Stop underrestimating Nen already. You can accept stupid crap like CW shows, Star Wars and other Shonen and are that bothered by Nen being seen digitally? I don't why Eric and Aaron are suddenly being such nitpicky smartasses. And your Azula hate is still stupid.

I think what is tripping you guys up is Shalnark is using a phone, but remember characters can channel nen into physical objects and grant those objects with new abilities. For example Hisoka channels nen into cards to cut people. Shalnark seems to channel his nen into his needle to infect the person with his nen so he can control them. My guess is he uses his nen on the phone so he can type commands in his phone like a video game. He probably could have done it another way, but he chose to use his phone.
