“I—I don’t know what you’re talking about Mr. Potter, I—”
The shopkeeper couldn’t continue because Harry’s calm expression suddenly changed for a more serious and threatening one, the shopkeeper couldn’t help but gulp because even though Harry Potter wasn’t using his wand, there was a strange aura coming out of him.
The aura was so dangerous that it made the man feel scared for a second until the moment Harry Potter closed his eyes and massaged his temple before he slammed his hands on the shopkeeper’s desk.
“Dimitri…You look like a reasonable person…Well, you look like a person, indeed,” Harry said with a smirk on his face.
“W-What are you talking about?” Asked the man with a shocked tone.
“What I’m saying is that there are laws in this country Dimitri, laws that don't allow certain creatures to have a business amongst the general population because you know…The powerful pureblood magical people are kind of afraid of others different than them and well, if you have money you can decide who enters this special club called society and who doesn’t,” Harry said before chuckling.
“Mr. Potter, I don’t know what you’re trying to imply but this is a humble business, managed only by humans, so, if you excuse me, I’ll need to ask you to leave my store!” The man said in a nervous tone.
“Cut the bullshit, Dimitri…That shadow of yours looks completely fake!” Harry pointed at the man’s shadow.
No matter how much Dimitri’s body was shaking due to the nervousness and no matter how much he moved his hands, the shadow remained in the same position and with the same form, and even though many candles were lighting the place, the intensity of the shadow didn't make sense.
“You’re a vampire Dimitri, that's not an implication, that's a fact and aside from the fact that you’re the owner of a business, something that’s against the law, you aren’t carrying the collar on your neck that all vampires need to use due to the laws recently pronounced after the war because of the mess some of your people made by allying with Voldemort!” Harry suddenly said in a tone full of anger.
Dimitri couldn’t help but fell on his butt at the back of the store, Harry then decided to pick up his wand and close the shop, he was going to have a private conversation with the man.
“Tell me what you prefer Dimitri…” Harry suddenly used magic to put the man in a chair and restrict him. “Garlic?” He made a sack of garlic to appear close to him. “A stake?” Harry made a pointy sharp object made of wood appear and soon, he started to poke the man’s chest with the thing.
Harry was actually poking the part where the man's heart should be located, that’s if the heart of a vampire beats, of course, he's not that familiar with the biology of a vampire, most of his knowledge comes from muggle folklore and movies.
“Or maybe you prefer something made of silver?” Harry suddenly made various sharp weapons made of silver appear, and amongst those objects, there was a gun and also silver bullets, despite magic making muggle technology useless, guns worked so well here, and this worked so well not only against vampires but also other wizards.
Harry was being so rough while the supposed vampire shopkeeper couldn’t help but feel completely distressed at the sight of all those objects, yes, those objects are effective against vampires but this man was far more cowardly than the average count vampire who hides in his castle.
In fact, the mere mention of garlic was enough to make the man feel fear, Harry has fought with a huge quantity of vampires since the end of the war, they’re very dangerous creatures as it only takes a bite from them to destroy an innocent person’s life.
But that’s not all, they're also able to use magic and due to their immortality they have enough time to perfect their magical skills, and the craziest thing is that most of them are willing to go so far for some fresh blood that they don’t even mind getting attacked with one of the things Harry was using to intimidate the shopkeeper, yes all these things worked well against weak vampires but ancient ones are more difficult that at some point sunlight is the only you can use against them.
However, from his experience, Harry has learned how to identify when a vampire is strong or if he hasn’t awakened his complete power, and that only happens when they live long enough and get experience or if they directly drink the blood of a virgin maiden, so, considering this man has been keeping this business for years and the fact that he was probably older than his parents, this was telling Harry that he had a very inexperienced vampire in front of him, so, this was telling him that this vampire wasn't even hundred years old.
“Or maybe you prefer to keep your business afloat?” Asked Harry with a more calming tone and suddenly, all the things he was using to intimidate the man disappeared from there.
“W-What?” Asked the vampire with a raised brow and suddenly Harry decided to stop restricting him.
“What you heard Dimitri…We can forget about this and you can keep your business afloat with just one condition…I want you to give me the information about the person I asked you,” Harry said with a smirk on his face.
And the vampire couldn’t feel confused, he thought he was going to be interrogated and tortured, that was the logical thing to happen here, right? He was expecting to suffer a lot for his silence but now Harry Potter seemed completely changed.
“I think those laws don’t make any sense, I think it’s just an excuse to keep Diagon Alley only for humans, but how can we avoid wizards like Voldemort from appearing if we don’t allow other creatures to integrate into our society?” Harry said before sighing. “That’s why I have no interest in ruining your life Dimitri, but I need you to cooperate with me…What do you say?” Asked Harry with a soft smile on his face.
The vampire didn’t think too much and it only took a fraction of a second for him to nod violently, he thought his end was near, he was just ninety-five years old he still had a long life as long as he didn't get in trouble, he was a kid practically in vampire years, and contrary to his colleagues, he wasn’t interested in power, he doesn’t care about blood quality that’s why in this job he can get his dose of blood without hurting anyone.
“Yes…I’ll do it, I’ll tell you everything I saw,” the man promised Harry and soon he started to fulfill that promise.
A few moments later…
“Imperio…That’s what the person said and soon, Mrs. Greengrass was in complete control of that person,” the vampire told Harry.
The auror couldn’t help but gulp and smirk at the same time, his theory was proven right, Mrs. Greengrass was under the control of that person.
“Can you describe the way that person looked like?” Asked Harry with a worried tone.
“Forget about the description I know who that person was…The family of that person had sold the blood of their war victims to many wealthy vampires, even vampires fear them…I just saw the face of that person for a fraction of a second but it was enough for me to know that the person was…Narcissa Malfoy,” the vampire said before gulping.
Harry’s face suddenly became serious, he knew this day was going to come, he didn’t want to believe that Daphne’s disappearance had anything to do with him, but in the end, he couldn’t pretend anymore, this was a personal attack, he killed her husband and son, after all.
Meanwhile in some hidden place…
Daphne was confused, she didn’t know what time it was but she was regaining her consciousness little by little.
“Harry…” She said in a low tone as she looked at her surroundings.
She was in an empty dusty room and she felt a little worried.
“I’m glad you’re awake, dear…” Daphne suddenly looked back and she tried to stand up and move but she was completely restricted, still, she knew who that voice belonged to.
“Narcissa…Mrs. Malfoy, is that you?” Asked Daphne with a confused expression.
The mysterious person decided to just stand in front of the younger woman to face her.
“Not Malfoy anymore dear…There’s just darkness in my heart…I’m Lady Black, Narcissa Black,” the older woman said in a creepy tone as she caressed Daphne’s face.
She was trying to look caring, but she had the opposite effect as she was scaring Daphne who had no idea what was going on.
