This series really needs like a history book to go with it. Being a European a lot of this history and geography is obvious to us but they're from America so it's obviously not fair to assume they'd know this stuff. Like if I was watching a show about the American revolution I'd need some maps and background history first.

Oh and Þórunn is pronounced Thorunn. Þ is a letter in the Icelandic alphabet and the sound is "th" as in thing.

Hi! I live in Småland on the east coast of Sweden. About 40 min by boat across the water (the Baltic Sea) from me is Öland, our second biggest island here in Sweden. In 2014 a roman gold coin was found there during an excavation of Sandby fortress. About 360 similar coins have been found on Öland and they were payments to Ölänningar who was hired by the Romans as mercenaries during the 400-500's. The coins are called Solidus coins. Look up Sandby borg and roman coins 😊 my profile pic on here is of me standing next to one of Öland many runestones.

Anglo-Saxons had a varying polytheistic system they also had elves and dragons in the system, but with a lack of written texts its difficult to determine their true beliefs as a mingling with the Native tribes of Briton occurred...i assume pagan/natural in origin i.e revering trees, animals and other natural phenomenon.

And the Germanic tribes here around Germany (well not strictly the same as now) called him Wotan among other things.

"Vikings" did not exist during the roman period, there were Scandinavian tribes who would later develop the viking culture. Also Britannia was the most northerly region of the Roman Empire, along with the River Rhine in mainland Europe. This series is set around 500-600 years after the Romans left Britain in the 5th century AD. The Anglo-Saxons originally worshiped the same/similar gods as the vikings, Odin was called Wodan/Woden for instance.
