He was complex yes in the latter part of season 4 (spoilers), until he took a nose dive and became an irredeemable dick bag in season 5. He loses all complexity and becomes nothing more than a arsehole or arseholes sake.

Some rich men managed to get annulments even though they had kids with their wives..lol it was still rare. But royalty it would have been difficult..The wife would probably be sent away somewhere to live out her life and the husband would take mistresses.
