I know earl is the anglicised version for yarl, not sure why they skip between the two.

2017-07-20 20:20:06 +0000 UTCBah both the previous guys said what I was going to say. Jarl and Earl are the same except Jarl is the Swedish pronounciation and Earl is the Norwegian pronounciation. And Earl Haraldsson's widow is called Siggy. She was Will Schuster's first wife in Glee :)

2017-07-20 17:31:27 +0000 UTCEarl and Jarl are the same thing, a "chieftan" of an area, usually a village and it's surrounding area... It's been suggested that the show uses Jarl for Jarl Borg to distinguish that he is from Gotaland (sweden) while Ragnar is from Norway...
