2024-04-06 19:12:59 +0000 UTCYeah, ok. But for me it's quite simple: they only cut things that weren't in the manga, i.e. the source material, so whatever I'm missing now can't be important. Some of the scenes may be interesting and worth watching anyway, but on the flip side you pay by having to watch literal hours of time wasting reaction shots etc. Here is great side by side example of why One Pace is doing God's work (imo): https://youtu.be/n1z6umwBs5I?si=gzJWCAiC5ILswAP2

2024-03-23 19:26:30 +0000 UTCI don't think most people would notice either to be fair- I agree u can still get A very good idea and feel for the show but it does cut some very good interactions between characters/jokes and I feel that contributes to what people say about awkward cuts and feel for somw relationships (sorry if others disagreeas i only used one pace to rewatch 600- wano)- personally it's why I encourage people to watch the regular one first because of this- especially if they aren't noticing or bothered by the pace. Now if one is bothered and just in a hurry to catch up yeh on pace could help

If I haven’t convinced you by now then I never will, but do me a favour though - if you ever make a Japanese friend, don’t call them your nakama. You’ll get weird looks.

But I have been rewatching the Whole Cake Island arc and am now watching the Wano arc for the first time, all via One Pace, and I think it's great. Is it perfect? Probably not. But is it less painful to watch than all the slow paced and long winded fight and filler scenes? Definitely. Though, tbf, it only gets that bad in later arcs, the earlier arcs are still watchable. Which is why One Pace cuts out less there.

From the website: "One Pace is a fan project that recuts the One Piece anime in an endeavor to bring it more in line with the pacing of the original manga by Eiichiro Oda. The team accomplishes this by removing filler scenes not present in the source material. This process requires meticulous editing and quality control to ensure seamless music and transitions." And, when you get to the 2nd live action season, you’ll probably be leaving those events in the dust so you’ll be watching fresh.

2024-03-20 09:52:05 +0000 UTCHere's my take on wether you should continue or not, because im in the same boat as you guys. I never seen One piece before. Saw the Live Action and fell in love with this world. Then saw the Anime along with you guys. Now let's be honest the anime is a "10" and the Live Action did an incredible job even with its limitations so i give it a 9.5. But me personally, I rather go from seeing the condensed 9.5 show and then see the complete "10" anime with all the little details and side stories that the Live action just can't include. I rather go from low to high, than seeing the anime, and then seeing the show and be like "aww they didn't add this, they didn't include that" etc. Again just my 2 cents.

2024-03-19 16:37:58 +0000 UTCThough there's technically one more arc after Arlong before the end of the first saga of the series, to me this marks the shift of gears for the series and the end of the beginning. Everything up to this point is almost a prologue of sorts, an introduction. The places, characters and stories beyond here are truly incredible and I really do hope you continue to watch past the live action (though I have a feeling that's what the announcement is about lol). Regardless this rewatch with you guys has been super fun and your reactions have really shown how much you've genuinely enjoyed your time with it. Found your channel through the live action reactions and you two have become my favourite reactors to watch, looking forward to what's next, be it continuing the series or taking a break for something else. Whatever it is, I'll be watching

2024-03-19 15:36:17 +0000 UTCI wasn't about to get into a detailed explanation for the sake of clarity, but in this specific example Arlong is by no English definition a "friend" of Nami, and to take the word "nakama" and use it to mean "friend" in this episode is an example of translations being weird, and giving some language context can help with the confusion. Anime is usually pretty good with conveying accurate, bilingual expressions. Nakama is how I previously described. Tomodachi is always someone you'd take a fall for. Kazoku is always family. It's not going to be the same in real-life spoken Japanese, because that would be like saying all English speakers speak like the characters in Scooby Doo. Zoinks!

However, it's more like "comrade" (which also gets used sometimes in the subtitles) or "ally". Someone who's on your team, but not necessarily chummy. If you hear the word "tomodachi", that's "friend" as we know it in English.
