Its a shame Viking legend doesn't live up to the reality.....i might have more respect for them...5ft 7inch ,poor Armour, bad literacy rates, poor defense...hmmm funny what abit of research uncovers.

Good and bad are subjective; just because the vocal majority dislikes something doesn't mean that nobody has the right to enjoy at least some part of it. Likewise, just because something is widely popular doesn't mean that people can't critique or have issues with it. If anything, people are actually more likely to be critical of the shows they like because they have more of an investment in it.

I honestly didn't feel dissatisfied with athelstan's death

I disagree heavily about Rollo. His character development is not ignored at all, it's only explored and brought closer to the original Rollo who felt very similarly.

Yeah, but to be fair they later said they really hated that season and it was a disappointment. (Reacting to Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2) Eric: "I'm happy (Damian Darkh's Actor) is finally on a good show."

I think its weird that blind wave always discuss problems with shows that are better quality, but with shows like arrow, they act like it is good. Watch season 4 reactions, they hardly complain about it

I honestly felt Ragnar's eulogy was a proper conclusion for Aethelstan. I know it wasn't a glorious death, but Ragnar really caught the loss and pain from losing someone so important to him.

Nope, that's a rumor. The actor left because they told him he was going to die. This was all planned out, there was no rush.

I believe the Actor of Aethelstan had to leave the show prematurely. which is why this was all sudden and all.

Yeah that is proven to be false, and what Lord_EAA says is true.

If you guys want to see glasses for a one-eared person you should react to Ripper Street. Hell you should react to Ripper street anyway.

Actually that's a rumor. Athelstans actor found out he was going to get killed and THEN signed up for Versallies. The episode was not rushed, it was written this way naturally.

In regards to time jumps, gotta remember this show is covering centuries of events using a 1/2 generations of characters. If you know your history you will know where the show will end up. P.S Read some bloody history.

Ragnar must keep the secret about the English settlement if he wants to keep his plans to attack Paris going - if the people find out they would demand he deal with England first. He will deal his revenge for that in time, but for now he has a mission & does not want all his big plans to go awry from vengence. As far as Athelstan; now that he has rediscovered his christian faith, he would never be welcome by all the others and his "influence" would be constantly questioned - It was time for him to either leave and go back to his faith & church, or to die. Ragnar would mourn him in private & I am sure Athelstan has told him whatever happens is in his gods plan as well. I have watched all of the seasons and though I will miss Athelstan, I understand how he is so important for Ragnars character - his influence will remain, even if the character is not there beside him. :) Floki had to appease their Gods and waited for his sign. As far as the passage of time - everyday, mundane things of hunting, fishing, farming & living are not interesting - they easily show the passage of time and seasons with the birth of the children. I think women have an easier time with it perhaps but even you guys could see approx. how far in future they were by the birth of the child ;) That is the tool they have used from the start to show time passage - which in my opinion, is better than the "travel time" issue with GOT lol.

The actor that played Athelstan got lead in another series so they wrote/filmed that pretty quickly. It did seem rushed.

Probably my biggest criticism for the show is that characters spend seasons growing and developing, and then in a single episode it just shifts or ends on a dime. Rollo, next season especially, goes through an amazing character arc, but by season 5 they just pretend it never happens.

Ragnar doesn't want his people focused on revenge when they go to take Paris. That's the reason for killing the old man.

It been better story telling if it was unknown who killed Athelstan or everyone thinks it was Floki but he was innocent then they story angle we got here. Unfortunately Ragnar is about Ragnar and no one else.

Time passing in the show is always very clear to me, they're located in Scandinavia (A region with the four seasons) so weather is a clear tell and the clothes they wear, pregnancies, hair growth, people getting tattoo adornments, and several other things, I have never been close to having the questioning of time that you guys repeatedly have.

Everyone doesn't get a glorious death and in most cases it's sudden, and I love that this show hit you in the gut with reality in his death.
