This show is so good with setting up these emotional stakes and Luffy never disappoints. For a relatively simple-minded guy, he has strong ideas about saving others and their dreams/treasures!

The little guy was only in the story for a brief moment but made that big of an impact, showing the love and loyalty only dogs are capable of.

2024-01-16 18:41:28 +0000 UTCIt's a shame they never got to fit ChouChou's story into the live action in some way since it's such a great early establishment of the kind of character Luffy is and also the emotional tone the series has at times. That being said it also would've been near impossible to pull off the brutality Richie the lion does to the poor dog in live action without it being just too much. Also I don't think they could've replicated the fantastic voice acting of the original actors delivery, that moment when they go "Ruff" was really powerful.
