Sorry for not posting yesterday, I was working on this one-shot chosen by you (image attached), that's why it's longer than the average daily chapter!

Title: More than partners.

Summary: Harry and Daphne may look like the perfect Auror partners, the ones who can always trust in the other, however, there’s more than what it looks like on the surface, especially considering what they do outside work…

During the war, Daphne and her family remained neutral, they didn’t join a side however they had to run through the world to escape from Voldemort and his followers who wanted the Greengrass family to join their side in the war due to their pureblood origin.

This tactic of running away cost them not only their fortune as they moved around the world, they had to pay some shady people to help them to move around, but they were also robbed by the death eaters, they stole everything from their manor, it seems like even someone like Voldemort was interested in mundane things like art and jewels.

Though this experience gave Daphne and her sister the chance to follow their own paths away from the rules of the aristocracy, her little sister, in the end, remained part of the higher class of the wizarding world but her reason was for love because she married Draco Malfoy, someone whose family even though lost a lot during the war, somehow they managed to survive and to continue having money, Daphne can’t help but hate those people, but she doesn’t say anything because she loves her sister and her sister loves Draco.

Daphne had a lot of options after graduating due to her grades, from teaching at Hogwarts to opening her pot palace (for potions) in any village to help the habitants, in the end, she picked something that took her family by surprise, she joined the auror forces, and why would someone like Daphne join a place like this? Well, the reason is simple, she hated being weak.

She hated having to run away during the war, she wanted to fight but she was powerless she only had academic experience and she lacked experience in the real-life department, so, to protect her family and herself, she decided to join the Auror forces to her surprise at the same time as Harry Potter did it.

At first, the two of them didn’t get along due to their differences in their role in the war, also, there were a few misunderstandings, Harry thought Daphne hated him for defeating Voldemort and Daphne felt that he hated her because she’s a pureblood witch and just like all purebloods she must’ve supported that bastard.

But after they graduated from the Auror academy, they were assigned to work together as a team and during that first mission her excellence in making logical decisions and Harry's strength were a perfect match even if they didn't get along, Daphne was about to get hit by a spell from the enemy, however, Harry put himself in front of her to repel the spell that was too strong for her to handle.

After that, their previous relationship as nothing but colleagues quickly changed and little by little they were proven wrong of their prejudices, and it didn’t take too long for them to start to open up to each other finding a lot of things they had in common like their love for dark arts in the sense of learning not because they wanted to become the next dark lord.

And they thought they had a good friendship until the incident that changed everything happened.

It was a mission that almost went wrong, they were investigating a group of people that formed the “necro snake” cult and they had just one objective, to bring Voldemort back to life, something impossible as it was informed to the general population that nothing would bring that monster back, however, even all that information couldn't stop the crazy people from trying to bring him back to life.

Their crimes included robbing, killing, muggle sacrificing, the formation of a cult, and blood supremacy ideas, all crimes rewarded with capital punishment, but this group was also deep inside in the fabrication of toxic potions.

So, the day the Aurors raided the place and when they thought they finally got the culprits responsible for the disapprobation of many muggle-born wizards and witches that were reported as missing for a year, they thought it was an easy mission until something exploded.

It was one of those toxic potions and it was intoxicating not only the cult members but also the auror forces at a fast speed, and even if they tried as much to avoid the damage on the Auror side, a lot of them were affected by that potion that had the purpose to kill the body from the inside slowly and painfully, and one of those victims was Daphne.

To see her suffering for hours was something that almost made Harry go insane, the treatment was long and painful and many of the auror infected died, and Harry thought that he was going to lose Daphne just like the many people he had lost in his life and that made him realize the way he really felt about her, this wasn’t a friendship anymore.

Luckily she managed to survive thanks to a potion made by Harry who used some interesting methods on the people responsible for this, let’s say that the culprits wished to be in Azkaban already rather than being in the same room with Harry.

In the middle of her suffering, Daphne realized she felt something deeper than a friendship when it comes to Harry, he’s the only man who has managed to break the barrier in her cold heart, if the women in the wizarding world knew about this they would surely put a prize on her head.
