Game of Thrones 8x4 Poll!

By the end of the series, which character do you think will sit on The Iron Throne?

Comments

It might seem obvious now that Jon will be King, but when Martin/D7D were outlining the show almost a decade ago, they would've thought that was the most shocking thing ever...

Danny King

nobody will be on the throne.

chris z

ALL HAIL KING DAVOS SEAWORTH!!!

Steve

I'm so over this shows writing so it may as well be Bron lol

MrSkarred

The creators are making it a point to subvert our expectations so neither of the 3 main contenders (Jon, Dany, and Cersei) will “win” the throne. Maybe Dany will pull a scheme which will win her the war but Jon dies because of it. Heartbroken for realizing she turned out just like her father, she will give up the throne so Westeros will be ruled by a republican type council composed of Varys, Tyrion, Sansa.

rayza31

I don't think the Iron Throne will survive.

I think it would be amazing if they decide to dissolve the iron throne at the end and then form the council of the seven kingdoms with a representative from each with each having their own king/leader, would be a more free seven kingdoms, then Dawn could be happy, the Iron islands, Sansa would be happy as then the North would be it’s own kingdom but then again Daenary’s probably wouldn’t like that idea.

there wont be one

IDK if the Iron Throne itself will still exist in its current form but it's gonna be Sansa sitting on whatever it ends up being. I can feel it.

Doubting anyone will be on that throne. If anything I beleive Jon the most due to where the show is going but I feel it will be dismantled for all the trouble it has caused throughout the realms, Jon out of everyone will see it and think of those who died because of those who wanted it i.e. What the Lannisters done with Ned

I vote Jon. GRRM said it was a bittersweet ending, I think Jon will reluctantly be king and hate every second of it. Totally side note: I want to defend Sansa breaking her promise. I think she's genuinely afraid of Dany, even Tyrion admitted to her he was afraid of Dany. So she chose what she saw as the greater good, even at the cost of her honor, and broke her promise. For me it's kinda the same as Jaime killing Aerys (granted the threat Aerys posed was far more imminent and obvious, but Jaime's transgression was far worse than telling a secret too)

pas douée pour les pseudos

I think it will be both Jon and dani both on the throne as king 👑 and Queen 👑 like varys says targaryens marry each other and we all know how dani feels for Jon and Jon for dani, and In one of bran visions we did see a ONE dragon only it's shadow in Kings landing so i think them both will be.

Stephanie Reacts

I think it would be far too cliche to have Jon on the throne, no matter how much he looks the part. I have a feeling both Cersei & Daenarys will be dead by the end of the series as well. That being said, I've got no clue who will be there by the end. Initially I thought Gendry would be a solid choice, with Arya potentially, but Now I'm wondering if it could possibly be Bran if he makes it through until the end.

Jack's World

I don't see it ending with a person sitting on the throne. I see it changing it's governing system. We've heard plenty of times about certain characters changing the system and I see it happening. Daenarys has been provoked by Cersei and I feel she'll die next episode as Jon isn't there to restrain her "mad" tendencies. Jon doesn't want the throne, but I can see him being the caveat to this new system in some way or another. But if I had to choose one, I feel like it would be too simple to have one of these characters on it.

SirMonkeySuit

Danny is too overconfident, that will lead to her fall as did the Night King's lead to his. Jon is to honest to play the game well. Of course the Iron Throne will be melted by wildfire when Cersi see she's losing.

I'm guessing nobody. I don't think the throne will stand, I think it will be like a council of seven, maybe the top houses. I also think Jon will end up going back to live out the rest of his days up north of the wall or on the wall or something like that, and that Daenery is going to die possibly with Jon having to kill her similar to the whole azor ahi thing even if the Night King is dead.

William Russell

I want Jon there most! He is the rightful king and the best leader this world has to offer!

Ziegenbagel

someone else, someone unexpected

Angry bob ross

Jon is a Targaryen and also could go mad? How Sansa has been I can see it happening as a twist.

Edwin B

I'd predict that most things will come full circle: - Dany will either go mad and get killed or will leave back for Essos where she can rule by heart not by right, and bring the dothraki and unsullied home. (I want the mad queen, but I think the latter is more likely :( ) - Tyrion will take the throne because he likes the game, is good at it, and brings positive results. - He will probably take Sansa as his queen because of the recent rekindling of their connection and because her dream at the very beginning was to eventually marry the prince/king and she learned all the Kings Landing's intricacies through Cercei's "hospitality" and interacting with all variety of players through the seasons and Peter's training of how to handle them. - Jon will go back to rule the North in her stead because he's way more familiar with the northern rulings, like Sansa is with the south.

Dasher

My vote's for Sansa if Jon doesn't make it out alive. Everyone in the North wants their King in the North but he doesn't want to lead, Cersei doesn't care about the people and is only concerned with keeping the throne, and Daenerys cares more about finally getting the throne than she does about the people. Sansa seems to be the only one that would be suited to actually manage these kingdoms. Every time we see her not in the hall, she's on the ground, managing her subjects. In the great hall and council meetings, she thinks about logistics and "real world things" where Dany makes grand gestures like making Gendry a lord. When Tyrion said that Sansa would have the North when Dany had the throne, it reminded me that all of Sansa's decisions since she's been back were about the good of the North and who the North wanted to rule, not ruling herself. She would be the best one for the job of leading everything if the circumstances are right.

Michael Jefferson

Jon will Dany, then as his first order, make a council, so westeros is an oligarchy. Jon will go back up north with Tormund and Ghost.

Berserk A Lac

I don't see this show ending happily. I think Dany finally gets her wish and takes the Iron Throne, going full tyrant in the process. Most if not all of our other favorites die, and Dany gets to "rule over the ashes" like Tyrion once warned her.

Jacob Trost

I also think that's possible. but I wouldn't like it though because I think it would just cause a massive power vacuum which would guarantee that warlords would rise up trying to take the throne. You cant just erase the whole institution or the idea of it overnight. It doesn't make sense. If our heroes really care about changing stuff, then someone needs to take the throne and change it from within.

Nico

No one. I actually think the Iron Throne is going to be destroyed. Ki Ng's Landing takes a beating and we get the whole 'Lets not repeat the mistakes of the past' 'forge our new path forwards' kinda thing

Axis 77

I think Cercei dies next episode. Danny takes the throne. She keeps going crazy. She thinks everyone is out to get her and almost kills Jon in the process. Danny gets killed for going full Mad Queen. Jon is on the throne now, but doesn't want it. So he leaves to go chill with Tormund or something like that. Gendry now having the best claim to the throne is name king.

i think its going to be sansa but i dont know how they would do it without it feeling rushed

Skyro

I have a theory about this. I belive Dany will die in the battle against Cercei or possibly in some way related to Varys. Cersei will either be killed by Arya or Jaime to fulfil the prophecy that she will be killed by her brother. Why else would they bring it up in the show? Jon would be the most likely candidate for the throne after Dany and Cersei are dead, but I belive Jon will not sit on the throne, first of all since I belive it would be to obvious a choice for D&D to make, instead I think Jon will give the role of queen to Sansa, since she has been the one throughout this last season to care most about her people. She's the one who made sure they had enough food to last through the winter, she's the one the people of the north turned to when Jon was not there, she has the knights of the Vale on her side and she is also the one who was most concerned about the wellbeing of their troops after the battle against the white walkers. I get that a lot of people are upset about the way she is acting agaisnt Dany, but I belive that is a way to show how much Sansa actually cares for the wellbeing and opinions of the people. Yes, she's a northener and she says she wants the north to rule itself. But I belive she is the one who is most fit to sit on the Iron Throne and I belive she would be up to the job. She cares for the North but she also understands the game of the noble houses and what is important or not. I also think she might be willing to marry for political reasons and not for love which is something the king or queen will have to do to get the nobles on their side. So yeah, I think it ill be Sansa. I also just want to see Sansa on the Iron Throne so I can see Arya and her together in Kings Landing and Arya as a queensguard to her sister! Imagine what a badass duo! Tyrion as hand of the queen ofc.

Sofie Lingsell

It could be John could sit the throne or Danny dies in child birth, John dies in battle and the child will sit the throne and have everyone raise it.

Timmytoby

Plot twist: NOBODY WILL SIT ON THE THRONE

Deadpool

I’ll bet on Sansa coming out on top. Just gonna bide her time and let everyone else take each other out.

Andrew Courtney

TBH I just want to read Winds Of Winter already. Other than Arya and Cersei none of the other characters or storylines have me on the edge of my seat like they used to. But for the poll I pick someone who is still alive against all odds. All hail King Greyworm first of his name.

Anonamai

Euron Greyjoy pulls off his face at the last minute, revealing himself to be Jaqen H'gar and/or Syrio Forel (seriously, what other reason would have been in that cart cage if not for having changed his face to follow Arya and watch over her???) and kills Cersei. Jon/Dany rule together. (Also I agree with Shane. It's a societal taboo, not a genuinely dangerous one, especially for me since I'm a girl so my aunt can't knock me up lol)

Bekah

Since Jon is the obvious awnser if it were your typical hollywood story, I think that D&D will probably subvert our expectations and do something completely different. Maybe there won't be a throne to sit on in the end and the nk wins after all because death arrived without him. Either way the one on the throne/in charge lost everything to get there intentional or uninentional.

Maik Pfennig

It will probably be Jon, even though he doesn't want to. I wish Tyrion would be sitting on the throne but he is more of a guide than a ruler.

Ethaya

Fuck all these losers. The true queen died in the battle of winterfell. RIP Queen Mormont

Christopher simeon

I want Dany to burn King’s Landing to a crisp and die in the process The Seven Kingdoms will then be ruled from the North by Queen Sansa. Arya will lead the Queen’s Guard and Tyrion will be her Hand.

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen #1

Agreed. The throne will be melted down by dragon fire. Dany will break the wheel the only way it can be permanently broken - DEMOCRACY!

Able

No one

Rah Sheen

I think Eric was being a bit too lenient towards Varys this episode. Dany literally listened to him until the very end, she even agreed to negotiating with Cersei after Rhaegal got killed and Missandei captured, she tempered herself completely, even though she was super pissed. She lost everything she's ever had in the span of a few weeks. And he conspired against her because of her reluctance? She agreed, didn't she? He committed treason before she decided to destroy the Red Keep.

As long as The Hound lives, I don't care who's on the Throne.

Billy THE KID Lawrence

My sister and I have talked about this and we believe that no one will sit on the Iron Throne in the end. If it’s melted down, destroyed or left where it’s at, it’s looking like a Democracy will be the fate of The Seven Kingdoms. Jon doesn’t want to rule, Cersei won’t live to see the end and I’m unsure of Dany’s fate at this rate. But it would be nice to see a democratic council of some sort with the leader of the houses (plus Varys) leading the country

unknownartwork

I think very probably Jon, Dany, and Cersei all die, the Iron Throne is destroyed, and the Seven Kingdoms dissolve into multiple separate realms. But what I *want* to happen is Queen Sansa with Tyrion as her Hand.

Jen A. Blue

I still think the throne will be melted down and a council of the great houses will rule together. That's literally the only way to stop all of their problems and power struggles. It just really feels like that's where we're headed.

I’m still of the belief that one way or another the iron throne won’t be around anymore by the end of the series. I’m not really sure how or why it would be destroyed anymore, but I still see it as a likely outcome.

Dylan Carpenter

I just said this exact same thing to a friend today. I've got preferences for what individual should sit on the throne if they go that way, but in the end, I think the throne will be melted and a council of 7 will be formed.

ScarlettMi

I’m thinking it’s gonna be sansa

Silvermoon

I think that the Iron Throne will be destroyed and a council of the seven kingdoms will be created with a representative or two from each of the seven Kingdoms.

Gandulf

No one....I mean literally.

Nuptup

Gendry Baratheon. Or Sansa.

Rick Hamelin

The Iron Throne will be destroyed in battle (likely by dragonfire) and a council will run the kingdom. No winners or losers, just change and a fully broken wheel as there would be no more monarchy.

John M

Tin Foil Hat: Varys says "Fuck it! I'll do it myself!"

I feel bad for Dany. She's been isolated for two seasons straight. Losing her closest friends and advisers as well as the faith of her remaining ones no wonder she is so emotional. On top of two off her children! She has sacrificed so much to save the world and get her throne can we blame her for being so insistent on it? Besides what conquest of the throne was not built on blood and bodies. Robert's conquest saw Kings Landing sacked in just the same way as Dany wants to do (and should have when she first set foot on Westeros soil). Varys supported her father then when he was obviously mad and at the slightest sign of his daughter being the same plots against her. Flipflop turncoat that one. Bronn put it best, kill hundreds you get to be a lord. Kill thousands you get to be a king. Ends certainly justify the means if it means getting Cersei off the throne. Winning at this point without bloodshed is just wishful thinking.

Teddy S

No throne left when it is all said and done so I count that as "someone else". I might include Jon and Dany's child in that category too if Dany is pregnant and the thrones survives. Yes I cheated and made two picks. : )

Dave Hampton

At this point definitely Sansa she’s currently the best at playing the game of thrones she’s learned from the best players with Cersei, tryion, and littlefinger and she actually cares about the people. Jon will kill dany and give up the throne to Sansa.

I think Tormund should be king... Sour goat's milk for all!

Harvey H

I'm 80% sure it will be Sansa.

HybridThizzle

I want Dany and Jon to sit on the throne together, but I don't think that is the way they are going to go, unfortunately. I feel like the ending of this show will be so controversial and people will hate on it because it didn't end the way they wanted it to.

Sansa should sit on the throne!!!

Kenneth McDermott

My prediction is that the Iron Throne will be destroyed in the battle so no one will end up sitting on it. I do think that it will be someone unexpected that ends up ruling Westeros at the end of the show but I can't decide who it will be yet as my original prediction was actually Missandei. Clearly I'm bad at predictions.

Sansa:"cerisei won't come and help." Others:"Nah", Sansa:"We should rest the troops", Others: "Nah". She's competent and conniving but not evil...that's like the perfect status to win the throne. Everyone else is either too far from achieving a position of power or too hyped and hot-headed to actually win.

Hao

I think Sansa takes it in the end, though let’s give it to Podrick

Ryan Witalison

I'm leaning towards a Tyrion/Sansa ruling partnership. I think they're both levelheaded rulers who understand how to play the game and care about the people. They've got good family names and I don't think they need to marry to ruler together either, it can be more like a partnership or they can divide things up.

Jeanette C

Gendry Baratheon. The founder of House Baratheon was Agon the first's bastard brother and the first ever Hand of The King. That's why Robert had a claim. If Jon, Dany and Cersei all die. Now that he is legitimised Gendry would have the best claim.

Sheriff Uchiha

I want jon to get the throne, but in the end though anything could happen. Still love this show to the bitter end.

That guy

I've never thought of this theory but holy cow, that's interesting!

Anxious Em

I think Dany's already pregnant, her and Jon will both die (maybe a time jump before the final episode because I think she could die in childbirth) and their child will inherit the throne, with Sansa/the Starks acting as Regent until they're of age.

Anxious Em

I voted Jon because that is who I want it to be. Which means it probably won’t happen.

Alexander Mullins (Valathor95)

I’ve always maintained since Tyrion made his dealwith Cersei (in Season 7 in that secret meeting) that he will end up on the Iron Throne or at the least Reagent of the Secen Kingdoms until either Cersei or Dany’s child comes of age.

GENDRY BARATHEON

Jens B

break up the kingdoms and let Sansa rule!

kay_be

My bet is that know one will sit on the worlds most uncomfortable chair as i think taking the capital will create to much bloodshed on both ends creating a double edge sword, i think nobody will win the game of thrones. But podrick would be my MVP

I believe that Bran or Arya will sit on the throne because they are not the obvious choice. Dany and John are misdirects 100 percent.

A son of ice and fire will sit on the throne!

I think Gendry is the dark horse in this race. I could see him rallying the Lords of the Stormlands and possibly the Reach (seeing as they held loyalty to Renly) to assist in taking down Cersei.

honestly im thinking of maybe dany returns to essos cuz thats where majority of her worshippers are and she lived there all her life. and i rly do feel like dario might return to the show at some point. maybe jon or even tyerion might take the throne lol

Danny

Gendry, I believe he's Robert and Cersei's only true born son. The one that "died" shortly after birth. Cersei couldn't stand the fact the he had black hair and wasn't Jaimie's so she had someone get rid of him.

CaseOPictures

I'm honestly not sure who's sitting on that throne, but I want Sansa to finish what Robb started and make the north independent.

ElBilbo

I think Dany will sit the throne. Jon will retire up north with Ghost and Tormund.

DF

Exactly

Peadar O'Ruadhán

You lot wanting everyone in the north and Dany to get along and everything be all dandy would be incredibly boring. Why is Sansa getting all the hate, she is not the only one who distrusts Dany. And why is everyone so stupid regarding Sansa and what she is doing. Have we not been watching the same show and seen all the people she has been around with and learnt from. She knows exactly what she is doing. She is playing the game and she is causing chaos in Danys camp whilst simultaneously offering a better ruler for the people, she is only ever been concerned about Daenerys because she doesn't think she would be a good ruler. She knows Jon would be, she even said it to him last season. She knew Tyrion would tell others, then it is only a matter of time that it spreads. Fuck oaths and honour and promises, the last people she knew (Robb, Ned) that stuck to that shit got themselves killed over it, Ned's honour got him killed and Robb's love made him make stupid decisions and it got him and everyone that followed him killed, she is worried Jon would make the same mistake. She isn't about to let her, her family and her people get killed or live under a possible tyrant just to keep a promise. Sansa knows Dany is Targaryen, knows what her anger has lead to in the past and knows her family's history, if she can cause Dany to lose her temper and show her true colours (obviously Cersei has helped a lot with this), maybe Jon will finally see her for what she is and start thinking logically again. Sansa trust him but she also knows he isn't thinking straight because he loves Daenerys. Arya thinks the same way and I really think Sansa and Arya have cooked something up with plans for Kings Landing, and both Cersei and Daenerys. I don't think Arya is going back to Kings Landing just to finish her list, she doesn't trust Dany like she said and she likely believes the Starks and the North will be in danger with her as Queen. I doubt Arya will want to die or leave Westeros without knowing that her family is safe, and the right ruler, aka Jon in the south and Sansa in the North are in charge. Y'all are gonna be mad as fuck when Dany goes full mad Queen and Sansa was right, yet again. And I'd love to see everyone's opinions and see when Arya inevitably tells people about Jon because she doesn't trust Dany either, it isn't just Sansa and Arya will want to spread his claim as well. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she Jon abdicates the throne and gives it to Sansa, she is being set up as a ruler and it is clear, especially in this episode that she cares more about the people than Dany does. You want the Starks to be honourable like their father, I get that but that ain't happening, you got Jon for that but not Sansa or Arya with the things they have been through. Even Arya isn't honourable, she kills from the shadows, has murdered an entire house and fed a man his sons, she didn't care about honour when she blackmailed Jaqen into helping her escape Harrenhal.

Andrew

Tyrion. End of story.

Shae (maorismurf)

If it ends like the War of the Roses did then it will have a "York" princess as Queen and a "Lancaster (Tudor)" King. Sansa and Tyrion, anyone? Dany could name Tyrion as her heir and Jon names Sansa. In the event of their deaths and Cersei is defeated there is a clear line of succession.

Tina L

I will never surrender till the show is over... Petyr Baelish. I'm holding out the tiniest shred of a hope that the writers didnt destroy my favourite character after all and it's all part of a masterplan.

Michael Harrop

That is a very good point.

Tina L

Jon. He’s the only guy who accidentally gains more power. Everyone knows him to be honorable & just. Even Cersei knows that to be true. Maybe Dany will leave to go rule over her real home, Essos?

Jordan Malloy

Sansa. The show has set up in many places Dany vs Sansa as competing queens. E.g “Depends on the queen” line she said to Tyrion in S8E1

No one.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)

Anyone but Dany. I love how smart Sansa is, masterfully playing the game of thrones, knowing exactly which pot to stir to get what she wants. Littlefinger would be proud.

Erika Kobori

Does anyone actually think Cersei would give up the throne? She would blow that shit up and destroy it before she let anyone have it.

Erich Bomke

Good ol’ democracy will be sitting in the throne.

I voted someone else, because I feel like every major contender is gonna be dead in the end. I think the show is gonna end with random people still fighting for it because there is never such a thing as "the last war". even while robert baratheon sat on the throne for all those years, people were still scheming. the last episode will be dissatisfying and won't give definitive answers.

It’s bran sadly.

Tobi-Un

I think Jon he is after all Ice and Fire

This basically where I am too. Dany and Jon have always been my favs, and they got together last season and were genuinely in love at the beginning of this season I was so happy. The showrunners just seem hell-bent on turning her mad and I just hope to R'hollor that they're just fucking with us.

Jackson

Part of me hopes its not Jon, I like him but I want a twist. Id love if Varys or Tyrion ends up on the thrones, or Sansa with the help of Tyrion

No One will

Dragon83

I don't think there will be an Iron Throne anymore. Either it's destroyed, or the 7 Kingdoms go back to being seven different kingdoms.

Anthony Wickizer

There's no Iron Throne. We already know from that one vision with everything destroyed...

Jo

Jamie/Tyrion will probably kill Cersei and I think Jon will kill Dany once she goes full Mad Queen. As for Jon himself, I can see him becoming a new Night King, with some sort of prophecy from Bran about there always needing to be one to keep balance or something. He'll most likely live his life in exile North of the Wall. I'd love Sansa to sit on the throne as she's ultimately become the best at playing the Game of Thrones, which is what the show is about after all.

James Thompson

I can oddly see Sansa on the iron throne. She seems to have a good head about her while considering the people’s needs and how to play the game. Jon and Dany are too reckless, I think some finesse is required

Gavin Hardiman

I think Jon will deny the throne and give it to sansa. Jon and dany don't know how to play the game. Sansa has been groomed to rule like Arya was groomed to kill the night King.

Josh Bornman

Kit Harrington also said that there is no way he’s coming back to the show in season six so I’ve learned that their all liars

I'm going to say Nobody. Either nobody will be left, or the Throne room will get destroyed like Dany saw in her 2.10 vision

I said Jon, but I really don’t know at this point. I still want it to be Daenerys, but they seem to want to write her into being the villain (which I hate and feels very unearned imo), with Jon opposite her as the one who doesn’t want the throne but is more *worthy* of it, but maybe they’ll surprise me. God, I hope so. I am feeling very iffy about how things are going this season and I don’t want to be disappointed by how they wrap it all up.

Carmen Young

If both of them survive I would say that Jon and Daenarys would rule together but I think that's unlikely so first choice Jon then either Tyrion, Sansa or Arya.

Supermonaman

SANSA

Renee Rials

Not voting this time. You should have added "no one" as an option.

Ekorren

I say no one king/queen. Form a council that rules in a more democratic way.

Charlotte

It's wishful thinking, but I'm hoping that Jon and Dany pull a William and Mary, ruling as equals.

Scribbles

I dont think there will be a throne to sit on...

Aðalgeir Aðalgeirsson

Sansa please! Daenarys has lost too much and she's becoming irrational as a result. Also Jon is pretty dumb lately. Go Sansa, Tyrion, and Arya! (And Jaime and Brienne live happily ever after). And no one else dies :)

Roberto Cerrillo

I don't care who it is, as long as they leave Sansa and the Starks alone

SpeedyCat19

I feel like Dany making Gendry a legitimate Baratheon kind of foreshadowed his future place. If Dany and Jon dies, he would make a great leader, because he grew up amongst the common folk, he understands the people more than any highborn would.

Keyboard Junkie

Most likely Jon

Lady Danish

I'm not trying to be spoilery but in interviews with Emilia Clarke this past month, she has said that no one she knew guessed the answer to that question. Sooo I'm thinking it's definitely not one of the obvious three. My guess which, will probably be wrong, is Sansa.

Maybe whoever wins will melt it down..?

I think Jaime will kill Cersei and something will prevent Daenerys from taking the throne. Maybe her death or something

Djibril Ramsey

I would rather the Night King be resurrected than have Cersei win the throne, Dany is unpredictable right now and I dont see John on the throne by the end of the show, I dont know?

Joel

Jon will either die too great of a way that it wont matter who is on the throne, or he will be in the throne

julio morales

Jon I'll always back jon no matter how cruel he is to that poor doggy

Dip602

The Starbucks Cup will swoop in at the last minute and take the Throne from Jon.

Erich Bomke

At this point I genuinely think it might be someone random, who doesn't actually want to rule. Bran? Gendry?

Marvelous JJ

I’ve wanted Sansa on the throne for a while now and I’m sticking to it

I chose Jon but I honestly think the answer is no one bc the throne causes more problems than it fixes
