Chapter #7: Getting things in order.

Harry couldn’t stop looking at his surroundings, he was walking through Diagon Alley alongside his godson and this was just like that time when he first visited this place with Hagrid, he was awed by all the new things he was seeing, there were so much new stuff.

He couldn’t wait to explore more of this place, however, he was on an important mission right now, so, the exploration needed to wait, right now he was in this place to check out his finances, and that’s why the two of them are walking towards Gringotts.

- So… Gringotts, uh? I’ve always wondered what humans do at that place aside from security I mean, goblins take care of the money, right? – Asked Harry trying to start a conversation with his godson.

He was indeed older than him technically, but still, that doesn’t mean Harry doesn’t want to get closer to him, after all, he’s Remus and Dora’s son, he couldn’t be that bad.

- We take care of the political stuff, you know? Advertising too, we have PR teams, basically all things that need humans to be taken seriously, trust me, it’s easy for politicians to laugh at a goblin trying to talk about taxes, is like a child trying to give them lessons, it’s hard to take someone seriously – He explained and Harry nodded – We also fund investigations with one purpose… For them to find more gold, that’s why we have people like Bill – Harry nodded, it made sense.

Now that Harry has no responsibilities he has to think about the future, so exploring possibilities doesn’t sound like a bad idea, maybe a future as a Gringotts representative doesn’t sound that bad.

- I was thinking about maybe working for them in the future but after all the things I did, it might not be a good idea to ask – Harry said as he laughed nervously.

- Don’t worry about it, your ban and your title as “persona non grata” already expired ten years ago, so, it’s fine! – Teddy smiled at him and Harry couldn’t help but smirk, there were some traces of Tonk’s mischievous attitude on him.

- Thank Merlin, I’ll feel more confident to confront my demons now – Harry said before he gulped and Teddy nodded at him.

- Don’t worry about it, I’m sure there must be some money for you to pay your debt, after all, Sirius left you something, right? – Asked the older wizard and Harry’s eyes widened.

- I completely forgot about that, I’m so sorry… In my case just a few hours ago I was fighting Voldemort and I never considered the possibility of checking Sirius inheritance – He sighed – I thought I was going to die with him though – Harry scratched the back of his head.

- Well… Thankfully you did not – Teddy sighed as they stopped.

And suddenly, they were finally at the place they were supposed to be, the entrance of the most important bank in magical Britain.

- To be honest, I wanted to meet you, there have been so many rumors about you but it’s good to see that some of them are pure bullshit – Teddy laughed and Harry couldn’t help but laugh too.

- Thank you, that’s a realistic take... I hate when people think of me as a godsent person or something like that – Harry sighed.

- Oh, it’s good to know that but I wasn’t talking about that… I was thinking more about the rumors of your love life – Teddy laughed – I swear to you Rita Skeeter really cashed out on your name by publishing a book where she wrote about you and her as a couple during the tri-wizard tournament – Teddy placed a hand on Harry’s back as the younger man’s eyes widened.

- She did what!? – He couldn’t believe it – I was a teenager back then and I must admit that if she offered me the chance to do something like I may have accepted but the only thing she did was flirt to get information from me… That didn’t work though – Harry sighed – It seems like I have to check out if more people are defaming me just like her – Harry was so embarrassed, he’ll surely need to take some legal action.

- Don’t worry about it… Everyone knows it’s pure bullshit… It’s still fun though – Teddy laughed once again – But changing the topic, let’s get inside already – Harry nodded at his godson’s suggestion and then, it finally happened.

The main door of Gringotts was finally opened, and Harry couldn’t help but gulp, the place was just as it was the last time he was here, of course, what he did during his last visit was already fixed.

- Follow me on this way – Teddy suggested and Harry did as he was told.

As they walked Teddy saluted the goblins, even if he felt a certain kind of distrust towards them due to their greediness, as someone who worked as a representative of the bank, he knew better than to give his superiors an honest opinion.

- Where are we going? Is there someone new taking care of my account? – Asked Harry calmly.

- You’ll know soon – Teddy said as they continued entering many different doors until they found the most elegant one – This is the boss’ office – Teddy told him and Harry nodded.

- So… The most important employee is in charge of my account uh? – Harry was getting more and more nervous, he knew the boss was going to eat him alive.

- I’ll be honest with you Harry, your last accountant is dead, and considering you’ve been dead for a long time, your account has remained without being taken care of… If you aren’t paying someone there’s no point in the bank taking care of it – Teddy told him and suddenly he knocked on the door and it was opened.

In front of them, sitting on a big chair, there was an old goblin with white hair.

- Lupin… What’s the meaning of this? – Asked the old goblin.

- Sorry for interrupting you boss, but this person here needs to check his account that has been in a requiem state for a few years – Teddy explained to his boss.

And the old goblin raised his glasses before he took some papers that Teddy gave him and as he started to read the content on the papers it didn’t take too long for him to gasp and look at Harry in horror.

- I know what you’re going to say boss but yes… He’s the one… The man who conquered is here – Teddy said with a soft smile on his face as he pointed at Harry.

The old goblin checked out again and as he did that, Teddy explained the situation, and how he verified this was the real Harry Potter.

- Harry Potter… We have some pending businesses, sit down you two! – Said the old goblin with an angry expression.

- I know what you’re going to say, and I’d like to apologize on behalf of me and my friends as we did something very stupid and dangerous back then, but it had to be done and I have no regrets for doing that – Confessed Harry with a serious expression.

He was tired of being scared, he was the man who killed Voldemort for fuck's sake, after that experience experiencing fear was something difficult for him, still, the old goblin looked at him with a serious expression, and suddenly he wrote something on a paper before he handled it at Harry.

- What the fuck? – Asked Harry as he looked at the paper, it was a huge number.

- Mr. Potter, we don’t hold grudges, but when money gets involved we don’t forget… If you wish to regain control of your account then that’s the quantity you must pay – The goblin said with a serious expression – I know it’s a huge quantity, but that will cover the costs of reparations, and security fees because after that heist we had to invest in terms of security, it will cover those workers traumas and most importantly the inflation… That incident was twenty-five years ago Mr. Potter – The old goblin added.

- Damn… This is a very huge quantity but, do I have enough money to cover this? I mean, I don’t remember having too much money back then – Harry said worried about this situation.

- Don’t worry about it Mr. Potter, you can make monthly payments with some percentage of interest of course in case you don’t have enough money in your account – The old goblin laughed and Harry gulped.

Harry hated to be in this kind of situation, he could end up in the streets but there was something else that he didn’t like, the idea of owing someone something, so, if he managed to pay this he’ll be free to do whatever he wanted and no amount of money is worth when it comes to your own freedom.

- Let’s do it then… I’ll pay – Harry accepted and the goblin laughed weirdly once again.

And after he said those words, the goblin made a folder appear, inside the folder, there were many documents and the goblin couldn’t stop looking at them and then he looked at Harry with a serious expression.

- What’s wrong? There’s not enough right? – Harry asked scared.

- It’s not even one percent of your total savings – The goblin said disappointed – That’s a bummer, I was going to offer you to work for us as a security guard of our most valuable possessions, someone like you would scare anyone who dared to try to steal from us! – The goblin was disappointed.

As for Harry, he was trying to process what he was hearing, he was starting to feel as if he heard wrong so he started to clean his ears.

- Not even one percent!? Did I hear wrong!? – Harry was worried.

- Sadly not, you’ve heard correctly – The goblin clarified and Harry couldn’t help but feel surprised – If you don’t believe me check the files by yourself – He handled Harry the folder he made appear.

And it didn’t take too long for Harry to check out if he was telling him the truth and in the end, he realized something, he was indeed telling the truth, and as he continued analyzing the folder he saw his original savings and also some investments that his parents did before they died, including some muggle investments that really bloomed when he disappeared, it seems like these were the most successful, it seems like they invested in technology and that was the thing that was giving him the most money every month and also there were some things included coming from Sirius, some gold and a few houses.

- Okay Mr. Potter it’s time to seal the deal – The goblin made another document appear.

And it didn’t take too long for Harry to revise the document he was being handled by the old goblin and after a quick read he signed it and just like that, he felt as if a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.

- Let me get you your stuff – The old goblin said accepting the document.

And he made a box appear, inside the box there were some ownership documents, a card, and a ring with the number “1” accompanied by many “x” letters.

- With this ring, you can pay anywhere Mr. Potter, this number with many “x” represents the total amount of money on your account, due to your number increasing with each hour, it’s pointless to give it a specific number, however, if you for some reason manage to spend all your money the number will get to zero, this card is for you to come personally to get physical money – The goblin clarified and Harry nodded, the goblin also handled him the box with the documents – Now if you excuse me, I have a lot of work to do, in a few days you’ll receive a notice to inform you about your new accountant – The goblin said and in a few moments Harry and Teddy were outside his office.

This happened too fast for Harry and Teddy couldn’t help but smile at his godfather, he didn't know him personally but he was apparently a friend of his parents, so it was all good.

- Thank you for helping him, Teddy… But I think I’ll take the lead from here – A blonde woman told them as she approached them.

- Fleur! – The two of them said at the same time.

And the older woman just flicked her long blonde hair while she smirked at the pair.
