Rick knows too much about real world history and has GM'ed too many D&D games to take anything other than the pragmatic view

Robb didn't have a choice. The Starks aren't the smartest. It's been done in history and he's a history buff.... Teacher I believe.. so I imagine he's a little used to things like that.
