Hearing that VA immediately established a bit more gravitas and presence to the scene when I first watched it

The opening scene was actually not in the manga. I guess it was a way to give people a little sampling of what Iguro and Sanemi could do. It was pretty sick.

Kanroji's "brink of death" moment was when Zohakuten (Hatred) hit her with the sonic blast in S3E10. She only survived that blast because she has superhuman strength for her size, and tensed up every muscle in her body just before impact. Hatred said she shouldn't have been able to keep her body structure intact. Right after that, she got her heartrate way up which manifested the mark.
