I honestly thought it was going to be one of those moments where Iris' opinion is entirely unreasonable, and the majority of fans usually agree with Barry, but I got to say, I was pretty split this episode. I'm glad the writers made it a little more difficult to decide which side to agree and disagree with. It's a good change for Iris. But I still agreed with Barry more throughout the whole episode.

I think of it as a risk to reward kind of scenario. Barry’s plan seemed to me like it was low risk (they could’ve gotten away with it if they wanted to without any issue), high reward (that pretty much guaranteed that any of the forces would be unable to kill anyone in the future), while Iris’s plan seems like it was high risk (if the talking failed The chance that more people could die would increase), and high reward (having the forces on your side could be quite helpful in the future). So to me it seemed pretty obvious but I guess it depends on where you wanna hedge your bets.

CJ

To be honest, neither. But I can see more logically that Barry's was best especially where Timeless Wells was able to help keep the timeline intact while Barry did his thing.

SPARTAN 465

I don't like either very much but I just want them one time to follow the most important rule we have established for so long "Don't mess with the timeline".

nickp3065 .

2 things I'm getting done with. 1. Barry always being wrong (This time it seems Iris realized she was wrong as well) However, Barry was 100% right with taking away the forces. It was just like the meta cure all over again. They are hurting/killing people that should give them the right to take the powers away. 2. I'm tired of Barry and Iris love being that deus ex machina trope. For one it's cringy and a very ridiculous (In my opinion) two it gives me flashbacks to Arrow season 4. (The dark ages... no pun intended)

I do not think she is devoid of positive emotions though. I think it is more that Speed Force was an obstruct being that didn’t really have human emotions, but now she has been given a true human form and emotions for the first time and she is experiencing them all for the first time. Her attitude of killing the other Forces seems to stem from fear of her own survival and anger for the attack that happened on her. As someone still new to these emotions that SF hasn’t truly gotten empathy yet or forgiveness. SF feels like a child in maturity right now and it is a common trope for an all powerful god like being to be given a mortal form for the first time and having to learn deal with emotions.

I saw a theory online about the speed force. OG Speedforce was usually calm, compassionate and passive. However the new speedforce was created with the help of Iris. The theory is that the new speedforce absorbed some negative traits from Iris such as greed, envy, fear and jealousy. The new speedforce has all the negative emotions and almost none of the positive emotions from before. I forgot who I saw the theory from so if you see/hear this I give all the credit to you!

Can someone tell Aaron they aren't demons lol

AustinMyB

Iris is the lesser evil. Barry learned to never travel to the past or make remnant after s3. S4 made it clear and we shouldnt go back to using them.

Doby Greg

I really wonder how many people vited this way just because they dont wanna agree with iris lol

Charlie baker

I dunno i cant see myself ever liking iris, felicity started great, was irritating towards s4+and then towards later on i liked her again. But with iris i was never super attached at the beginning and now she gives me lana from smallville vibes i just hate her more whenever shes on screen

Charlie baker

I think it’s safer to talk down the forces than time travelling plus even if the particles are absorbed is just leaves it open for any bad guy to steal it better reason with people who 3/4 I can see could be talked down

Prince of Za Waurdo Over Salmon

I feel like they've given Iris the Felicity syndrome. She's written to be the one that's right in the end, but she becomes antagonistic to our main protagonist in the process, making me not like her. I do respect that they put an end to it within the episode instead of dragging it out though, that was a nice change.

C-Dubble

Whoa, I've been away from The Flash for the last couple seasons, but if Gus and Shawn are villains, I'm back in!

TwistedMagoo

None of the forces, with perhaps the exception of Psych, seems truly evil. Try to bring them around

Flashback007

I agree with Barry's option for the simple fact that a time travel plot is more entertaining then another hallway talk

Fallen

option 3: hire new show writers.

TwistedMagoo

Neither. Maybe we need another Crisis to fix this mess.

TheUndeadFish

First take the easiest option: talk to them and if it doesn't work, then travel back in time and destroying the forces ... Ideally, find something in between :)

I'm just tired of them talking their way through problems. It doesn't seem like the Speed Force can just be convinced to not go around killing forces.

Luis Garcia

talking is always the best option. violence is always the last. time travel has proven to be a cluster fuck. JUST TAAAAAAAALK!

rickie woodson

Barry’s solution technically would have worked, but I didn’t like how the show just gave our characters a full proof way to use time travel to fix all their problems just to make Barry’s solution work. Like Eric said what is stopping Barry from saving his mom now that he could do it without fear or creating a new Flashpoint? For me I sided with Iris solution just because it doesn’t break the show by giving our team the ability to make changes in the timeline without any unwanted consequences.

Jjop017

I mean, they tried both of these solutions before and shit hit the fan. I'm going with Iris's plan because almost every time Barry goes the time travel route it becomes a plot device for the next villain. I kinda don't wanna see that again.

Bejo

Barry was definitely right. His way would've worked if he hadn't changed his mind because he was convinced he birthed them from his speed vagina

Chris

I agree with barry sorry but the speedforce would kill everyone barry loves team flash, iris, joe if it means getting rid of the other forces. The speedforce was willing to kill iris if it meant getting rid of the strength force. Barry tried to convince the speedforce but no luck. Time travel was the safe bet

spencer

they are forces of nature, its like giving gravity a pep talk. in the comics the speed force tried to destroy the new forces but there was no "pep talk".

Joaquin Fernandez

If Barry and Iris manage to turn at least one of them into an ally then its a win and worth it in the long run. If Fuerga is able to control her "strength force" she might be a good addition to the team maybe

Slim Shady

Every time the heroes talk to the villians the episodes suck. coincidence?

DC Fanboy

It’s time travel.... what can possibly go wrong.

Deadpool

At first glance I would agree with Barry, but looking at how the Speed Force basically grew a conscious (misguided as it might be) I kind of see Iris's point. To put in perspective think of Nobodies from Kingdom Hearts series.

Joel

Barry was wrong. Simple as that.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)

Barry's i agree ld with him the most
