Doctor Who 11x1 Reaction - Early Access!

They start using an anamorphic lens from this point, so those be real in camera flares and the aspect ratio is different. I have heard that over in Canada and American some people saying that they broadcast the episodes in the wrong aspect ratio for some reason? I don't if you guys have that or not.

Long time watcher on YouTube, first time Patreon. I actually joined because of series 11, which I liked but didn't love. I really like Thirteen, I like the companions, I like a lot of the individual episodes, and unlike past series, there was nothing here I absolutely hated. I thought it looked great and, while the music was a huge change from Murray Gold's work which I loved, it felt like a return to Doctor Who's more experimental, Delia Derbyshire roots. I'm looking forward to your reactions to these episodes and series 12 once you get there.

The main problem is in fact that they actually tried to trick viewers into thinking that there's an actual major storyline. The ark of the antagonist here ends with the last episode of the season, but there's nothing in between besides that one scene in the second episode, where they were talking about his race. There's also a villain in "Rosa" that seemed to be important for later episodes. He's never been seen in this season again. If you really want to do the whole "enemy of the week" thing, do it. But don't introduce antagonists with open endings.

While most people like to remember the great Episodes, there were quite a few stinkers in new Who before Chibnall. In my Opinion Series 11 has no really bad Episode. But Orphan 55 in Series 12 was a really bad Episode, although not the worst Episode of new Who. But Series 11 did not reaches the highs we have with the good Episodes before. And Series 12 has us covered in that regard as well.

A lot of people here don’t get that Chibnall was trying to make this season more appealing for Classic Who fans. That’s mostly why there’s a lack of major storyline and why he wanted to make the episodes a little more educational as that’s what Doctor Who was originally about. Episodes in the future were supposed to teach kids science and episodes in the past were supposed to teach kids history. New who kind of went full sci-fi, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But there’s also nothing wrong with what they’re trying to do here.

Not my favorite series as most people here said. It's not bad but we were used to great/excellent episodes and it's hard to see a series full of good or 'meh' episodes. When you know they could've done so much more.

Exactly my feeling. This is good sci-fi, and good single adventures. It's not like most seasons of NuWho, and certainly not the Moffat years, but that's a good thing in my opinion, a change was needed; it got too complex

I never really understood the hate this series got, it's not my favorite but it wasn't that bad either. It has some great episodes and the lack of a series-long arc wasn't an issue for me, I grew up on the classic series and outside of Trial of a Timelord, there were no series-long arcs.

I am watching alongside with the crew and Jodie's performance was good, but she copies Tennant a lot. I hope she brings something new to the character, to make it different from the others.

Probably my least favorite season. But that’s not to say it’s terrible - I mostly just have a “meh” reaction to it. Nothing awful, nothing fantastic either. But that’s just me. I do hope the guys enjoy it, though! They have a way of making me see things I initially didn’t care as much for just a little more fondly. Looking forward to their reactions!

This is not my favorite Series, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It has some clunkers but also has some VERY excellent episodes. I feel like Series 2 and 3 were similar in the clunker-to-banger ratio.
