Hey sisters. Small clarification: While we have seen that certain people or eldians if anything have been able to trigger memories via touch, so far, unless i'm mistaken, it's almost always been exclusive to when a Royal-blooded eldian is involved. So when Eren's talking about the small worm titan inching its way to Trost, he's not tapping into its memories or anything at the time as far as we know. He is just remembering his DAD's memories through the fact that he ate his own dad and inherited his memories passively. So he didn't say that THIS specific titan is a patriot based on knowing that titan specificaly (although grisha might have) but it's more of an infered conclusion: All the people that were turned into titans and thrown into paradis were being "punished" by Marley and sent here, so the fact that this titan is even here, means that that Marley did that to him, and by extrapolating what he's seen from his dad's memory episodes, he concluded that this person must have been a fellow Patriot that was caught and punished like the others. There's potentially a panel of that same titan showing up in one of the flashbacks of either Ymir or Grisha but even if they werent from those flashbacks, it would still apply the same: Eren's applying the "Patriot" title on basically all the "subjects of ymir" all the "eldians" as far as he knows. It's a bit of an extremism because in his mind, because we dont actually know if that titan specifically was a patriot with the shoulder mark... but eren could just be doing some nationalistic statement here : if you are a subject of ymir and marley did this to you and sent you to paradis, then you are a patriot, otherwise... you are an enemy, an enemy across the sea. So it's less about touch-to-remember thing that royal blooded eldians have done so far, but more of sneak peak at what Emo Eren's thinking about. Speaking of which, very very VERY good catch on the dark and gloomy emo eyes and demeanor of Eren in the latter of that episode. I love how you caught that the same Eren who was being a loudmouth butting heads against Flock (ginger scout) while defending armin, is not the same eren in the second part of the episode that is more quiet and calm and depressed/emo... staring at the sea... but instead of enjoying the calm beautiful sea horizon that they always dreamed about, eren's view of that sea, a reflection of his own internal mindset, is that it's the calm before the storm. Because they thought that once they get out of the titan walls, they'd be free, but then they saw enemies outside the walls in the forms of annie/reiner/bert/zeke.., ok so what if we make it to the sea instead? and then they find out that it's not just a group of titan civilization living on an island next to them, but the ENTIRE WORLD that hates them, they are surrounded, by the sea, but by enemies beyond the sea...they have nowhere to expand safely to seek that freedom that eren's just constantly chasing nonstop... Freedom drives him, like the attack titan's urge for freedom... but then he made it to the sea and saw that there's no freedom like he thought there, it's only more enemies... so he's thinking "ok so... does that mean that if we kill all those enemies?... would we reach sea-like border afterwards and THEN be free? " but the dark and gloomy eren's thinking like a true software engineering programmer right now (and my god can i relate...:P ) because : he's realizing that this is an infinite recursive thought that has no guaranteed endgame based on what they've seen so far: there's always more enemies, there's always something preventing freedom... so what now.... do we just wait for the stack overflow to crash everything... or do we make a drastic change to our algorithm, accept all the errors and bugs and failures that come with it.. in software engineering when we hit these, we assess if we need to change the assumptions, change the requirements, change the mechanism, change the people working on the project, or... and here's the interesting one that always catches people off guard in my company: change the definition of "success", which here means, changing the meaning of freedom.

As Levi said it was hell for him. The moment when Levi said him to give up on his dream and when he charges and reuniting in death with his comrades is the only moment he felt happiness.

I don't want to get into specifics because of obvious spoilers, but season 4 was poorly paced. When you see sparks on contact, it means there's a connection to memories through the paths, to which all the subjects of Ymir are connected. We saw this with Eren kissing Historia's hand, or when Historia touched the letter Ymir had written on. When Eren touched that small-slow Titan this episode, there wasn't any sparks. He just assumed that since he got sent to Paradise, he was a fellow Eldian Patriot fighting against Marley, back on the mainland.

One important clarification. When Floch first gave his speech in the episode of Erwin's charge, it shows a flashback of him deciding the join the Scouts. It wasn't Erwin on stage giving the recruitment speech this time. Presumably, with how large the area in the walls is, and likely how busy Erwin was planning the battle strategy, other leaders within the Scouts went to give speeches at the recruitment ceremonies. This actually highlights how important it was that Erwin was always brutally honest in his ceremonies. The other leaders likely weren't as harsh, and so we see the difference in the types of recruits that joined - Floch compared to our squad.

Seasons 1-3 were created by the animation studio WIT, whereas season 4 was created by MAPPA. Another reason why the beach scene is so sad is because it’s essentially WIT’s farewell to AOT
