Then the arc should either be her getting a better name like the guardian or using back her name. But she sticks with it. And when watching a show in english it's pretty grating. But I look forward to next one which I think is a really solid two parter with a great ending and a more solid bs philosophic running gag.

If you’re talking about her naming herself Me, I think the shallow and vain nature of the name is the point. Notice how when the Doctor is proud or happy with her he calls her Ashilder but when he’s mad he calls her Me

I like the idea of illimited life with limited memory or having to deal with loss. The story however put those aspects way to much in the back for a lackluster story. This should have been an episode more on discussion like Van Gogh than chasing the monster. Which is a lot of the reasons I think this season is just ok. Great/good idea but execution that is lacking. Also how easily that immortality was done is weird and the name is stupid and pompous.

Yeah this episode is a really good character piece, but the lion thing isn't that good. The acting is great, some of the comedic elements let it down, but Capaldi and Maisie are both on fire in this one. And I always love anything with Rufus Hound (Sam Swift)

These next two episodes the second of which are my favourite ones of Capaldi's reign

Not a great episode, but much better than it gets credit for.

I thought Maisie's roll was really well written here, the fire breathing lion I'm not wild about but who cares? He's a mcguffin, the point of the episode is the doctor and Ashildr discussing immortality, which was great. Maybe you're right about separating the episode from the last, then again I can see how structuring it this way makes the change in Ashildr's character more jarring. Anyway, I definitely wouldn't call it a waste.

Total waste of a quality actor, this one. And the timing sucks - this would have been better separated from it's previous episode by a couple of stories.

It's a beautiful and seriously under-appreciated episode. Were it not for the stupid lion man I would put it in my top three for this season.

One of the only episodes for me that has gotten worse on the rewatch

Man, I'm both excited for 9x8, and dreading 9x9, that episode sucks. Can we skip that one and have heaven sent be reacted to twice?
