Didn't like it. They basically did Captain America's story beat by beat. I was exp something different and unique. The fact that Steve becomes the first Iron Man doesn't save it for me. Even the end credits is the same. What's next, Black Widow is an archer and Hawkeye is from Russia?

Mauricio Ramirez

Exceeding my expectations but they where pretty low. I do find Captain Carter a more interesting idea than Captain America but he is one of my least favourite Avengers.

Depressed Duck Daddy

it was better than i think, but im waiting for the insane "what if", in the comics they are creatives so i wait for something like that, not the same story of course but that energy i think

Technically met my expectations. I expected the stories to not really have any emotional weight and be too quickly paced, and I was indeed bored halfway through the first episode

Tony Ramos

There's a lot of potential for amazing story telling in the series but I'm not a fan of the animation art style. Just looks like a netflix original anime and I haven't found any of those to be very pleasant on the eyes.

UchihaGene

Good starting point but it was basically a play by play of First Avenger. Hoping for more variety going forward. Always a treat to see Hayley Atwell in the MCU

Young Ish Jon

It exceeded my expectations, I was expecting Peggy as a stand in for Steve, and I got portal monsters and awesome fights and Steve as Iron Man.

BigSteve Kasten

You found this to be weaker than the first ep of WandaVison?

michael

Felt like they were throwing too many different Cap stories into one, enjoyed it but would also be fine if I never watched it again. Didn't dig the animation style at all

michael

It pretty much met expectations for me. I thought the ending was really rushed and I didn't like how they did the Peggy pushing the giant squid monster through the portal. They could've came up with a better way for her to knock it back. I will say it's a good thing that Peggy and Steve didn't get a chance to hook up because we might've had a death by snu snu scenario.

Glynn Rockwell

It's easy to exceed expectations when you have none.

k9commander

Wasn't sure what to expect, but if was fun. Liked the way the animation flowed, lighting, the paintings, but the character models themselves I'm not too big on. They look great from far away when it's half silhouette, but up close they're weird to me.

C-Dubble

I honestly came in to the episode with almost no expectations at all, but i absolutely pleasantly surprised

Steffen K

I liked it overall. The animation style was decent during some parts and amazing during others. The writing was pretty corny, but I guess that comes with the territory. And the fast pace didn't do it any justice, but I understand that they have to fit an entire movie plot into 30+ minutes. I'm excited for the next one!

Conner Sims

I thought it was going to be amazing and it was. Marvel knows what I like. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

RiteTheWrongs

The story was a little meh but the animation and fight scenes were amazing and exceeded my expectations

MOB12

Loved it easily exceeded my expectations and I loved the animation and well executed action sequences. Will be watching every week.

Totally agree. The voice acting and dialogue was really subpar. Not all actors are good voice actors.

Able

As a big fan of the What If? comics, I had higher-than-normal expectations going into this show, and the show did exceed my expectations, if only by a little bit. I didn't expect the action sequences to be so imaginative, fluid, and well-lit, and I really didn't expect that they'd have Steve stick around; I thought he was a goner the second he got shot. Not only did they let him live, they made him into that reality's Iron Man, a nice little twist that I never saw coming (when I saw that Iron Man in the trailers, I thought it was gonna be Howard Stark in there, or maybe a very young Nick Fury, since Fury did fight in WWII in the original comics timeline). Also, the voice work was excellent all around; nobody "phoned it in".

Quwykxz

"Met my expectations" is really good when a big part of the fandom expects the best show/movie ever everytime something new comes out

Bekss

I went in with zero expectations because it is a What if? show. I didn't know how they would structure it, but I like these one-off episodes starting at each choice that caused the branch. I didn't think I would love it as much as I did. Like Aaron said too, I wasn't expecting too many of the actually actors and was pleasantly surprised.

I was looking forward to this more than any other Marvel show and am very, very happy with the first episode. I really like the one episode story format and the opportunity it gives for low-risk experimentation. And if they want to give the series an over-arching story to connect all the episodes or if they decide to revisit some of the individual stories later, I'm cool with those options too. Plus, the episode just looked great - very much a comic book feel.

Aquitaine

Captain Carter kicked ass and I am 100% on board that. Although, I felt like there were things that could've been fleshed out more and some scenes that could've been shorter but overall I enjoyed the premier and I can't wait to see more episodes.

Aveya

I enjoyed it, and there was some really cool things in it, but it didn't wow me.

Well they needed the mech. All the super soldier serum does is make you strong. I also loved their romance it was cool how they needed eachother.

God Enel

It met my expectations, which weren't very high. I didn't hate it, but animation isn't my thing, then combined with an alternate history anthology story line just isn't a recipe for excitement for me personally. I'll probably reassess in the future now that the multiverse is a thing, on the chance that these stories carry over into live action affecting the sacred timeline. One positive note I'll add is that, even though the voice acting overall wasn't amazing, whoever they got to voice Steve Rogers did a good job of sounding like Chris Evans. There were times even knowing it wasn't him that I could have believed it was.

Dylan Carpenter

why did you go into it hating it?

DarkAshtar

I really enjoyed it, I thought it'd be similar to the regular Captain America type story, but things were vastly different Also so happy she was Captain Carter not Captain Britain as there already is one.

DarkAshtar

They tried a bit too hard to hit the 'Stations of Canon' (i.e. the same major points for CA:TFA). Peggy getting the shield is the worst bit in that regard. In the movie, Steve was given the shield as part of the USO Show. He grew to like having it and when he was properly kitted out, he wanted a new one. In this, Howard Stark gives Peggy a shield for... reasons. And worse, the super rare metal one. The only reason presented here to give her a shield is that Steve had one, therefore she had to have one too. That's not a good reason.

Seefah

I liked the story and episode, but it felt like I was watching a movie on x2 speed. The dialogue was very fast and it felt like they had everyone speak quickly so we could fit what had been a full movie into 33 minutes

super meh. i dont know what i was expecting but it was not amazing like folks said it was. my mind was NOT blown. im ready to see new characters not the same ole mcu folks. would have been super cool if captain britain showed up...........also the "squid" monster could be shuma gorath, a dr. strange villain. he's the only other dimensional octopod that i know of. plus multiverse and dr. strange 2..........

rickie woodson

I didn't really know what to expect, but what I got was awesome. Always love seeing Peggy Carter kicking ass. Exceeds expectations.

Jeanette C

I hated it, but I went in thinking I'd hate it so maybe I just was seeing it how I wanted to see it. I'll be more open minded for episode 2 before passing judgement.

Chris Peacock

Ilike what if stuff so it easily met my expectations

spencer

It definitely felt rushed but the animation and action definitely exceeded my expectations, just wish we had a breather in the episode.

I personally found it a bit underwhelming. The premise is very cool, and I love "What if..." scenarios a lot. To me it felt akin to a Saturday morning cartoon than the typical Marvel shows that I'm accustomed to, so it was a bit different for me. The action and animation were good, but I felt the dialogue was quite cheesy.

Aura Y

I thought it was great. The animation was spectacular and the action was easy to follow and very exciting.

Thontor

My expectations weren't high, to be honest, but I liked it. The Watcher narrating is a good choice, I was worried it would just be a bunch of random stuff with the explanation open to interpretation, which I would've hated.

Kyle S

I mostly like it more than I expected, but some parts of the episode just seemed weird so I'm saying it balances at "met expectations".

Kevin Bartelen

I don't think this one should have been the pilot seeing how most people didn't watch agent Carter. I liked the episode though.

Josh Bornman

Really enjoyed it maybe a little too short

SpoRTan

Didn't have any expectations and it was meh

The length is definitely a problem for me. Pause for 5 sec if aaron didn't make a that's what she said joke after that flick him calvin cuase he is off his game

Dip602

It MOSTLY met my expectations. The animation was gorgeous and the overall story was great. However, the voice acting was subpar for the most part and it seems obvious that very few of the cast members have done serious Voice work before. The humour was also a little on the nose and meta, especially with Bucky, which I wasn't a big fan of. Pacing was too fast, which I guess can't be avoided, trying to cram a 2 hour movie into 30 minutes. 65% seems a fair score for Ep 1; good, but could have been much better.

Seefah

First time in 6 years (since the old channel) Blind Wave is reacting to a show I worked on! Im so giddy!!

Erich Bomke

I don't know what my expectations were for this, but it was definitely the weakest first episode out of all the Marvel shows so far me. The action was great, Peggy was great, but overall the voice acting and pacing just felt off.

KevinFromNewYork

Was genuinely suprised by the animation, was enjoying enough that when I though the episode was ending wasn't even halfway done.

Joel

This show astronomically blew past my expectations. It's Marvel, so I knew it'd be good, but shit, even as an anthology series, this started out great. Really can't wait for more.

MarkIsDaBoss

I enjoyed everything for the most part, the story just felt way too rushed. Understandable being 30-ish minute episodes but some scenes really needed an extra minute or two to breathe. Otherwise very enjoyable.

Trent Fredrickson

It was good. I wish there'd been a bit more focus on Peggy and less with Steve.

Melissa Bruce

So far it’s been everything the trailers have shown. But the animation exceeds my expectations.

The animation and voice work was really well done I thought the voice actor for Steve did a really good impression it pretty much met the expectations I set for it

Christian Bolda

Wasn’t amazing, wasn’t bad, but it held my attention. Similar to early agents of shield season 1. I’m invested but not excited.

Sara-Jayne

The animation feels like a CG version of classic Disney animation so I dig it. The fight scenes are much more impressive and I can’t wait for more. (Also would Bucky have known what calamari is?)

Cal

The animation was good, I wasn't expecting it to be anything ground breaking just a fun look in to the Multiverse which is what we were given however some of the one liners mainly Buckys didn't land well with me

Voice acting was sub par. Even when it was briefly good the facial animations looked like a ps2 era cutscene. The story was too fast paced, it didn't have room to breathe. Probably because it was just a gender swapped rehash of the first Captain America movie. There was some cool action scenes and cute callbacks to other stuff Overall it was disappointing but that's the thing, next week its an entirely different concept

Jack Kelly

The animation was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be, so I guess it exceeded my expectations lol

SpeedyCat19

I'm satisfied with it, however, I hope later episodes get a little more creative with the concept of alternative timelines.

Ethan Prendergast

This episode was good but could have been better. I think it was too short which threw the pacing off and made for missed opportunities or a feeling like they could have done more with the concept. Hopefully the rest of the episodes don't have this same problem

DC Fanboy

I was underwhelmed this episode, I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. I felt like it needed 7-8 more minutes because the scenes felt rushed. Could of gave some of the scenes more room to breathe.

Deadpool

feels about right for what i was expecting. not sure if the show will have anything mindblowing as such, as its not the main timeline we're seeing, but you never know what could come later!

KuroOberon

the show was great. this episode was pretty weak. I heard it only gets better from here. 6/10 for me.

Joaquin Fernandez

The animation is great, it has more action than Cap 1, the runtime makes them tell a story better (IMO), and of course Agent Carter is always amazing!

SonOfDarkHelmet

It's exactly what I thought the should would be, so it therefore met my expectations

Charlie James Verey

This show blew me away in its storytelling, animation style and overall feel. I loved the narration from the watcher and telling the exact moment that changed everything in this part of the multiverse. If this is just the beginning I can’t wait to see where this show goes from here.
