Doctor Who 4x7 Reaction Early Access

"The Unicorn and the Wasp"

Doctor Who 4x7 Reaction Early Access

Comments

This episode is silly but I've found myself enjoying it more every time I watch it. Highlights for me are definitely all the Agatha Christie references (I do love her books) and the interactions between the Doctor and Donna. They're at their very best here. Kinda surprised Eric didn't know Agatha Christie at all. 😆 but that's probably just because it's a bit of a constant in my family (my mom is a big fan, as a kid it felt like half our bookshelf was Agatha Christie books, and I grew up watching Poirot and Miss Marple). And Doctor Who isn't pulling its praise from nowhere - she IS the best selling author of all time (behind the Bible and the Bard). And she wrote /a lot/. Clue/Cluedo is definitely inspired by the type of literature she wrote. I'd definitely recommend the 2015 version of And Then There Were None, if people want to check out a great tv adaptation of one of her most famous works. Some absolutely amazing actors! (It's also the first British on-screen production to use the books original ending.) I say this a lot, but I'm really looking forward to next week. (Which is in two days! Yay late commenting.)

The most "flack" i've seen him get given are from one guy who hates anything Moffat related, even his good stuff , and tbh with the way he's going about it is probably just doing it for attention

A story with an appearance from Christopher Benjamin aka Mr Henry Gordon Jago, Master of Ceremonies of the New Regency Theatre. No sign of Professor George Litefoot though :(

Maybe we're looking at different comment threads, but on the YT channel a lot Blind Wave fans have given Moffat plenty of grief over his various 'failings'. It's all a matter of opinion but I certainly found more to enjoy in the Moffat era than the RTD era (whose best work was Children of Earth rather than DW). Silence in the Library, meanwhile, deserves the high praise because it has a brilliant original concept monster (that only appears in this double bill), a really well written story, and introduces us to River Song - a significant character in DW history. Thus it gets a lot of hype!

Favorite moment of the episode is definitely giant wast with a pipe.

I need to borrow the Tardis to jump ahead a few weeks so I can binge watch the next few reactions without any delays.

it seems, here he doesn't get any flack at all. Some people are counting down to the library from episode one, and half of the comments are about the next episode. I get the hype about Blink or The Empty Child, but these ones? (don't want to start any arguments, just, as Anthony here, confused where's this obsession coming from)

It's official: the rest of the episodes of this season are ALL INCREDIBLE and I need full reactions from now on <3

The next episode is AWESOME

I love the channel but I get a bit annoyed when they describe the show as goofy and light. It is true there are frivolous episodes such as this one, but there is also significant emotional depth. And quite often they start dicking about or laughing in the more serious episodes and miss out on the drama.

every episode now is amazing !!!! this season - not that previous episodes are bad, it the next episodes are FANTASTIC !

to each their own, but i think moffat gets a lot of unfair flack, and i much prefer his reverberation of themes to the cheesy finales that plagued the RTD era.

I think, if you read at all, Agatha Christie has probably written something you’d like. She’s definitely all about mystery and usually murder, but she wrote multiple books a year for more than half a century, so she more or less invented half of the tropes and ways to subvert them.

Interesting to see how many people are going crazy over the next couple episodes. I enjoy them, in a vacuum, but they are kind of tainted for me because of Moffat's reused themes and future plot lines that don't pay off. :/ But still, at the end of the day it's Donna, so they are still top of the pack for me! Hahahaha

You darn kids with your not knowing who Agatha Christie was and your rock and roll and your 8-Track tapes...

You can smell cyanide it smells like bitter almond though only about 50% of the population can.

I’m actually in shock. They’ve never heard of Agatha Christie? Miss Marple, Poirot?

Clue, or Cluedo as it is outside North America was created in the forties when murder mysteries like those written by Agatha Christie were super popular. Her works are the third best selling of all time after the Bible and Shakespeare, around 2 Billion copies of 66 novels and 14 short story collections in 103 languages currently. Oh and her play the mousetrap has been running in the London west end since 1952, 27000 performances so far.

"And Then There Were One" is one of the best books of her, in my opinion. There's a minisseries of it if you guys want to check it out, it has 3 episodes

Juliane Ivanow

I loooove this episode!

Random thought: Rivers😊 are the best
