Yeah, the main reason for the average life expectancy being as low as 30 in the past was the high infant and child death rate skewing it down. Which in turn was the reason for having as many children as possible.

2018-09-24 10:40:34 +0000 UTCJohn did go off to war with Arthur and Tommy. He's younger than the others, but he would've been of age. And Finn is their little brother by the same parents. He's about 10 or 11 in this first season and there is a bit of an age gap between him and the next youngest, Ada who is a young adult. It's not terribly unusual though for families to have that sort of gap - especially in this time period

2018-09-24 00:22:34 +0000 UTCShane says they didnt live that long back then lol. Socrates, Plato, and many other Greeks lived into their 70s and that was awhile before this time period. I suppose you could claim that the pollution made people of this time specifically live shorter, but that still doesnt root out the option of his parents having had kids in their early teens
