If the French were watching he had to make it 100% believable. Having those closest show real grief made it so. I think Baptism was all part of plan with a hope that maybe God might let him visit Athelstan in afterlife - cover your bets lol. He had to keep it absolute secret until he had the princess in the bridge to make sure they could open gate & stop any resistance to getting in. Getting some truthful confessions from family was just a bonus Ragnar would value lol.

I really want to see them freak out when they see Clive Stranden (Rollo) in the Doctor Who Season 4 Episodes Sontaren Strategem & The Poison Sky as Private Harris or if they would even recognise him without a beard. :)

England had already been united for 150 years when William invaded. And William was Rollos great, great, great Grandson.

Yeah. They base it on history then write a story around it. E.g. Rollo and Ragnar lived hundreds of years apart.

Nah, Aaron, Rollo will be the first Duke of Normandy and his great-grandson will invade England and unite it under the rule of one monarch.

The whole pretending to die and being buried in Pars, was a real historical/legendary event carried out by Bjorn Ironside. Also a lot of this show is not just "stories" they are real historical events.

I think Ragnar is more aware of his own legend than the show ever implies. I think he wanted to show that even frail and at deaths door he still has a trick up his sleeve. Shock everyone back into that state of awe of "the legend of Ragnar". I also wouldn't discount that Ragnar may have wanted to hear what people would say at the side of his coffin. There's no motivation to lie to a corpse.

I see it the way that Ragnar wanted to pick a single person to coordinate the attack and chose the person, who was the most loyal to him. Thus it's not a question of how much you trust everyone, but who would be the most trustworthy person. I think that he could have told the others without consequences to the plans, but I assume that he wanted everyone to be truthful for once (through their confessions) and maybe it was also a plan to show who is the one that makes the plans.

Hai Mark. Lol. I had a 3 second delay with that one. I love the introduction of the Franks. They’re all intriguing.
