I don't know about all that, I mean; it sounds like you're saying colonization would happen regardless so there's no point in being upset about the way it happened.

Brandon

I’m worried a little about the remark that the world would have been better off if the tribes weren’t mixing as much as they are and everyone just stuck to their own nations. Doesn’t that imply segregation is preferable to the issues that arise when you mix people from different cultures? I kind of like to point out also that I think this would have happened eventually anyway. The fire nation defiantly jump-started the situation by invading and establishing colonies during the hundred year war. That’s something like three or four generations of people living in the same area certainly there must have been at least some interbreeding as well as some cultural osmosis between the fire and earth nations. Then when the war ends what do you do with those people who were born and raised there, ship them all back to the fire nation? What do you do with mixed families, make them chose to stay or go? Depending on the number of people we’re talking about that would be a logistical nightmare. Not to mention you’d be pulling people out of the only homes they’ve ever known to ship them to a place they’ve only ever heard about in the name of national and racial purity. Before the war the nations must have already been in contact with one another. Probably trading between each other, if the Air nation were nomads they probably had to trade for food at some point. So something like republic city, a place where there was a blending of the nations, would most likely come about in the long run even if there was never a war.

Wow. Now a need a high quality fanfic with this storyline ASAP! You have a very creative mind

@Eric: haha Kuvira is like Palatine and both more like Hitler!! Destroyed Germany, and making it great again with superweapons (v1,v2??!) UNLIMITED POWER!!! also the alternative timeline adds up. Korea season 1 began in the roaring 20, now we live in the late 30s, pre-Second World War style!! Nice!

I always thought it would have been pretty cool if, instead of Aang dying of natural causes, he was mysteriously killed. Aang would only admit this to her at the beginning of season 2 when he believes her to be powerful and mature enough of an avatar to be able to help him solve the mystery of his own death. Throughout the season, Aang would function as a Uncle Iroh type character, and would have a lot of screentime devoted to him and the metal clan characters. Then in the season finale, they discover that a man named Zaheer had murdered Aang. Team Avatar as well as Suyin go to confront Zaheer in prison, but Suyin, having secretly been a member of the red lotus the entire time, betrays Korra and releases Zaheer, who does some spirity mumbo jumbo and severs Korra from her past lives, effectively killing Aang again. Season 3 would be the war against the red lotus, and would be a lot darker. It would start with the red lotus murdering Katarra, and Korra would become obsessed with revenge. It would end with Lin being forced to kill her sister, Zaheer surrendering to Korra but her murdering him regardless and then immediately regretting it, most of the world leaders being dead, and pretty much the entire world in chaos. Season 4 then would mostly deal with aftermath, PTSD, self discovery, and a more morally grey Kuvira.

Matthew: As far as I remember, it was just "old age." He was only 66 or so in non-iceberg years, but those 100 years in the iceberg in the avatar state probably put a strain on his body, even in that state of hybernation. So, it was just Aang's time to go, naturally, at age 66.

Old age, I believe.

Does anybody know how Aang died? Like was it ever put out or anything, or just ignored?

Matthew

There is a lot of factors going into why Earth Kingdom citizen support Kuvira over Wu. Like Eric said Zaheer’s actions created so much chaos that most of the population suffered for 3 years. Kuvira restoring order makes her a godsend. Just like in real life if things get bad enough people are willing to sacrifice freedoms for security. There is also the fact that Wu is related to the last Earth Queen who was a terrible ruler and that he was found and selected by the United Republic, who were then going to give him hand picked advisors to help him. That looks really bad to people. Cynical people are likely to look at it as if the United Republic is trying to use Wu to gain control of the Earth Kingdom. There are still people who see the Untied Republic as stolen Earth Kingdom territory that Avatar Aang never got back. Right there Earth Kingdom less trustful of outsiders solving their problems for them. Kuvira is a Earth Kingdom citizen who mostly used Earth Kingdom people to restore order and help them. She is a dictator in the making and some people see that, but to others she is seen as hero who saved their nation and is opposing the other world leaders for forcing another bad leader on them. I’m willing wager the majority of people don’t even know about prison camps or they spin it as something positive. Even Bolin who works for her and has seen some of the shadier aspects likely justifies it since Kuvira has done a lot of good. This is how some real life dictators have come power. I think this season does a decent job at showing the rise of a dictator.

Toph was 12, same age as Aang. Katara, Ty Lee, and Azula were 14, Sokka, Suki, and Mai were 15, and Zuko was 16. Jinora, Ikki, Meelo and Rohan are Tenzin's children

Ryanne Gentry

Tenzin's other daughter is named Ikki

The woman next to Zuko is his daughter, the firelord.

The difference is that a lot of empires believe themselves to be meritocracies because their power structures aren't hereditary. I don't think you can get one that's not a democracy however. Not unless you have an incorruptible, independent AI appointing people jobs and monitoring their actions.

Herberderber

Take a look at episode 1 again, and at the bandits' faces. The bandits Kuvira fought and recruited for a "higher purpose" are the same exact ones who later attacked the Airbenders as they tried to deliver food to the town. Kuvira is NOT a good person.

Fun fact: Toph's original voice actress actually voiced young Su Yin last season.

..........spirit bombs

Swordhunter

Toph is so connected in her earth sight she can see and feel the literal decay of the bodies of everyone she has ever loved around the earth.
