Death Note #18 Reaction Early Access!

Comments

Yep!!

Anyone else waiting for the look on their faces when the intro song changes. I personally love the first intro and don’t really like the intros after.

Allison

Anyone else getting an error on their new website?

The Pebble

I also felt this episode and particular test were meant to showcase L's worst traits, so the audience is never under the impression that L is a noble, good person above it all. L is childish, hates losing, and will pursue answers to what makes people operate in the ways that they do - to the detriment of all else, including his relationship's with those people if need be. That is how L operates, he has a child's sort of like and attachment for the members of his task force - I think he genuinely does like all of them, but he doesn't think he needs people beyond Watari, and he's perfectly willing to part ways as demonstrated in this episode, if it suits him. I genuinely think L didn't care what answer the guy gave, it wasn't a matter of there being a right and wrong answer, he merely tested him out of wanting to know what he would choose, that's it. Therefore it was a dick move, and an unnecessary one, but L cannot help himself if there's an option for learning something new about a person.

There are times in this series where the author goes a bit too over the top to give us something cool, but ends up seeming excessive. I honestly never get the point in constructing a new 26 story building for the investigation other than change in scenery. I get L has vast resources on his own, but felt like a random move. Maybe the manga explains it better.

you guys can watch full length if you go to the blind wave website and scroll down to recent posts, you should see death note 18 full there!

I always interpreted this test as an asshole move by L but I thought it was supposed to come off like that. I thought the author intended it to show that L is too curious and willing to burn bridges to learn something, even if that something isn't particularly useful for him.

Cade Hartman

full length?

In regards to the money that L has, he's a consultant for police forces around the world. As he is usually called in on "major" cases the consulting fee he is paid is quite substantial. He has a mast a great fortune this way.

Personally I think L just made a mistake testing Aizawa like that. He needed to ensure that money would not compromise their mission but took it a little too far.

coffeemilk

That was what I always thought too.

Tammi M

Yeah I was like did they skip an episode? But no they just used the wrong title lol

Tammi M

This episode isn't called "Matsuda" ...

Will Knight

I can't wait to see their reactions to the next episode in the "near" future. ;)

I've been wondering that myself, and also feel like Eric might like it, And that at least Calvin will laugh at Ryuk in his intro bits. I actually lov the 2nd intro, but I can see where others could hate it. It's definitely...intense...to say the least. ;)

The way I see it, L's "test" was a push for Aizawa to leave the task force and chose his family. L probably heard of his problems and made himself look bad so that Aizawa wouldn't feel like he was betraying his duties too much.

Sintara

I wonder how they'll think of the new intro in episode 20. I assume at least Eric will love it but Shane won't. Personally I don't like shane' interpretation of the 1st intro either.
