I never said there wasn't any good dubs. I said in genera/on average dubs are awful. This is a known thing among the anime community, the english VAs they get are rarely good, there's only a few exceptions. If they spent more $$$ they would get better actors. But it's a niche market outside of asia so that's rare (Afro Samurai, FMAB etc)

You say it's common knowledge that english voice actors aren't as good, and I say to you sir that is hogwash. It's not common knowledge, it's a common misconception derived from bandwagonning weebs. Do you think real Japanese people talk like an anime character? No they don't, Seiyuu can sound just as cheesy to the Japanese as english VA can sound to us. They aren't legendary actors just because they speak Japanese, they are just speaking a language you don't know, so your mind fills in the blanks, like reading. If you just sit there saying there are no good dubs no exception then you are ridiculously close minded and need to check yourself.

Hahaha, Jevin is just fucking wrong. Most people prefer the original voice actors in anime because: A) it often strikes you as more authentic when in a Japanese setting like the one in DS. B) the Japanese VA's tend to go all fucking out for their characters whereas the english dub often (though definitely not always!) falls flat or seems disingenuous. C) Translation issues or paraphrasing often occur when english voice actors attempt to match the animation of the dialogue, which doesn't always but very often can detract from the story or the emotional beat of the scene. How any of these genuine preferences possibly equates to "leeching off of a culture" is just... fucking stupid. We don't even know, Dave could be part Japanese regardless of his profile photo, not that one even NEEDS to be Japanese to appreciate the culture, its languages, and people. Everyone should find it in themselves to appreciates facets of all different cultures. We should encourage it, not ridicule it with terms like "weeb". Jevin's comment was assumptive, dismissive, and unnecessarily aggressive. But 'MERICA, amirite? See, I can ignorantly assume someones ethnicity and nationaltiy, too! Seriously, might be the dumbest comment I've seen in a while. And before any subs vs dubs shit comes at me, I thoroughly enjoy GOOD ACTING and voice direction, regardless of language. Dubs like the majority of MHA, FMA, MOB, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Trigun are all pretty amazing. People shouldn't hide behind the argument of "Oh, they're biased," or "they're a weeb" when bad voice acting is called out.

I don't think its "Leeching their culture." Its more like you listen to the same voice actors for so many hours even if its in a different language. Your brain thinks that any other voice doesn't sound right for that character.

re watching this episode, reminds me how much I disliked a lot of the end of episode cuts. A lot of them feel so abrupt, and not in the cliffhanger kind of way, but in the, we forgot to finish animating this scene, kind of way.

He is. I won’t argue that, Deku and Tanjiro ARE both wholesome as fuck. But I think the main difference between them is, Deku’s a nerd, while Tanjiro’s a dork.

The dub seems pretty decent 👌👌 the twins don’t sound as creepy but overall seems like the acting is great. Love how hyped they are getting for this world. I love the world building of this show 🙌🙌

Here's a story: some in China belive that the jade is a stone with protective powers, so my granma has been wearing a jade bracelet for years. One day she fall down the stairs, but got up with a light scratch (and she was around 70 years old already), however the bracelet cracked. She belives that the jade took the impact instead of her... so I just want to belive that Urokodaki's mask did the same thing and Tanjiro would've hurt his head much worse if the mask didn't protect him
