That's why i love so much this anime, it's like eric says affter you finished it, you can go back and watch it again and you will notices so much little details that are there for a reason.

in this episode they discussed how the humunculies find out that Huges discovered something, if you go back to episode 16 or 17 i guess, when Shescka (the girl with idetical memory from the library) was letting Mustang sleep in the room next to her office, you see that a black officer arrives and says hi to her, and then we see that's Envy because the real officer appears and Envy has to took another form, well that black officer was with Huges when he found out, and Huges told him i'm going to investigate more in the martial cort office, so Huges told Envy where he was going to be, that how Lust found him.

Don't worry about not remembering everything. This show is like Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire in terms of introducing characters, places, and plot elements that seem minor or unimportant that come back later, get expanded on, and become important to the plot. On your first time viewing some of this stuff is going to go through the cracks or you'll forget because it might not be revisited for a while. If you want you might want to try to rewatch some these episodes on your free time to refresh yourself or see if there is anything you didn't catch the first time that turned into a bigger plot point.

I can understand If you don't like it, but the whole crying thing and silly animation are visual gags. They're popular in lots of anime, but there are for sure good and bad times to use it. I don't mind the gag affecting the real world though lol

so basically may and ling came looking for the secret to immortality in hopes the dying king would name them the next successor to the throne. also he could use it to survive as there are 43 heirs competing to be the next ruler. thats why ling said he has had to deal with assassins. the clans keep trying to kill the other clans heirs in hopes their heir is the next successor, ensuring their clan is saved

May and Ling are half-siblings, both have the same father. May is a Princess of Xing (Princess Chang) while Ling is a Prince of Xing (Prince Yao).

I would highly recommend you guys go back to watch Ling's intro to the series. That would help clear up the Xing's people motivation
