Doctor Who 8x11 Reaction Early Access!

Comments

has anyone had problems watching this episode full length, just got back home from holiday and wanted to catch up with doctor who but on the google drive this episode is not displaying a thumb nail or playing for me, any help would be great

Nick Crate

You guys ever think of scanning and uploading your notebooks at the end of each season? I think it would be interesting to see what you guys came up with in the moment....

Greg Schuster

In series 10, The Doctor points out to Bill that Time-Lords are way beyond our petty obsession with gender, or something like that.

Matthew Rodkey

I think he’s pulling off a sticker on the screen covering the episode title.

Spiderfrommars

Wow. Never really thought of that

Got a Patreon account just to watch their reaction to this episode. Not disappointed.

That explains why so many robots became obsessed with the promised land, they would have detected it since it's a Matrix Data Slice.

Dominic D

So happy they finally reached this episode. I'd forgotten how much I love Missy!

Jeanette C

I think because Time lords are such a high and mighty species they don't see Gender as a thing unless its pointed out in the plot

Bert

Is it me or did Shane seem oddly quiet and out of it through the whole reaction. Didn't even change his facial expression at any reveal or anything, just frowned the whole time.

Ryan Gordy

Eh, NewWho has always sexualised its characters. Not a big issue imo.

Nick Earl

I still prefer Smith (which puts me in a besieged minority online) but I love Capaldi too. I do think people are unfair on his run, Season 9 is excellent, and the era the Tennant people romanticise has loads of mediocre episodes that have dated very quickly. I think it's the fact the most of us here where children when they came out - so people overrate them as a consequence. S4 is terrible until the Library two parter and the much hyped S3 finale is really weak sauce imo.

Nick Earl

Wedding of River Song was great, brilliant episode and such a relief compared to the Cyber/Dalek crap that rounded off RTD seasons.

Nick Earl

Season 8 was a misfire for me, I appreciate seasons 6 and 7 had their rocky moments but thematically they were brilliant and their peaks were zeniths for the show imo. That said, Capaldi is great, no two ways about it.

Nick Earl

Always makes me smile, gloss over the fact that the Master kissed the Doctor.

Robert Trainer

A certain invasion speech perhaps? Or a realization about his look? Such amazing work.

Brandon Hughes

Capaldi has the intensity in him and that aura of always being in control. And regardless of the material he always make it work in his favor.I love how much Eric is in love with it. I'm looking forward to some of his future speeches.

Doby Greg

Man, Shane looks so pissed throughout this reaction. Cheer up Shane!

Matgo Styles

What is it Aaron keeps doing at the start of these recent reactions?

Mark McKeown

Eric is spot on at the end about Capaldi. His 3 series' had some really, truly awful episodes and are probably the worst (or "least good") of the show outside of the abhorrent series 11 BUT - Capaldi carries every single episode, even the awful ones, because he's just so fucking good. He's the best incarnation of the Doctor despite having some of the worst episodes.

Joe Entwistle

I gotta say, I really love each iteration of the Master in this series, but Missy is possibly my favorite.

Liesmith

Hate but love imo.

Nick Earl

It matters merely in how it affects characters like Clara that we do care about and how it drives the plot forward. But I agree, Danny is the weakest thing about S8.

Nick Earl

Eric is bang on the money here. The death of Danny Pink has little to no emotional value apart from shock factor. If this had been Rory or Danny had cemented his place in the life of us the audience then it would hit hard. It just doesn't hit but it could have if they played the long game.

Jason

Even though I wished we had more context to how Missy got control over the Cybermen to begin with and put this whole operation together. That reveal with the Skeltons being Cybermen is still one of the best scenes of this whole season.

John FD Lobrano

Eric is going to HATE Series 9 with all the cliffhangers!

Capaldi is exceptional. Never less than exceptional. I personally love Series 8, I felt it was a return to more grounded story telling. Capaldi for me is The Doctor, he speaks to my soul on levels the others just couldn't manage (For me personally) I love them all, but Capaldi will always be number 1. Also this is the first 2-parter since the Flesh duplicates episode of Series 6.

The Doctor

”Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?” The line and that delivery always gets me 😒

Jonathan Azares

I think this is the better half of the 2 parters. In many ways I think the next one struggle to be a finale. Kinda of similar to how marriage of River felt like a regular episode where stakes were inflated.

Doby Greg

I respect your view, and Capaldi is certainly my second favourite, I admire his take on the Doctor immensely. I even agree he is probably the best actor to take on the role. Personally I think Matt Smith's combination of youthful, optimistic exuberance with an aged world-weariness and sense of melancholy just beneath the surface was the perfect take.

Nick Earl

DOCTOR CHAAAAANG. I know it's kind of divisive, but I really enjoy this two-part finale, and I'm glad they've enjoyed it so far. Michelle Gomez might be my favorite iteration of The Master, funny, eccentric, manipulative, and downright cruel. On to the finale!

FaultyHammock

To me Capaldi just is "The Doctor". More than anyone else in the modern era. He just captures everything The Doctor should be, he's layered and complex and commands the screen like no one else. Easily the best actor to play the part.

Dannielle

Series 8 is rather low on my list as well, but Capaldi is always fun to watch.

CrossZ

not to mention the mid-credits scene but that's why they have Aaron there so I'm sure they will catch both of them

Damian Bentley

So in the opening credits of next weeks episode, there are elements that few if any reactors have caught. Clara claims to be the Doctor as the opening credits roll and in the credits, Jenna's name is listed first and Capaldi's second, and when the eyes appear its Jenna's eyes that are used. I've only seen two reactors catch that and Im thinking with four people how can they miss it, but I saw a whole room miss it in one vid. Hoping they catch it.

Xen Martyrzade

I love that they took to Capaldi straight away, he is the most talented actor that has played the role in my opinion. I'll admit series eight was rather low on my list, possibly bottom but watching along with the crew has made me appreciate it so much more!

"I hope we stay away from the addiction storyline we were heading towards, where she is addicted to being with the Doctor" - Eric before watching Series 9

Samara Jordan

Clara throws all the tardis keys Clara: You can't open the tardis now The Doctor clicks his fingers and tardis doors opens Clara: Damm i forgot

You mean on Youtube? Might be too early.

Kevaughn Hunter

Hmm, low quality video this time. Something go wrong with the capture or uploading?
