Pretend like he's on sick leave (which he is, actually) - would you be this harsh on him? I understand that desire to see a specific person's reaction to something - trust me, I feel it too. But sometimes people have more important things to do than even work (because you are right, this IS their job) and we should give them grace. We are adults and adults don't always get what we want :)

There's a reason why Rick is missing and it's been talked about numerous times through various posts, podcasts, etc. On top of the mental health issues he's dealing with, there were complications from his recent surgery.

Perhaps this is related? Not sure if it will be more long term or if he is accommodating things as he learns more about himself, but I think this can be expected for at least awhile
