I personally trust her at this episode. But Jace is a bad person in another tv show. It's like how most people expected the Skrulls to be evil in Captain Marvel. Other media influencing your views.

I'm going to kindly and strongly call into doubt the whole it was always the plan. It's not Kadur love life was never touched upon. We saw his strong attraction on s1 as the reason he couldn't focus. And yes the episode makes it clear at the end when she ask her. And it's again a thing when people keep mentioning that Aquagirl was the love of his life. You could say they planned for him to be bi but I'm going with they changed it during the long break.

It has nothing to do with the comics, though. If you looked it up, you would see that it has always been the case, Cartoon Network simply wouldn't allow them to actually show it. The voice actor knew since the beginning, and the writers when asked always stated that there were members of the team who weren't straight. They just didn't say who in case they were able to show it on screen someday. And they were finally able to.

Are you talking about Shane getting annoyed at how the girls handled the gun and assumed it was gun owners are bad? Or the way they reacted to Violet and Harpe kissing?

He hasn't "always been gay" in the comics... It was only introduced to the comics in DC Rebirth, 3 years ago... Which was already 6 years into this shows run, at that point the show had even already been cancelled. The show definitely wasn't heading in that direction in the first two seasons or even hinting at it because it hadn't even happened in the comics yet...
In the shows context it IS a retcon to realign the show with something recent the comics introduced after the show was already running.
For the record, I actually don't mind it, it was just a joke poking fun at Calvin's expectation/prediction.

That's fair. It felt more tongue-in-cheek to me, not like he was actually saying that was his motivation, and I don't think it was meant to be.

It felt highly unnatural to me. There is difference between saying a team needs more diversity and saying your reason for joining a team is so there can be a token black guy. It makes the character motivations feel very shallow and makes the whole thing feel it was written by committee. Garth's whole monologue felt stilted, heavy handed and forced. It felt like ad executives trying to explain social media marketing to someone's parents.

Not a retcon. This version of Aqualad In the comics has Always been gay.

I feel it's heavy handed. Something regular happens and it's like immediately over to the news with this hot take from Lex Luthor or Black lighting. They're defeating this giant envy monster and one of the soldiers pulls out his freaking cell phone and goes live. It's just goofy IMO.

That line felt fine to me. He said the group needed a little color, and I’ve heard similar sentiments from people in real life. Idk, none of it felt unnatural to me, but I’m white so it’s definitely not my place to say.

For me, It's less that it doesnt make sense and more that the voice acting and dialogue are hot garbage. When Static Shock said he joined the Outsiders so he could be the token black guy, I died a little inside. There is a line between representation and pandering and this episode pole vaulted that line. I'm black btw. Lol

What secret messages, though? Only one I recall is she called someone asking for help when Violet had her issue, which led to this. And yeah, did the wrong thing for the right reasons. Like I said, I have no idea what happens later, it just seems odd to me that every time she’s done something they’re immediately suspicious lol

I’ve seen a few people mention that they aren’t into the social media aspect, and I’ll admit I don’t really get it? In our own world, social media is very tied to politics and world issues. Questions from twitter are used in presidential debates. Activists - which is kinda what The Outsiders are - use it a whole lot to bring attention to what they do, to inspire hope and being people together. Protesters use it to organize. Revolutions around the world use it for he same thing. And yeah, aspects of it can be cringy as they are in the real world, but idk the use of social media here feels very realistic to me. I agree that this episode has some pacing issues and it’s not my favorite, but the problem with the social media stuff that I’ve seen expressed from a few people just doesn’t make sense to me.

She's been seen secretly messaging someone after volunteering to be the kids' guardian.. and was already previously willingly involved in the meta human experiments and trafficking in Markovia... It's not a stretch... even without the Black Lightning details.

Jace? It's probably because she's been a sorta villain in Black Lightning, so Eric and Aaron at least know something's probably up with her.

Young Justice is really hit or miss I find. Personally I enjoyed this season more than season 2, but I enjoyed most of the new characters and felt they were fleshed our way better than in season 2, which mostly focused on Blue Beetle and Impulse/Kid Flash II and Light always winning started getting old really fast for me. But if you aren’t feeling the story you just aren’t feeling the story. I feel like the show can focus too much on one aspect that can hinder enjoyment. Season 1 had romance for some and this season feels like social media aspect is it for people.

Damn, why are they SO suspicious of that woman?? Lol I feel like she’s done plenty to prove she didn’t have a choice in what she did and has been nothing but good since then. I haven’t finished the series so who knows, I’m just saying from what we know now it’s like every episode they question her lmao
