What do you think Moff Gideon's goal with the experiments are?

Force-sensitive Sith droid soldiers, maybe? (Those black things we saw with Moff Gideon)

2020-12-04 00:44:41 +0000 UTCWhat if he's trying to clone a force user and he ends up looking like Sam Witwer. That's right bring on starkiller you COWARDS

2020-11-27 15:08:39 +0000 UTCI just hope this show just solely turns into a way to retroactively fill in gaps of knowledge the movies didn’t have time to cover.
Gavin Hardiman
2020-11-26 16:58:11 +0000 UTCI think he just want’s the power 4 himself and his elite troops not snoke or palpatine related at all. The troops at the end looked like purge troopers, maybe he used 2 be 1. Maybe he fought cal or another survivor of order 66.
2020-11-25 21:03:10 +0000 UTCMight be finally giving us an origin for Snoke
William Marston
2020-11-24 14:23:09 +0000 UTChonestly i do think it’s a combination of these; gideon seems to be power hungry so while maybe he’s been instructed to resurrect/clone palpatine, he’s gonna try to get some of dat force sensitivity for himself and his troopers. im excited tho because i don’t quite yet know which route they’re gonna take
2020-11-24 07:17:54 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure the most likely option is Dark Troopers. HOWEVER, I do think that just like how The Clone Wars added extra context and helped alleviate plot constrictions for the prequels, The Mandalorian may try to do the same for The Sequels and expand upon The Emporer's return. Filloni is great at fixing the more constrained elements of star wars.

2020-11-23 12:52:36 +0000 UTCHard for me to guess.

2020-11-22 22:18:10 +0000 UTCIn legends dark troopers had 4 phases with phase 0 basically being old clones becoming cyborgs (most unwilling and more than 70% of their body was replaced to bring them back to their peak physical condition, however most attempted suicide because they couldn’t live with their new bodies) , phase 1 and 2 were droids and phase 3 were droids that could be worn as an exoskeleton. They will prob do it differently in the new canon but it is confirmed that at the end of this episode we see dark troopers.

2020-11-22 11:25:03 +0000 UTCI have no idea but I am Stressed™ about it for sure.

2020-11-22 08:13:50 +0000 UTCI wonder if he is trying to make dark 'yodas'. A race of force sensitive users that lean to the dark side.

2020-11-22 05:28:56 +0000 UTCMOFF GIDEON’S SHIP: Arquitens-class Command Cruiser. Manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards, the Light Cruiser class ship was used by the Empire mostly as a patrol ship in the Outer Rim and for support in space combat. I recognized it from Rebels but had to look it up, so there you are! :)
Ziegenbagel
2020-11-22 04:28:35 +0000 UTCThe most compelling idea for me is that he's trying to turn himself into a jedi or sith lord. He's stolen a lightsaber, and it seems he must have been high up in the chain of command in the empire. Perhaps he knew of and/or saw what Palpatine and Vader were truly capable of, and now he wants that power for himself to become the new Emperor and/or Sith lord.
2020-11-22 04:08:02 +0000 UTCDo you think Palpatine cared enough about Vader to attempt cloning of him?
Erich Bomke
2020-11-22 02:53:21 +0000 UTCI got the impression that the troops at the end were ready to be deployed, where as the experiments in the lab have been unsuccessful so far. So I think the troops and experiments are unconnected.
Edina Lewis
2020-11-21 23:06:41 +0000 UTCI feel like, while yes the tank people look very Snoke-ish, he is trying to create a force sensitive clone army. It makes sense in him trying to rebuild the army that took over the galaxy, and maybe one day the technology will be used to make Snoke.
HollowAvarice
2020-11-21 22:20:07 +0000 UTCDark Forces and Dark Forces II Jedi Knight, to this day might be my favorite Star Wars franchise games. Rogue Squadron is way way up there as well, but Dark Forces was life changing, especially from '95-'97
Erich Bomke
2020-11-21 21:00:58 +0000 UTCFeel like the beings in the Tanks looked very Snoke like (Also swear the music was also reminiscent), but if those are Dark Troopers (Curse Dave Filoni for making me have nostalgia for my childhood games) then I can see them experimenting on Troopers, and if successful, using those results in bridging the gap between the New Sequels.
Lando
2020-11-21 20:00:11 +0000 UTCThe main reason I don't think it's Palpatine is that it was established in the Rise of Skywalker expanded novel that his clone body was already in development by the time of Return of the Jedi, and that through a variation of Essence Transfer, Palpatine transferred his conscience and spirit within that shell of a body as Anakin (not Vader) killed him the first time. It is possible that Palpatine is utilizing Force-sensitives and users to sustain himself, because it was also confirmed that his clone body was unable to fully hold his power, and was therefore deteriorating it, which why he looks like a corpse by the time of Rise of Skywalker. It may also be for Snoke, as we did see multiple Snoke bodies in the tank on Exogol, possibly failures before producing a successful proxy.
2020-11-21 19:24:26 +0000 UTCNot an expert in the old Star Wars: Dark Forces video game (made before I was even born) but this may be directly inspired by the dark troopers from that game. I mean we see that Gideon is dressing a lot like Vader so he may be trying to be Vader but reviving an old Imperial project that's.

2020-11-21 18:32:29 +0000 UTCI say a mix of B and C. He wants to empower his troops while making himself the strongest one.

2020-11-21 16:48:33 +0000 UTCOff topic but I just rewatched Rogue One and noticed the imperial lab Galen Erso worked at looks exactly like the one from last episode. Just cool to see Dave and Jon once again connect the universe together 😁
DonJimmy
2020-11-21 16:34:42 +0000 UTCI sincerely hope it has nothing to do with Snoke; The Rise of Skywalker was a burning tire on top of the mound of hot garbage that was The Last Jedi, and I don't want The Mandalorian succumbing to its toxic fumes.
Liesmith
2020-11-21 16:31:34 +0000 UTCI think it has to do with cloning which makes me think it's related to Snoke/Palpatine
Jeanette C
2020-11-21 15:36:06 +0000 UTCI think its something to do with snoke, or at least the start of the genetic testing for cloning on some kind
Demps 2002
2020-11-21 15:24:04 +0000 UTCI think these are the early prototypes of Snoke as his theme started playing when they were revealed
Nathan Armitage
2020-11-21 12:52:32 +0000 UTCTo me anyway, this looks like a finale standoff between Gideon &Dark Troopers verses Ahsoka, Bo-Katan for Baby Yoda. Possibly a trade...Ahsoka for Baby Yoda.
Robert Trainer
2020-11-21 11:34:15 +0000 UTCI hope its not about trying to resurrect anyone. I think thatd be pretty lame ngl
MOB12
2020-11-21 11:06:45 +0000 UTCI said he wants it for himself, he seems like the kind of person who is mostly thinking of #1 the experiments might be someone else but ultimately I believe it will come out that it was to make sure it was stable enough for the final result
Angus Whitehead
2020-11-21 10:42:12 +0000 UTCyah deffinately dark troopers and those tanks looked like they had Snoke in them for sure so looking to eventually get the body for Palpatine also that the Arquitens Light cruiser for sure but that shot was so epic I don't blame you
Christopher Martin
2020-11-21 09:22:54 +0000 UTCI think it's all for himself in the end, because Dave Filoni has this understanding of Star Wars that the dark side and light side is essentially selfishness and selflessness (he mentioned this in several con panels). He believes that all evil comes from the fear brought by selfishness, and I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to showcase this theory in his new show as well.
2020-11-21 08:05:16 +0000 UTCIt could have implications for the sequel trilogy, so I put down a combination. But I think the limited plot scope that we'll see it used for in this show is to implant force powers in clones that are going to fill those suits that we were looking at in the end there. The big, BIG problem, is that now that they've set up that Chekov's Gun, according to the literary rule, a force user will be captured and err... shall we say, be harvested. So given that we only have 2 force users known in this series, both of who are beloved by the fans... Well, someone's gonna be having a bad time.
Shmengels
2020-11-21 08:01:41 +0000 UTCI feel like Gideon is trying to create force sensitive clones to grow the empire's strength but it all comes down to how devoted to Palpatine he really was and whether or not he will try to use it for personal gain to become the new emperor or to try and bring back Palps
2020-11-21 07:49:30 +0000 UTCHe's gonna try it out on Darktroopers, and if it works on them, he'll use it on himself.
Quwykxz
2020-11-21 07:28:17 +0000 UTCI think it comes down to Snokes failed clones that preceded him and developed into The Emperor, but Mof G’s own ambitions makes him use the same cloning apparatus to develop his own troopers. We see Ahsoka in 5 but that’s it.
Andrew Traxler
2020-11-21 06:21:08 +0000 UTCSnoke’s theme actually plays during the scene, I think these are the proto-snokes predating EP 7-9
Bryan Ayuso
2020-11-21 06:04:53 +0000 UTCLike Gideon said in the last episode "Long live the Empire" and you cant have The Empire without their Emperor. Also the Emperor wants all the power for himself, so probably not ideal to have soldiers trained in the force who could overthrow him.
GoodAsGo1d
2020-11-21 05:18:36 +0000 UTCIt's definitely Snokes.
Kelvin
2020-11-21 04:14:51 +0000 UTCThis is more for the past episode. What if Bo-Katan is just against Din Djarin’s religion and they aren’t just a bunch of crazy zealots?
Gabe Mackey
2020-11-21 04:06:15 +0000 UTCThis doesn't have to do with the poll, but I want to draw your attention to the final scene with those "droid soldiers" at the end. If you listen to that scene with the audio option of English [audio description], the narrator refers to those troopers as "Dark Troopers"! So it is likely that these are some adaptation of the Dark Troopers from legends!
2020-11-21 02:51:12 +0000 UTCWhat if this is how they will attempt explaining the creation of Snoke.
Isaac Godoy
2020-11-21 02:36:45 +0000 UTCWhat if they’ve used Ahsoka’s blood for the cloning in RoS? 😬
Paul Murphy
2020-11-21 02:26:57 +0000 UTCI think it’s for soldiers and himself and I think that’s how he will defeat Ashoka and maybe kill her
2020-11-21 01:33:31 +0000 UTCIt’s probably force sensitive soldiers, but how awesome would it be if they were creating another Starkiller and we get duel between him and Ahsoka. Anakin’s padawan vs Vader’s apprentice
Adnan1610
2020-11-21 01:30:17 +0000 UTCI really dont want much stuff from the sequels in mandalorian.
Makeiks
2020-11-21 01:15:38 +0000 UTCThey look like Snokes in the tanks. By that I mean the hairless deformed creature like humanoid.
Erich Bomke
2020-11-21 00:45:07 +0000 UTCHis commitment to the empire makes me think it's palpatine plus it would fix that plot hole and problems from episode 9. I mean faloni make the prequels more better throught clone wars so could do same for sequel trilogy with this
2020-11-21 00:44:43 +0000 UTCI definitely think whatever he's up to, it will be in service of the Empire not so much his own ambitions. Also, did you spot the IG-11 statue outside the school on Nevarro?
2020-11-21 00:32:47 +0000 UTCIt's part of Palpatine's long game.
Barry
2020-11-20 23:45:19 +0000 UTCIs it just me or does that clone in at the imperial lab look kinda of like Snoke?
Trevor Darnell
2020-11-20 23:44:19 +0000 UTCI think Gideon is attempting a mixture of giving the force to his soldiers and himself. His possession of the Darksaber and his apparent knowledge of Mandalore probably means he has done his research and knows partly what force sensitives are capable of. This way he knows that having the force or at least control of a group of force sensitives would be a good way of securing his position of power in the fragments of the empire.
Applestu
2020-11-20 23:38:37 +0000 UTCI think Gideon is just trying to create Force Sensitive soldiers and is separate from First Order or Eternal Sith stuff. The Empire is fractured at this point so I think it would make sense to have a few splintered groups trying their own thing to restore the Empire and take back the galaxy. It might be more interesting to have a Imperial antagonists not tied to Palpatine.
Jjop017
2020-11-20 23:15:23 +0000 UTCI highly doubt it's related to the Emperor/Snoke stuff... Any imperials left at this point are remnants of the remnants, and these guys were definitely not a part of the Emperor's contingency plan... Anyone involved in the contingency at this point in time fled to the Unknown Region after the Battle of Jakku. Moff Gideon is probably acting on his own, and positioning himself for a power grab. I wouldn't be surprised if he's ultimate goal with the experiments is to give himself force powers, I mean he already has a lightsaber. (and if there's a "bigger bad" behind his actions, it's not Emperor/Snoke/FirstOrder related but maybe someone like Thrawn, who could have already been found at this point, and would make a good villain later on in the show when it's time to kill off Gideon)
n p
2020-11-20 23:00:52 +0000 UTCI feel like it's gonna be a combination of palpatine stuff and him just wanting more power for himself. Maybe something like he got the order to conduct these experiments to bring back palpatine but in the end he changes his intent to using them for himself instead
2020-11-20 22:34:50 +0000 UTCI hope it won't tie into Palpatine/Snoke, but I fear it will.
zezibesh
2020-11-20 22:12:46 +0000 UTCThis show feels too small scale for such an event, honestly.
zezibesh
2020-11-20 22:12:07 +0000 UTCgive the force to soldiers
spencer
2020-11-20 22:11:39 +0000 UTCI doubt it will happen but i hope a blue skin red eyed character will come back and help Gideon
2020-11-20 21:55:07 +0000 UTCI hope it doesn't tie into Palpatine's clone stuff, but I feel like that's where it's heading. Although I trust this show to slowly delve into sequel stuff, even if I don't want to see it.
Dr. Bobcat
2020-11-20 21:53:38 +0000 UTCI believe he is trying to create either a new Sith emperor, similar to Thrawn in an old Legends book, or create an army of Sith warriors like Vader in the Force Unleashed 2.
Matthew Cronin
2020-11-20 21:49:01 +0000 UTCInitially I think Moff Gideon's intentions were to resurrect Palpatine. While that might still be his main goal, Gideon could very well be taking some liberties by trying to develop an elite unit of force sensitive soldiers. Maybe even trying to make himself force sensitive if all goes well. For all we know he might want to reinstate the empire with him as the emperor. He does have the dark saber and if he thinks that he can become force sensitive he probably feels untouchable.
2020-11-20 21:41:43 +0000 UTCIt makes me think these are prototypes to Snoke, hence the need of force sensitive blood. Since Palps made a ton of Snoke clones as we saw in The Rise Of Skywalker.
The Das
2020-11-20 21:36:53 +0000 UTCI think he plans to use them for Force Soldiers BUT i think he will not be able to harvest enough Midichlorians and thus have to give the Force to himself.
Raj
2020-11-20 21:35:46 +0000 UTCI completely agree, but this show definitely has been the platform for them to fill in gaps and holes.
Erich Bomke
2020-11-20 21:10:16 +0000 UTCI hope its not Palpatine related, I really want Gideon to stand on his own as a villain and try to become the new emperor. I'll say force sensitive soldiers.
ElBilbo
2020-11-20 20:51:19 +0000 UTCI was just shocked to hear Midichlorians referenced in modern Star Wars
Daniel R
2020-11-20 20:51:13 +0000 UTCI think, or rather i hope, thoese Troopers at the end are Shadow Troopers, from the Jedi Knight games. OR Dark Troopers, from the Dark Forces games. I hope we see Ahsoka next Episode...but...boy... if we also could meet a Kyle Katarn, That would be awesome.
Kevin
2020-11-20 20:44:21 +0000 UTCGustavo by a long shot
Nicholas
2020-11-20 20:29:26 +0000 UTCTotally not related but who wins the most frightening contest between Moff Gideon, Gustavo Fring, and Stan Edgar??
Deadpool
2020-11-20 20:18:05 +0000 UTCBasically after the Empire was defeated in Episode VI, the remnants watched Avatar, and said instead of having evil fire benders, just make the entire army into a bunch of air benders.
Joel
2020-11-20 20:12:55 +0000 UTCMaybe he trying to artificially increase people Midi-chlorians count or something like that.
zell
2020-11-20 20:06:01 +0000 UTCForce sensitive soldiers, probably with Dark Trooper styles, and research experiments that will eventually culminate in Snoke. Though I do not think Gideon's faction will personally do the later. Merely the information that could lead to it
ObligedUniform
2020-11-20 20:04:45 +0000 UTCHe is capturing Mandaloreans, turning them into force sensitive soldiers, and spreading fear throughout the galaxy. Either that or it’s a private collection of death troopers to protect him from whispers of the emperor
TheLastSenzuBean
2020-11-20 20:01:02 +0000 UTCIf you watch the episode with descriptive audio it calls them “dark troopers” so I’m guessing the M-count testing is unrelated to them.
Alhussein Aldujaili
2020-11-20 19:59:22 +0000 UTCHe wants an army of Force sensitives maybe even on the orders of the Emperor
Christian Bolda
2020-11-20 19:51:30 +0000 UTCI think this is mostly to make an army of force sensitive troopers. But it's also definitely a start into the whole Palpatine/Snoke situation. I'm very excited to see how the Troopers turn out!!
LouiseJulie
2020-11-20 19:50:52 +0000 UTCAn army of force users sounds the most effective. Also resurrecting Palapatine? what a stupid idea. No one would ever do that.....
DC Fanboy
2020-11-20 19:46:08 +0000 UTCThose looked like Dark Troopers so I think that's what The Child is for. They're taking his blood and giving it to troopers so they can wield the force.
Niall Larkins
2020-11-20 19:45:54 +0000 UTCGive the force to Mother Talzin, this seems like her MO
Collar Spider
2020-11-20 19:45:44 +0000 UTCIf they tie this in to Palpatine...can you imagine? I love this show 😂
Sam K
2020-11-20 19:45:33 +0000 UTCI think it's getting Palapatine back but i can see him just wanting the power of the force for himself
