Let's just say that when the frog showed up everyone watching it with me had a pfft eye roll moment. Is it who absurd maybe did it take away from the moment I'd say so. The talk went from so a sentient universe that's weird to a really a stupid frog. I also quipped in the impossible planet the doctor says there was nothing before the start of the universe tells the devil it was his religion in a way. But hey who trusts the devil. Frogs are much more trustworthy. Do I think it should have been a cameo of a major character from the past? No, not really. So definitely other.

2018-12-08 03:52:05 +0000 UTCI thought it would have something to do with what the mummy wraps said to her in episode 2 something to do with her lonely childhood. Her granddaughter Susan would have been amazing as well since that actress is still alive and wants to come back.

2018-12-07 18:56:34 +0000 UTCI was somewhat fine with the frog, but choosing someone I’d definitely would love to have seen a River.

2018-12-07 09:39:55 +0000 UTCIt's an Alien Universe. Before it wanted to appeal to the others. Once it was free to choose a form it likes, it should have been something weird, we would not choose or imagine it taken. So the frog was a solid choice.

2018-12-07 07:17:47 +0000 UTCI know it would have been difficult if not impossible but I would have liked to see it become Susan Foreman

2018-12-07 04:36:58 +0000 UTCI have no problem with the frog, but it should have been wearing a fez, scarf, or sonic sunglasses. Or maybe even converse. Mimicry is the greatest form of flattery, and it definitely would have delighted the doctor!

2018-12-07 02:49:30 +0000 UTCI think it would've been nice to have the Doctor's grandaughter. The same way the Doctor heard the story of the Solitract from her grandma, she will tell the story of the universe to the Solitract as a grandmother herself. Of course that would be difficult as they can't bring back the same actress and a recast wouldnt be recognizable enough, but a girl can dream. :)
2018-12-07 00:10:29 +0000 UTCAnything, anything, anything but that dumb ass frog.

2018-12-06 23:25:25 +0000 UTCHow about talking to the Doctor as what you are and being honest.

2018-12-06 23:01:50 +0000 UTCI think having it be the return of someone from the show's past would distract from the Solitract being an awesome original concept. If you can't look past a talking frog to see the beauty of the Doctor befriending a conscious, lonely universe, you might be watching the wrong show.

2018-12-06 22:37:24 +0000 UTCShould have been river song, a loved one that died, would have fit perfectly. This season feels way too disconnected from the previous ones for me.
2018-12-06 21:37:28 +0000 UTCI wish that the Solitract had taken the form of a previous companion, just to see how this Doctor would react to the situation. But i didn't have a problem with the frog.

2018-12-06 21:28:50 +0000 UTCI think it's important it takes a form The Doctor is not already familiar with because he is not trying to trick The Doctor but being himself.

2018-12-06 20:56:51 +0000 UTCI’m okay with the frog choice, but it would’ve been better a lot larger and less robotic in its movement. The mouth didn’t even have to move. This entity doesn’t follow our logic and it didn’t have to pretend anymore, why not just make it as weird as possible the frog could’ve been a tropical one.

2018-12-06 19:52:34 +0000 UTCRiver Song. No question about it, it would have been great!

2018-12-06 19:25:57 +0000 UTCThe Frog, definitly !
2018-12-06 19:16:52 +0000 UTCJust anything other than a frog, honestly...

2018-12-06 19:14:01 +0000 UTCI think the frog worked best because 1) the Solitract was trying to be more honest with the Doctor and 2) any companion or enemy or previous Doctor would have inevitably put forth one part of the show as more important. It also felt very Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which is fitting since Douglas Adams who wrote that used to work for Doctor Who.

2018-12-06 18:21:02 +0000 UTCI think it was fine as it was, but since it was presenting as loved ones that died, it would have been a GREAT opportunity to bring in Alex Kingston for a brief River Song cameo.

2018-12-06 18:03:29 +0000 UTCHaving it be a previous Doctor/companion/enemy would've been a distraction more than anything, I wouldn't have liked it, especially for such a short scene. I wouldn't have minded the frog if it were animated/puppeteered better. What I think would've been best is having it mirror The Doctor herself. It'd fit the mirror universe theme, it would be the least distracting option and would've given Whittaker the chance to show off some range, playing a different role opposite herself.

2018-12-06 16:33:53 +0000 UTCSomething Else - A Toad. I mean are we just being damn racist about Toads now?? #RightsForToads

2018-12-06 16:16:29 +0000 UTCI thought the Master would make the most sense for the Doctor, but would I want such a cameo? It would work great if he/she is going back soon.
2018-12-06 16:13:04 +0000 UTCA frog of course. :D

2018-12-06 16:12:34 +0000 UTCI genuinely liked the frog.

2018-12-06 16:00:12 +0000 UTCThe frog was perfect for me. But if it had to be someone from the Doctor’s past, then River would be amazing
Bejo
2018-12-06 15:58:07 +0000 UTCThe God-Frog felt very Douglas Adams-y, which is fitting for Who. Ultimately, the Solitract only appeared as people’s loved ones to persuade them to stay. The Doctor had already agreed, and so didn’t need to be convinced with a fake face. The Doctor also wouldn’t have fallen for it, she’s too clever for that.

2018-12-06 15:50:39 +0000 UTCI thought the epidode was pretty terrible, but i really didn't mind the frog.

2018-12-06 15:49:23 +0000 UTCI think Ryan's dyspraxia is there as a part of his character rather than something to be overcome. It's a part of him and having him 'overcome' it wouldn't be true to reality. About 10% of people have it to some degree and 2% severely like Ryan.
Hugh Burke
2018-12-06 15:48:59 +0000 UTCI would have liked it to take her form. It wanted a universe and the point was that she embodied that. Soo, why not take that form?
Hugh Burke
2018-12-06 15:38:53 +0000 UTCThe frog was absolutely the best option (anything else would have been decried as fan service and/or alienated casual viewers). It's almost a perfect representation of Doctor Who. It's completely mad and nonsensical yet somehow beautiful and infinitely endearing. It tells us that the universe is a bizarre and unfathomable place, but that doesn't mean it has to be scary or intimidating. It also gives us a real insight into Thirteen, because it's a form that both her and the Solitract find pleasurable... and it's a completely silly, childish and utterly ridiculous one. But that's the point. Even after all the death and doom, war and loss the Doctor has faced in their lifetime, it's the silly little daft things that gives her the most pleasure.
Jennifer Diaz
2018-12-06 15:36:26 +0000 UTCI don't think bringing someone back just for a brief fan service would be great. However, even though I liked the frog (except it could've looked a bit better - or maybe not moved its mouth at least), it might've been better if the "frog" changed its form to someone the Doctor has lost, in the middle of their conversation, but we never saw or heard who it was. The Doctor, after looking distraught for a bit, would then say something about loss and grief and how this won't make her stay, and the Solitract would change back to the frog, and so on. Idk, just some ideas I came up with in the shower :P
2018-12-06 15:25:21 +0000 UTCThe talking frog was Who silliness at its best. The manifestation of an old companion would have been too major a distraction. I want the 13th Doctor to establish her own identity before revisiting the sprawling mythos of past regenerations. The belated delivery of a fez was a sufficient call-back for me.
Tumbili
2018-12-06 15:24:36 +0000 UTCFrog because the solitract was trying to make a new friend and showing a face of someone the Doctor loves would be a form of manipulation, which is not a good strategy for friendship.
Harry Utton
2018-12-06 15:22:03 +0000 UTCAre they even trying with this doctor anymore, any attempt to have a good emotional challenging moment with her is thrown out the window with moments that don’t mean anything. You could have Clara, Bill, River, Nardole( If you were going for comedy) hell even that one woman from the episode A Good Man goes to War to symbolizes all the companions he forgets and leaves behind with would also help you sympathize with the father but Noooo! We get a frog. Good job Chibnall

2018-12-06 15:21:29 +0000 UTCFrog, because, in theory, seeing an old familiar face would be great But realistically, I wouldn't want a cameo as great as an old Doctor or old Companion to be used for only a 3 minute scene I feel the frog was a good way of showing that little silliness of Doctor Who, while also leaving it a little jarring and interesting
Rantingisalwaysfun
2018-12-06 15:15:29 +0000 UTCThe Solitract was coming across sincere, honest, and open to the Doctor, so chose a form it personally liked. Having something relating to the Doctor wouldn't have made sense and would have just been fan service.
