Yes! I keep a curve in my back while sitting in a chair and while I work.

The most commonly herniated discs are in the lumbar spine at L4-L5 and L5-S1. The lumbar region of the spine is a C-shape curvature that must be maintained for the health of the lumbar discs and facets. I keep seeing newer automobile vehicles increase the curvature the WRONG way each year to slouch and compress the entire spine! Slouching initially feels good because there is an immediate release of pressure off the joints and nerves of the spine. However, over time this compression deteriorates the discs and causes irreversible damage. So yes, I will continue to arch my back and save my spine.

I discovered that when I had a herniated disk in the L5 region. Conventional thought was to round out the lower back for relief . But what I discovered helped the most was arcing the back like you are here in the C pattern. Part of my PT recovery was switching to that and it worked!
