You cannot BELIEVE just how much i've been waiting for this As far as the Time War goes, it's sort of a widely accepted fan theory (never confirmed or denied in canon, but sometimes suggested) that since the Time War used time itself as a weapon, millions of possible timelines happened concurrently, some got destroyed, some disappeared, etc., so there is a version of the Time War where Eight fought all the way through, one where Nine did, one where the Doctor died early on in the fight, and endless variants, and the one presented to us on the show was only one of those supposed variants between millions.
