I think that Fitz found the monolith after the team went through, and when Fitz went through, the monolith sent him to the same place but a few years earlier, and that he has been the one spreading the rumours of shield coming from the past to save everyone.

When Ghost Rider went through the portal at the end of season 4 it looked a lot like the destroyed earth from Season 5. Maybe Ghost Rider will be there this season?

Maybe this Fitz exist in the multiverse that they're subtlety trying to introduce; although there was still that original footage of Daisy in Deke's framework kind of confirming the same universe.

What if fitz becomes an inhuman after analysing his DNA to be sure he won’t die. Because of this, maybe he has the ability of Immortality. Now this could ruin his character because no one would be worried for his life so what they could do is make a weapon to reverse powers temporarily. This would be a good set up for future seasons.

As much as I would love to believe it was through Ghost Rider or Doctor Strange (or both) my guess is he went through the same Monolith as everyone else, but nonetheless, I’m just happy Fitz is back!

Can't be time travel, how would fitz know what point in time the team was sent to. Can't be any kind of suspended animation because how would he know when to unthaw himself. It has to be an LMD

Although it is completely plausible that Fitz got there through time travel, I think that he made an LMD of himself just in case. Even though he HATES LMDs he may use this one for good
