Willow 1x1 + 1x2 - Poll!

Who is your favorite new character?

Comments

I really like Elora, considering that although she's not exactly a "new" character, she's the one who carries a burden as the baby who went through all the chaos of the movie.

Agreed. The tone is in line with the 80's film; which I loved as a kid. This series isn't supposed to be Game of Thrones in its serious themes. It's supposed to be high fantasy with a bit of cheesiness along the way.

I really like Kit, her actor (Ruby Cruz) only has a few roles under her belt so far but has had a great presence in the show so far.

Oh shit you're right, I knew I recognized her!

I like Kit. She seems to have traits from both her parents. Oh B.T.W it after watching original movie and now show, I just realized the actress playing Sorsha is in Daredevil season 3, Matt's Mom.

i like the show as well. what i heard is people dont like the writing cause they speak in modern jargin. and im like: this isnt game of thrones lol. like did they see the og film? save for the highborn characters they mostly spoke plainly especially madgartagen. people see period set pieces and immediately thought "it has to be shakespeare" and when its not its "bad writing" vs me going "oh, this is how they are speaking? ok"

Went for Graydon because he's come across quite charming and likeable so far and looks to have a good chance for some nice growth

I initially was tempted to go with Boorman but the more I thought about it I found myself more interested in Graydon. In that, he seems to have the most room for character growth but also that he has an element of mystery because unlike everyone else in the fellowship so far his personal stake in the quest is rather unclear. All we know is that his father told him to do so while whispering something before joining, perhaps he has been sent with ulterior motives? And even if true, he might rebel against his father's wishes and discover what he wants to do? Just seemed engaging to me. Other than that I also like seeing Tony Revolori play an almost exact counter to his role as Flash in Spiderman.

Its a tv series streaming on Disney plus, check it out, its pretty good, based off a older movie that is also good but a lil dated.

i like Elora

-I went with Boorman because he seems clearcut as the roguish and irreverent archetype, he's probably going to be changed the least at the end of the journey so he's the closest we have to a complete character in the new crop. -Kit is high on my list but she needs to grow out of being a prat (I'm sure she will) -Graydon, or rather his family and his way of being unfazed by attacks and doom omens, make me nervous that he is going to be a vehicle if not an agent for treachery and conflict or he'd be higher. He's amusing to have around. -I appreciate that Jade seems like she is going to be a stolid and reliable sword arm and temper to Kit and Elora, but her character depth isn't going to transition from how it affects those two to being her own until she conflicts with Ballantine. -Elora's not a new character, just an aged, (temporarily) nerfed, and recast one.

wtf is willow

I think the show is great so far. It’s weird seeing people think the writing is poor, when I think that just depends on how much you like the tone and story they are going for. I think what they are actually writing is quite good, it’s just far more light-hearted than every other live-action fantasy series on tv right now.

Can you guys react to The Sandman after

MOB12

Even when she was still Dove, I immediately fell love in with Elora because of how adorable she was. Plus I’m excited to her finally be an actual character, she’s basically King Arthur Pendragon by way of a Disney Princess. It will be interesting seeing her character go through this gender flipped rendition of the typical Hero’s Journey narrative and to witness her and Willow (her Merlin) having to learn from one another as a fun little subversion of the usual mentor and student dynamic in these kind of stories. Speaking of Arthurian Legend, Willow’s vision has me worried for Elora, as it gave me some serious Battle of Camlann vibes.
