“…And that’s what happened,” Harry finally finished telling Hermione what happened in his life during these past few days.

Hermione couldn’t believe what she had just heard, she was aware of the capture of Bellatrix Lestrange as the news hit as soon as she was brought to the ministry, hell, she even witnessed when she was being pulled into the building, but even with all that information, she had no idea that her beloved potions professor and her family and friends were the cause of her imprisonment.

“So…Are they gone forever?” Hermione was afraid to ask but she knew she had to.

“No, my friend here…Nymphadora Tonks,” Harry pointed at the female Auror who didn’t look too amused to be called by her name.

“Just call me Tonks or Dora please, I don’t like my name,” the older woman said in the calmest tone she could get.

“She was in the same situation as them, but by a chance of faith, Bellatrix decided to use her as an example to show me she wasn’t playing around and she just decided to give the soul back to her to show me that she really had possession of the souls of the people close to my family, which was a mistake because Moody was in the hospital and that’s what led to Bellatrix's arrest,” Harry explained and Hermione was surprised by all of this, it seems like even after all the books she has read she still had lots of things left to learn.

She sighed relieved, it seemed like not everything was lost, her beloved professor still had a chance to come back and that made her feel relieved, however, there was a question that needed to be answered…If everything seemed to be fine...What was the reason for their visit?

“I don’t want to sound mean but…It seems like everything has been solved, so, why are you here?” Asked the brown-haired woman with clear curiosity.

Harry and Tonks remained in silence, this was the part they were afraid to talk about because this information was too risky to be telling people around about it.

“Hermione…Can we talk alone? This is a very serious matter that could put any of us in danger in case it leaks out, even worse, it would put my mother on Azkaban the moment she gets back to life,” Harry said in a serious tone.

Hermione was surprised, they were alone in the library except for Trixie of course and Hermione trusted the elf with her life, however, she soon realized what they were talking about, the ministry has this place completely controlled, there must be some secret things here they use to spy whoever comes here asking for information, also, if what they were saying was right, then she wasn’t going to put Trixie’s life at risk because of that.

“Trixie, I’m going to speak with these people privately, you’re in charge of attending the library, remember, if you have doubts, just use the parchment I’ve been working on,” Hermione grabbed the piece of paper that she was using to write and surprisingly the thing was completely clean, there weren’t any more words. “If you write what kind of information you're searching for it will give you the book and its location, you could say that this is my magical version of a computer, now...Let’s go to my office,” the librarian said with a calm tone.

Soon they arrived at a little room within the library, it wasn’t that big but Hermione rarely spent time there, so, she didn’t care too much about the size.

“This is my office, don’t worry, it’s safe to speak here,” Hermione said with a calm tone.

Harry and Tonks weren’t too sure about that, so, the younger man nodded at his Auror friend and soon, the older witch started to search around for devices, charms, or anything that could be used as a means for espionage.

“It’s safe,” Tonks said and Harry now felt more secure.

“Told you, I don’t know why you didn’t believe me,” Hermione was clearly offended.

“This building is property of the Ministry of Magic Hermione, they have the right to put and plant devices to spy on their own employees, that’s why even though I respect your position, there are some things you aren’t trained to know about, but I guess the ministry didn’t take this place too seriously as this room is completely clean,” Tonks said with a calm tone.

“Yeah, I made sure of that when I was given this position, after all, I was a minor back then, they had the right to spy on the adults who came to ask for information but they didn’t have the right to spy on me yet and I took advantage of that loophole, I guess they forgot I became an adult a long time ago,” Hermione chuckled after saying that. “So…What do you guys want to talk about?” Asked the librarian with a concerned tone.

“Horcruxes—” Harry started and soon, his lips were sealed with Hermione’s hands.

“Harry…I know you’re grieving and probably blaming yourself for what happened recently but, forcing people to be immortal isn’t the right way to protect them,” Hermione was worried about her old crush and soon, she decided to release his mouth.

“No…You’re not understanding Hermione, It’s not for me, it’s what’s inside me,” Harry said with a serious tone.

Soon, he explained to her what his brother and Dumbledore did with Voldemort’s horcruxes but then, he stopped for a few moments.

“Wait, Harry…If they already destroyed all of the Horcruxes…Why are you here?” Asked the librarian with a concerned tone.

“Hermione…The reason why my life has been such a disaster since the start, the reason why I’m a danger to society, and the reason why my powers get out of control every time I try to use them is because…There’s a Horcrux inside of me that was created accidentally the day Voldemort was killed…He was killed by me,” he explained with a serious tone.

To say that Hermione was shocked would be an understatement, she was stunned, she even for a moment thought that Harry was only playing around, but as seconds went by and his expression remained the same, she realized something, he was being honest.

“No…There’s no way…Then that means that you have…You have to die,” something felt wrong in her throat as she said those words, she didn’t even care that Harry was the actual boy who lived, she felt like she was about to lose something important after searching for it for so long.

She hated to admit that she always regretted not speaking with Harry once again, she not only believed he didn’t want to be with her, but she actually thought that Harry found her disgusting and a loser that he would never date.

That’s why she worked to improve everything in her life, her career, her investigations, her inventions, and also her looks and the latter became easier once she became an adult.

However, everything seemed to be in vain, because if what Harry was saying was the truth then he was meant to die, and of course, all the things she did to finally one day feel worthy of his love, it was useless, they weren’t meant to be together.

“Technically that’s what it should happen but...I don’t want to!” Harry said with a sad tone. “I’m recently starting to get to know more and more about new things in life, and I want to keep discovering new things that could surprise me…I don’t want to die Hermione, that’s why I’m investigating to find a way to get rid of that thing inside me, that’s why I came here because aside from my mother, you’re the smartest and most knowledgeable person I know of!” Harry’s words were strong and yet, Hermione couldn’t help but blush after hearing that.

Harry Potter…The boy she always loved needed her and hearing that caused her to collapse on the floor with complete embarrassment.

“Hermione…Are you alright?!” Asked a completely concerned Harry as he helped her to get back to her feet.

“Yes…More than fine…What do you want to know Harry? I’ll help you as much as I can!” Hermione promised him with the most confident expression she could have.

However, she was too embarrassed right now, Harry was touching her arm and she was seriously considering not washing that arm again for the rest of her life.
