylo and kiss have a spoiler free one piece viewing. which is something i desperately wish i could have had back when i first watched

Dannigom

The more you go into the show, the more you should avoid any social media of the show, and avoid comments all together. There's people that are mean. I hope that you can make it through the journey without anything being messed up for you. 😎❤️

Ben Asay

Appreciate your effort in avoiding spoilers, it's tough for this show, gotta be careful everywhere; even within the show itself (damn titles and openings). I wish you luck

jdawg11

@DarnedStingray8 -- While I understand that it might not seem like a spoiler to everyone, in my opinion, telling a reactor that specific episodes need to be watched together is essentially saying, "Hey, the events of Ep 1 will continue into Ep 2, and the events of Ep 2 will conclude in Ep 3." When there's an ongoing fight or some uncertainty looming in the air, the last thing we should want to do is give blind reactors the expectation that whatever is happening in the story will be ending at a specific point in time (i.e. the third episode). We should want them to be on the edge of their seats with no idea of how or when a conflict will end. On a personal note, when I'm watching a show for the first time, I don't even want to know the episode numbers that an arc starts and concludes on. When I know that information, I might realize, "This fight LOOKS like it'll last a while, but as the arc ends in 1 episode, I know it won't," or maybe, "Well, the MC is fighting a major boss, but this arc doesn't end for another 20 episodes, so I have a strong suspicion that the MC won't be winning this battle." Again, that's just a personal preference. I think it might be too hard to request that level of blindness from a reactor. 😅

Merfhew

From now on avoid spoilers from fans or even social media is going to be your own journey to the one piece. It’s going to be a tough one. Wish you good fortune pirates. Lol. Love the reactions.

BrisaTTV

My bad the Robin thing was me 😂

Sybyss

No that's an awful take. Rephrase it to YOU might be able to enjoy something that's been spoiled. Not everyone is you. I would hate it if I get spoiled in any show. I even stopped watching shows because I got spoiled the ending.

Juvan

To be fair, you can still enjoy the show, even if something has been spoiled for you. Everyone who has rewatched from the beginning is proof of that. I’ve had several things spoiled to me in my time watching One Piece, many of them very recently. Major things. But I still immensely enjoy the show. I’m not saying anyone SHOULD spoil anything, to be clear, I’m saying that accidents happen. Let’s not forget the days of AOL instant messenger Half Blood Prince spoilers.

DarnedStingray8

The “watch episodes (1, 2, and 3) together” is fine, in my opinion. It’s not changing their expectations of anything or hinting that something major is going to happen. It’s just letting them know that the three episodes are tied together and should be absorbed in the same session. Even if the connection is minor, or only obvious in retrospect, they’d have no way of knowing that before watching the relevant episodes, and therefore it’s no different than telling them that they need to watch certain sections of filler episodes, like Ace giving Luffy the paper.

DarnedStingray8

If you’re looking for mods here on Patreon I can gladly do it for free🕺 I read comments anyways lol so, I can help you with both one piece and jjk, I’m up to date with both mangas

beannieswife

People seem to be on spoiler kicks lately. Alex Hefner just had to ban somebody from his whole patreon for, apparently, posting a movie spoiler in the Patreon group chat, and generally just being a Bellamy 😂

DarnedStingray8

Thanks for speaking out about this! It's always frustrating to deal with because I'll see something that's a borderline spoiler and want to say something, but then it's like "if I say something I'm drawing attention to the spoiler and giving it more power" I don't think the vast majority of us do it maliciously, and I think it's important to remind ourselves that no one's trying to invalidate your feelings by calling you out when you spoil. (shoutout to Ikado for reining me in once when I got overzealous about filler) The main thing is letting H&K experience as much as they can without preconceived notions. It's easy to put extra focus on your thoughts about characters you enjoy, like the Robin and Bon fans. We want people to be as enthusiastic about them as we are. But by trying to set expectations, we forget that things that made people so enthusiastic in the first place: seeing and experiencing them on our own. It's something we as a commentariat need to be cognizant of. *** One thing I want to call out to manga readers here: we've seen with the likes of Buggy and Django that cover stories often cross over into canon, so let's be incredibly careful about discussing those things even if they seem really small because the reality is that H&K are likely at least 3-5 years out from being caught up with the series, One Piece is likely not ending within that time frame, and 3 to 5 years is a lot of time for something seemingly inconsequential to suddenly come back to the main story in a big way. So an innocuous "fun fact" about a bit character who hasn't yet crossed over might retroactively morph into a huge spoiler. Another point to that, and why I am for the most part no longer going to point out manga-only material unless it creates a discontinuity (i.e. "why is Buggy suddenly sailing around with Alvida?" "why the heck is Django suddenly a Marine?"): there is an anime remake coming that may make the choice to adapt those previously manga-only materials. If H&K intend to watch that, or if they someday decide to read the manga, it's worth letting them have those new stories to discover as unspoiled as possible.

Kitsune Inferno

Agree with "If someone tells you something is a spoiler, don't argue; just assume they're right and delete it". I like the philosophy your reactor mentioned: "anything that creates or changes an expectation counts as a spoiler". You're right, it is broad. I feel like if we were to get into specifics, there would be no end, it'll end up like a very long legal document, I know that's not what you meant, but people being what they are would make it more and more detailed. With the philosophy of - "anything that creates or changes an expectation counts as a spoiler" it's a good standard by which to measure something you might say. An example: does saying "This is my favourite character!" while the character has just been introduced as a villain constitute as 'changing an expectation' Id say yes. People using that would be more cautious. Anyway, thank you for mentioning that, Ill also use that for my future comments

Nadeem L

It's think it's a good thing to list what constitutes a spoiler. My first reactor's rule was basically "anything that creates or changes an expectation counts as a spoiler." That's way too broad for most people in their daily life, but crucial for a reaction channel, which is why I think something more specific than "no spoilers" is necessary. (And even with that training, I just posted something in the edited eps that others considered spoilery, while I don't. "If someone tells you something is a spoiler, don't argue; just assume they're right and delete it" is also a good rule)

draeonic 🪼

This was the one that really broke me. I feel like we spent months protecting that spoiler and then here comes that cheeky person thinking they're being so clever.

Kitsune Inferno

Wonderful. Honestly on JJK also I read the absolute worst reply to a reaction - that person just explained from top to bottom how something worked and still doesn't get why it's a spoiler. I truly wish people would just let you guys completely enjoy stuff without spoilers, hints...etc, and put everything, the details all together yourselves. Sorry that there are people like that out there, hopefully they'll get the message this time

Nadeem L

Anticipation, curiousness, the enjoyment of the exploration of the Story and the world and the characters on your own. For that to be spoiled, it does not have to be a major plot point to be revealed; just little inklings are more than enough to spoil these things.

Daniel

I have been trying my best to call people out for hints and spoilers or make posts about all the things that can be spoilers for first time watchers. I hope your own announcement will finally put a stop to all the hints and spoilers. People comment stuff like "If Vivi doesn't join, I wonder if another female character will join the strawhats 😉" and honestly think they're subtle, it's baffling

Snowman9712

don’t get why people have the need to do this. Like keep your mouth shut on spoilers for anything

Strawhat Gabo

Oda's brilliance is in his patience and how he sets things up years in advance. Unfortunately some well-meaning fans get too excited and want to share their feelings right away, instead of having the patience to let the story build those feelings over time.

James Fischer

agreed

Axu

Now I’m curious about what was spoiled lol

son gohan

You can honestly ignore most fan theories anyway, usually they're just made up by YouTubers who need new clickbait.

FluidDruid

I also think comments like these should be avoided, as they set some expectations and give a "spoilery" vibe. Blind reactors shouldn't be influenced by our comments. The whole point of it being a "blind" reaction is for the reactor to have no idea what comes next. - "Grab your tissues!" - "The next few episodes are fan favorites for a reason. You'll love them!" - "I think you need to watch Episodes X, Y, and Z together." - "Don't forget about this detail that seems super minor right now. You'll need to remember it later." --- If something will be important later, wait until that time comes to discuss.

Merfhew

Yeah to be honest, it’s wild how some people write comments that are supposed to be all wink wink nudge nudge, and really a jellyfish could get what they’re saying. massive pet peeve of mine tbh

Jamie

Yeah, would be nice to tighten spoiler security. And to people who write a bit too much, I know you're getting excited, and in most cases, you don't even want to spoil, but keep your excitement to yourself please, and don't spoil even if it is a slight hint or an unproven theory, we will get there and talk about everything sooner or later.

Mellorine

I've always hated stuff like that and try to call it out when I see it. People really do not think when they make comments like that.

Freeofgreed

Much needed post. It's crazy how people will pay to see genuine reactions then make posts that spoil it. Honestly you should've made this a general posts as well, because I predict it will be a problem for a lot of other series you're watching especially JJK.

Freeofgreed

Sadly some people don’t see commenting “ — is my favorite “ as spoilers but in my opinion it is! It makes me wait for the moment that will make me love that character, why is the character so loved? Will I get backlash if I didn’t like the character? Etc. it takes away from the experience in a way

Meww

Thank you for saying it! Characters literally just get introduced and you see in the comments “Favorite character” “GOAT” “best girl” 😩

Ms. Onlyhereforonepiece

Great to see this message Honestly just ban the people who even accidentally spoil. What matters first is your enjoyment of the show. I can help look through for potential spoilers if you guys need help.

Juvan

Well said 🥰🥰 I'll enjoy the ride, just being happy to see u 2 watch One Piece..

Haylo Lover

It's bad enough that the two of you (BLIND reactors) are being spoiled, but there are other victims, too. As someone who isn't live with the anime or manga, I can't tell you how frustrating it is for viewers like me to see spoilers in the reaction comments for episodes we've previously seen and should be okay to participate in. The comments are meant to be a safe place for reactors and viewers alike, but I've been spoiled multiple times by people who decided a reaction video hundreds of episodes behind the newest episode was a great place to make conversation. I don't care how vague or indirect the comment is, nor do I care how relevant the old episode is. There is ZERO reason to take the risk of spoiling others, and doing so should probably come with consequences if the behavior persists. People can discuss future events elsewhere, and there are plenty of other places to do so. Thank you for taking the time to post this reminder.

Merfhew

And that is why I always settle for just commenting with a "hello ladies" hehehe because I want you to be able to experience the story in its entirety without any type of advance, even the slightest, and thus be able to continue crying, laughing and feeling all the emotions again with you as if it were the first time and sometimes even more intense than the first time I saw One Piece. Lot of love without of spoilers for you ladies.

CacoMetal

its sad, unfortunately people are really stupid or just cant help themselves. every single reactor eventually makes a post like this eventually at some point sadly. people are so disappointing

meef

Yeah, the moment I saw that comment about the "they" I immediately thought "I hope they don't see this one". Also see some comments praising characters as soon as they show up or things like that can definitely end up affecting the experience, specially in some of the next sagas where sometimes there are so many characters that it would take several episodes to identify which ones are major and which ones are secondary. Another kind of comment that I'm not sure how to feel about is when people remind you of things you've missed completely that are connected to what's happening in the current episode. I don't remember any exactly right now but for example when something has been foreshadowed and you don't make the association, people will point it out. Sometimes that's just trivia as the thing has already happened, but other times it can still be spoilerish of more things to come.

Hudell

I've tried my best watching for spoilers and calling them out, but I noticed the majority of these comments are either always on YouTube or on the edited version. The comments over on the full watch along versions are usually good The amount of "Nico Robin is my favorite, I love her" when we were in the middle of alabasta was WILD to see.

Lazy

Exactly! Everything will reveal itself in the appropriate time and we all should wait 🩷

Meww

Completely agree. As far as I’m concerned any comment that provides insight/context that first time reader/viewer wouldn’t have had at the time, is a spoiler. Most common type being, as you mention, people commenting on how much they like a character when at this point there is no reason to like them. Hate it when people do that.

Jimbeezee

Thanks for this announcement 🙏 While the spoilers weren’t intentionally nefarious, I really hated how people were hyping up Robin/Bon clay when they were to be supposed villains for the next 30 episodes 😭.

Sanji

Well said. Everybody must know how important this is. Giving a spoiler, talking about places, characters, items, or mentioning anything about events that have yet to come, even if they are 1000 episodes later, means you are ruining the journey. Please just comment about H&K reactions or past episodes in an appropriate way. Please respect.

Ikado

I'll just enjoy the ride, its worth the money seeing you 2 going into one piece 99% unspoiled.

Aloim Aloim

I totally agree with you that confirming or denying your theories does feel spoilery, I feel the same way too! I also hope we as your fans will refrain from inferring our likes/dislikes of characters before you have time to form your opinions Yourselves 🩷🫡

Meww

People need to realize that everything is a spoiler. If it takes away from a person's first experience to be able to enjoy a joke, cry at a death, love or hate a character how the story intended, etc...then it's a spoiler. It's really not difficult to NOT talk about something. It literally takes more effort to spoil things than not. Just let people enjoy these shows the way a lot of us did. I get sometimes spoilers are hard to avoid because society talks about them, but to come onto someone's channel which is specifically for first time reactions and spoil anything is cruel. I completely lose the will to watch anything that's been spoiled because what's the point. Small or big, a spoiler is a spoiler. Stop it!

Jose Rodriguez

I have full trust as i can clearly see you guys enjoy discovering for yourself and be surprised by the shows you are watching and im here for that! You guys clearly cares a lot and thats why you the only reaction channel i decided to actually sub to the patreon.

yvon melancon

😠 no spoilis 😠

Ognjen

This!👏 I hate spoilers. It sucks because spoilers are always such an issue whenever people start watching One Piece (I swear. 😮‍💨) We're here for your reactions ❤️ so I'll never understand why people just want to ruin/ moderate your opinions/reactions. Thanks for speaking on it you two 🙂 And thank you for allowing us in on your One Piece journey 🙏

Paola

Thank you for posting this, needed :)

Allen Ruiz

You truly need someone that deletes comments at this point lol. The spoilers are wild

Johnny

Hadn’t really considered that with Bon Clay, sorry about that! Hopefully nothing too major has been ruined for ya’ll

MattF315

I have been guilty of hyping up a character they just introduced. I’ll stop doing that from now on and mainly just comment on how awesome you two are.
