Whilst fillers can definitely add to the story, it doesn't mean they aren't "true fans" because they skip fillers. By that logic, someone who has read the manga all the way through and also seen the anime but without fillers is not a true fan, which is just wrong. Its good to give suggestions but please don't resort to name calling and instead just let the new watchers enjoy the experience

I support your take, but they are skipping the bulk of the filler, and the next time they have to worry about it, it's probably the most complicated filler knot in the entire series. Considering they just came off of a major filler skip point, it felt appropriate to point out the next time it matters. And as we saw with 131, it's not always simple enough to say "it's filler you can skip it". There are lots of opinions on what filler should be skipped and what should be watched. EDIT: I did remove some identifying information that I could concede as spoilery, at the risk of the end result being a bit confusing to read. I do agree with you that spoiling isn't cool, but I don't think warning about filler and making a suggestion about whether to watch or skip it is inherently a spoiler. But there is no need to be specific about what episodes they are until later, I concede. The concern is that I think H&K miiiight be watching on a slight delay to account for editing so if I wanted to warn them about episode, I dunno, 83 for example, it might be too late to do so on the 81-82 video.

Just comment on whether to skip or watch certain parts when the time comes. What you are doing is giving spoilers. We are all on this journey together, H&K and all viewers, sharing our feelings as if we are watching and learning everything for the first time. Please don't do it. I don't want to know, hear, or learn anything about the next episode or even the 1000th episode. Just short and simple advice will be enough.

Fun fact if you don't remember, Jaya was mentioned in the live action, Zeff told Garp that story of how he hunted a boar there. I love those little world building things the live action did as a wink to fans.

As for the filler 131 to 135, I would recommend you watch it offline or just casually on your phone. It has some small repeated flashback as well as some interactions between the crew on their 'downtime'. It's like wholesome episodes that reinforce the crew's goals and personality.

Good news! You don't have to worry about filler again until closer to 200, but the stretch of filler around that time is considered a watch by many OP fans. What I want to warn you about though (extremely early) is the stretch of episodes that follows that stretch. They are an absolute headache from a canon/filler perspective. There is a ton of filler mixed in with canon material, to the point that the entire structure of these episodes is completely altered by the filler. There are 4 episodes in the middle of all of it are all almost entirely filler (bar one or two events), but because of the altered structure of events, it might be confusing to outright skip these four episodes. They are generally in the spirit of the episodes surrounding, but they are ultimately just filler. Maybe they could make for a special 4-episode installment or something idk. :) The episodes following THAT stretch, however, are a complete skip with a couple of minor scene-length exceptions. That's all still a long way off. At the current pace, you won't have to worry about filler at all until like October or so, but early heads up that there are lots of complications once you got up into the 200s.

144 is the first of many reasons I don't care for 131 (not that it matters much because yall already watched it which is far). This ship falling is the close to Alabasta saga in the manga, and it's meant to be our first big moment with Robin, particularly for Chopper when she's piecing together the skull. Chopper doesn't really know Robin in this moment: he calls her "that woman". Yet in 131 we had Robin and Chopper bonding. It's cute, but 144 immediately contradicts it. Glad to see you're all aboard the Nico Robin train though. She adds such a fresh dynamic to the crew that didn't really exist before.

The hole in the head procedure they found on that skull is a real ancient historical medical treatment from multiple cultures, to relieve blood pressure buildup in the skull from head injuries, and other such ailments. It's called Trepanning or Trepanation, and it's been documented in the Greeks, the Inca, China, and even during the Western Renaissance. I've been excited for the Skypiea Saga! It's not my favorite, but it's really good. One Piece has always been about adventure, and this entire saga embodies that in the best way. I think you two will really like this one!

A giant falling ship from the sky is my favorite start to any one piece arc, and in the manga Oda included this quote that I love "Anything man can imagine is a possibility in reality." it was also an epic double page spread, which Oda rarely does. I sent the spread to yall in a Patreon DM :)
