About the intersect upgrade, with the chip they just recovered: imo it is really Bryce looking out for Chuck, even working against the CIA if needed. Bryce knows that the CIA isn't Chuck' friend, it won't let Chuck retire. As soon as Chuck becomes obsolete, either because the CIA has a new Intersect or because the data in Chuck's brain is outdated, the CIA will put a hit on him again. So by giving Chuck the data in the chip (and depriving the CIA of it), Bryce helps keeping Chuck relevant and valuable to the CIA.

2019-06-07 17:41:52 +0000 UTCAbout Chuck saying to Srah they can't be together because he'll always want more than they can have: imo he doesn't really think that, but he saw what Bryce told him, that Sarah's feelings for him were going in the way of her doing her job and could put her (and him) in danger; he tried to "do the right thing" and push her away, with a reason he didn't really meant.

Even if she quits, she would be a trained spy that is not CIA affiliated, so she wouldn't be allowed anywhere near him. * They could hide it, but as a handler, not only she has to protect him, but she also has to manipulate him and to ask him to do things that a real gf would never ask. That would be in conflict with Chuck's stated desire for a real, honest relationship. * The alternative would be to be straight with him all the time, to hide it and be very gf like, but that would make her bad at her job and eventually put her career in danger. And the career is important to her.
