Random trivia about the pun that Connie made in the beginning of the episode (since Erwin stole the show later on): I do like the English version of the pun with the "eavesdropping" bit, but the original pun was more personal to Eren. Connie said "Eren no ie ga," meaning "Eren's house [is]," but "ie ga" is homophonous to the Japanese pronunciation of Eren's last name, Yeager. It's a dumb pun, but it still gets a chuckle out of me. It also shows how desperate Connie is for some relief from the mental and emotional stress.

Angry Gorilla

"My Soldiers, Rage! My Soldiers Scream! My Soldiers Fight!" Is some of the best moments in anime.

Daaylen Watson

This is one of the rare scene where the English sub is equally incredible to the dub.

YOUNES LOL LOULIZI

every time I listen to Erwin's final speech it always gives me goosebumps! it is without a doubt one of the best episodes of the series.

Henry Rebolledo

The triple drop! The amount of excitement i feel right now is outrageous and feels unwarranted but I cannot help it hah.

Matt Timms

Totally. I mean he was never my favourite character but you respect him in the end. On my rewatch I noticed that all the sacrifices were very selfish... but still.. that man knows how to lead a full army

Nuni

Erwins speech is something you guys definitely should go back to and react or atleast watch in english too! I prefer the sub but dub is really good in this scene too.

oikeeherkku

that speech gives me chills every time D:

Yeah I mean you start to get a hint of that even in No Regrets, then sacrificing Levi Squad in pursuit of Annie in the giant forest, sacrificing MPs chasing after Reiner-Bert in S2. This man lacks some humanity in terms of how much he stacks pragmatism and cold hard numbers in favor of his strategies and political machinations. He’s right ultimately in his intentions as the monarchy and nobility were super corrupt, but he does not choose the side of keeping as many people alive as possible.

So happy you guys got here!

Anguis Viridis

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought they were starting from 3 minutes and sixteen seconds into the episode. hahah

Jake Smith

The show just gets better and better with each season. You guys catch so much and have really great insight, I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts throughout the rest of this amazing series.

erwin speech always hitting me hard

Ugh this episode always gets me. Erwin’s speech makes me cry every single time, no matter how many times I’ve heard/seen it. I think it was this episode where I started to really understand that AOT is something special, and afterward it just kept getting better. Erwin is a sometimes selfish but beautiful, beautiful man. And I agree about Annie and the Beast Titan! No matter what their goals or motivations might be, it’s the ruthless killing I can’t excuse. The Beast seems to have fun with it, like you pointed out! It’s disgusting. Excited for the next, these three episodes are all absolute favorites of the whole show so moving on to number two now!

Kel

Yessss, the double drop ✊

Probably my biggest AoT hot take is that the more I rewatch this show the less likeable Erwin becomes. Like every soldier he sent to their death, every civillian he sacrificed, the conspiracy to overthrow the government...he dressed it up as all being for the good of humanity but as he admits a few times in private, it was all about fulfilling his own selfish dream, satisfying his own curiosity, and that makes a few things he did borderline unforgivable (Stohess!). But in spite of all that, here when facing hell he decides to abandon his life's ambition, he takes a step towards redemption by dedicating his heart in a way that in the past he's only demanded of others.

The next episode is probably one of the best in the entire series. Enjoy!

Mister X
