I think if he makes the connection, it may be Edge steering him in that direction to blame Superman to throw him off of his secrets. It seems like the "resurrected" might almost literally be that in that they may be Kryptonians somehow possessing the humans & that the humans actually die in the process. Could be why Derek left that vmail to his mom before 'cause he didn't think he would come back. Also, when he came back here, he recoiled from his mother's touch, like he didn't really know her. He also said to Superman that he was no longer alone & called him Kal-El.
