When I'm watching this show, I don't often take in the style of the music. I do agree that music can elevate a scene and sometimes it doesn't fit, but there is so much more to the composition of a piece of media like this. Even just in the music, there's tempo, rhythm, and where the beats fall. I felt like the fact that I didn't notice the tone meant that it worked to emerse me into what was happening on screen.

Like in Lord of the Rings it makes sense to have different themes for the different groups. Remember this world is the same in a movie where a brownie said, "I stole a baby" and unlike other fantasy shows, has characters with American accents.

2022-12-27 05:26:08 +0000 UTCIt doesnt really bother me, tyhpugh I wish they'd do more like ie: Great Gatsby & change modern music to fit with the era/theme Its kind of like the School for Good & Evil movie, they had quite a bit of new songs & it didnt really fit with the era but it didnt bother me (the You should See Me In A Crown scene was INCREDIBLE though, stan Sophie)

2022-12-23 05:02:46 +0000 UTCI only just watched the original with you guys so I have no deep connection to the movie, but the music in the show doesn't bother me at all, really. It feels like it fits in to the age of Scott Pilgrim, The Adventure Zone, etc with the alternative fantasy style. If anything, the soundtrack's just a bit basic at times. Maybe thinking of the show as a reboot rather than a sequel in terms of style a la Tron to Tron: Legacy/Uprising or the Star Trek movies would help ease the disconnect

Blindwave is starting become grumpy old men. I get missing the score but I rather have cool sounding music then a Bad attempt at a score for a show. Cough the Kenobi sound track

2022-12-22 19:16:53 +0000 UTCIt’s not like modern classical-sounding movie scores are actually any more period accurate to most historical dramas - let alone in fantasy worlds. And Willow was hardly ever so serious that it needs some generic historical fantasy score to fit the tone.
