Star Wars: The Bad Batch 1x5 - Poll!

Do you think Muchi is meant to be the Rancor from Jabba's Palace, or is it another Rancor Jabba has in addition to that Rancor?

I voted same but that makes me sad, so I changed my mind...

Rae

ashoka series more so

Dutchea

Loving the reactions …So hype for Obi-Wan series πŸ€ͺ

I think they left it open for interpretation, so that they can avoid complaints about making the universe smaller.

Director Scarlett

I trust Eric's star wars knowledge. It must be different, Jabba could just have a vast collection of Rancors

Hasn't Disney said that any Live Action takes precedence over animated and any shows take precedence over written material and so forth? I still think it's a different Rancor since Filoni would know the current canon I imagine, but I swear I've seen them say that somewhere.

Tim Ott

I'd think Jaba would have more than one and Muchi is still alive. I hope she shows up in Book of Boba and mistakes Boba for Wrecker and recognizes him as a hierarchical superior.

I hope it's not the same one because now I feel sorry for Muchi, I hope she had a long and happy life and wasn't killed by Luke

For continuity's sake I would say that Jabba owned more than one Rancor through the years.

Collecter343

Actually, Muchi escaped Jabba's palace since they were underfeeding her, and became a rival crime boss to Jabba. Muchi is going to be the main antagonist in The Book of Boba Fett!

Adam A

I want to say its a diffrent one because "Canon" books confirmed the one from the Palace was male.... But three most recent shows have shown very little care for non on screen adaptions whether it be changing the battle of mandalore, how Kanan lost depa dilaba or what happen in tattoije with Cobb and the armour. So I wouldn't be surprised if they want to make it the same one.

They're the same - but I like the Fan Comic where the poor lil thing survives it's run-in with Luke and is nursed back to health :D

Coeus

Like Eric said Pateesa is the one Luke kills. I think it makes more sense that Jabba would just have multiple rancors.

Reece Hart

It's in the new canon that the rancor in RotJ is a) called Pateesa and b) male. Muchi is female (and, of course, not called Pateesa). Unless this is another Filoni-retcon, it's a different Rancor.

It’s different. Already confirmed by those in charge.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)

It's at least heavily implied, and if so, Luke killed that poor girl πŸ˜‚

Sam K

It would be weird if it wasn't the same rancor, and knowing Filoni, it probably is.

I think she is force sensitive, but she doesn't use the Force actively like a Jedi. More like the Force is strong with her and she is guided by it indirectly.

AndyV85

Probably was meant to be the same one early in production, but later was changed to a different name and gender

Tony Ramos

I think she was going to be the pit Rancor but wouldnt eat people and Jabba had her put to death like a broken down horse but the Rancor trainer sent her free.

Skeletor

On a different subject i think Omega is telepathic instead of being force sensitive.

Bobby Summerly

What's the point of showing it if it's not meant to be the same one, or potentially the mother of the rancor from episode

StupidWebcam

I think it's probably meant to be a different rancor. We're given two concrete pieces of info about it: 1. It's female. 2. It's name is Muchi. The Rancor that Luke killed was a male named Pateesa, established in a canon novel. It seems like they were going out of their way to make it *not* the same rancor. Which means we can definitely get a spin-off series of Omega and Muchi as a crime-solving duo.

Liesmith

We know in canon Jabba had multiple rancors, and the one in Return of the Jedi is a male called Pateesa (all from the canon novel Aftermath)

IrishNexus

So the rancor Luke killed had a name...

How many years is it between Bad Batch and Return of the Jedi? Is it enough time for it to grow up?

Dapper David

Gotta be different dog because this one is a lady and the other one is a man

I think it's obviously the same one! Why would you even have a rancor from jabbas palace that is a teenager if it wasn't the one from episode 6?

Johannah Cech

It’s 100% the same it looks the exact same I compared a screenshot I took from the episode and a picture of the rancor fro ROTJ they look exactly the same just one is smaller

Christian Bolda

Not the same, it's just one of Jabba's many Rancors.

Barry

Totally possible it's the same, or Muchi is bred from the other one which is supposed to be male with a different name that's been in Jabba's possession for over a decade by this point. Side note Ming-Na is 57 so Fennec here would be around 28 given the 29 year gap and live action Fennec is roughly the same age as the actress is.

Dominic D

I would of said yes but with since the rancor already has a name in cannon I don’t think they would change the name for no reason

Prince of Za Waurdo Over Salmon

Given that Pateesa was male and Muchi is female. It's pretty damn definitive that they're different Rancor.

Casualdoom12

I think its the same one

spencer

Until we get a definitive answer, my headcanon is that Muchi is a different rancor, and is a present from Jabba to Rotta. Stinky's old enough to have a dangerous predator as a pet, right?

Chance Berent Yager

I think Moochie is a pet name and this is in fact Jabbas scary pit dwelling beasty. You try living in a pit for a couple of decades getting fed the odd enemy of the boss or unfortunate Gamorian Guard. You'd be pissed πŸ˜‚

Reddevilman77

It’s obviously the chip.

Trey Harbor

The real question should be whether Wrecker's headaches are foreshadowing to his chip activating or it's simply nothing.

Stompy

Am i the only one who votes even though i’ve never even seen the show lol

saulβ„’

The Rancor from ROTJ was named Pateesa in canon in one of the Aftermath books, but Bad Batch already showed a willingness to lightly retcon some written material. As seen with little Kanan.

Sam Swarms

This. New poll please chaps. This really isn't worthy of one...

Paul Murphy

The rancor from The Return of the Jedi was a male named Pateesa

Not sure of the lifespan of rancors but is not the same, I thought it was?

Joel

I'm gonna say the same just to go against Eric cuase half way through reading my QnA he started blabring about some skull that has a name and then didn't read my Q πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Dip602

Seems like it and I instantly felt sad as we know how muchi came to an end 😒

Looks and sounds the same and the fact that it is a adolescent but the one in Epsiode 6 was a male and had a different name. Of course they could of mistaken the gender and then given it a different name. So I'm 50/50 if it's the same one.

Trevor Darnell

I’m pretty sure we are told the name of Jabba’s Rancor in some EU content

I’m never gonna be able to watch Return of the Jedi the same way ever again. Why does 90% of expanded Star Wars material just make the movies so depressing

lewis is your patron

The same, I think it’d be weird to introduce a rancor that’s Jabbas and just have it be a random separate rancor

If we are going by current Canon then it should be different

Pretty sure it was established in one of the early new canon books that the one Luke killed was a male.
