Doctor Who 10x13 Reaction Early Access!

I quite enjoy that episode. I find it heartwarming . For me 12th is the real end of the the doctor's life circle and 13th is his new beginning.

Doby Greg

Out of curiosity Nick, what did you think of Matt’s send off? I found it very disappointing & felt he’d been really let down by his final episode, so curious what you thought if he’s your Doctor.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

is that including all the bonus episodes?

Sandro Sliske

Matt Smith remains my favourite Doctor, but there is no denying how wonderful Peter Capaldi was in this role and how beautiful his send off was.

Nick Earl

Great reaction. Thus was one of the better Christmas specials for me. I’ll be curious to see how you find the new era. I like Jodie but the writing has been disappointing me overall. Chris Chibnall did write Doctor Who during Tennant’s era, plus some Torchwood. I’d also strongly recommend Broadchurch to watch / react to. It was a superb drama. Oh and I love that last Capaldi speech. Words for everyone to try and practice: “Never be cruel, never be cowardly......Remember – hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise. Always try, to be nice and never fail to be kind.”

Victoria E (vickster5001)

It's been fun ya'll!

MrSkarred

Gracepoint is the US adaptation of Broadchurch. I enjoyed both of them, but Broadchurch was better.

I'm actually kind of impressed. Doctor Who was able to create a compelling story without an actual villian.

Capaldi's final speech annoyed me, it went on WAY too long. If he had at least someone to talk to but that long winded monologue bored me to death.

I said this before and I will say it again if Doctor Who was to end as a show, then this episode would have been (Not Perfect) a satisfying or good way to do it. They can keep the war doctor but if they get rid of the 2nd David Tennant regeneration then that would have made Peters Doctor be the last Doctor of the cycle. The story of the last doctor convincing the first doctor to keep going all while knowing that this is his last life and also the fact that there isn't really an enemy for the story I think makes it better gives more time for the characters and the struggle they face in the story. Also having it be (roughly) taking place during in my opinion the biggest act of kindness and love the Christmas armistice, also Peters last monologue to Bill and Nardole really makes it act like this is the end of the entire thing. I could go on for ages explaining how this is a, again not perfect, but a satisfyingly good end for the show, there are things I would change to make it a lot better but for what we got I'm happy with.

Jodie Whittaker was also in Broadchurch with David Tennant so they knew each other well. He even coached her on a few things for Doctor Who.

There's actually been 856 episodes now. The 800th episode was Matt Smith's final episode. The 700th episode was 'Aliens of London' (the Slitheen episode with Eccelstone) I believe, not 'Oxygen'.

You know Jodie from Black Mirror btw.

Bernhard Escher

Actually the episode they flashed back to was the end of season 3 (over 100 episodes in) not the first episode, so 9 episodes ago would not have been the 700th.

William Tanner

Where is the full length <3

Jason Fisher

They say it, but they all still watch it anyway.

Danny Casey-Tancock

We saw a time lord choose to not regenerate when the master took over the world in David Tennants run. He was shot and chose not the regenerate to spite the doctor.

Spoilers sweetie ;) They are gonna lose their shit though!

Danny Casey-Tancock

Can't wait for you guys to see season 11. I liked it more than most, though there are more bleh episodes than great ones, but I think Jodie is a fantastic Doctor. Her bright optimism is a nice contrast to Capaldi's surliness.

Danny Casey-Tancock

Yeah Series 11 is gonna be pretty dull, but I'm loving Series 12 thus far

Dominic D

So many close minded individuals love saying that they're going to stop watching from this point forward, as if any of the rest of us care.

Rohe Garcia

Man its so sad that the doctor chose to die rather than regenerate but it makes sense that he's had enough after such a long life.

Shadow

Very curious to hear their thoughts on this next season...

LadyMaria

Wow, its taken you three years to reach this point. What a journey! Tennant will always be my favourite Doctor from New Who, but Ecclestone, Smith and Capaldi each brought something awesome to the table.

Jon Dub

Yikes Aaron how could you miss out that Chibnall wrote loads of Torchwood?

Matgo Styles

So excited for them to get to the Whittaker era. The era that made me a fan and my first doctor

chad welsh

Before everyone else jumps in, I'm excited for the series 11 reactions. Series 11 is a nice breather from all the plot twists and pure energy from the Moffat era.

Lynn Walker

Gonna be great! And interested in what the crew will think of Jodie! I'm indifferent so far but she doing better in series 12

This is it my friends... the end of an era.

Cue people whining and being dramatic about how this is the last episode they're ever watching on here..... Regarding the episode itself, I really hated how they made the First Doctor (a Time Lord who is "years beyond humanities petty obsession with gender") a massive sexist British arsehole from the 1960s for the sake of cringe-comedy.

“So this is what it means to be a Doctor of War.”
