I think another problem is many viewers find Danny to be inconsiderate and flaky. Returning home and trying to get his old life should have won our sympathy, but then we learn he abandoned his responsibilities at Kun Lun even though his job is kind of important. Davos should come across as the jealous douche friend, but more viewers agreed with him than Danny. The finale showed Kun Lun gone, which puts Danny in a bad light.

He's this extremely naive kid who didn't grow up in a technological world the viewers have. Which makes his perspective difficult to relate to. Many of his choices come off as stupid and it's frustrating to us watching.

I thought he was just going to be a one note, mustache twirling, "I'm an asshole just because" kind of character. But he actually had a really great arc. And Tom Pelphrey was hands down the best actor on the show.
