Is a pain to sleep, is a pain to die is a pain. to think about it ...

Vasiliu Vlad

You're forgetting two very important things. One, what about all the elements they provided to create the body with? They already had all the cost of the physical body, their own bodies were not used to make that body at all (also we saw that it did not have three legs in this episode). Two, what about the information they gained from The Truth? That information didnt come free, you know. THAT is what they gave up their bodies for. Information. The honor of seeing The Truth. Problem is, once you have information, it's pretty hard to give it back.

The photo was even labelled Sept '66, and we know that the day they burned down their home was Oct 4, 1911, and that was several years ago... So yeah, about 45-50 years.

I took that they are happier she didn't suffer, they care more for not hurting others than about how they were hurt. It's proved how in-selfish they are.

Though truth "guy" also has a very mocking tone to him

TheAmberPrince

I would think of the truth "guy" is more a reflection of ones true self, like when it said something like I am god, I am truth, I am all, I am you

I actually think the fact they didn't bring their mom back makes it more tragic. If it was impossible from the start that means Ed and Al sacrifice was entirely pointless from the start. They lost their bodies in a meaningless attempt to bring their mom back. There was no perfect formula or some small mistake they made where they could have gotten the mom back. It was impossible to get right from the start and Al lost his whole body for nothing. They made a misshapen and mismatched human body that didn't even have their mom's soul. That is just so tragic because of how pointless everything they did was.

He didn't make a bad he changed the meat in the shape of a body

guys remembber equivalent exchange (the whole series is based in this concept) what happend on that transmutation was: 1.- They creaed a new male body with all those chemical elements 2.- Whit equivalent exchane they had to pay the same price, so to create an entire body they had to give an entire body (Al's body) 3.- The give their blood as "soul data" so i think having the blood of both of them the truth also took something of Ed (his leg) so the new body they creted was a deformed body (probably with 3 legs) 4.- And some how Al soul ended up in that new body, being rejected and going back to the portal, so letter Ed could take it out and bondded to the armor. So in resume, basically what they did was created a new body and swap Al souls to that new body, but was rejected. As they said they never hurt anyone else, they didn't bring anyone body or soul back

The show really pushes the statement through human transmutation, that to think you can pull a soul that has expired from beyond human reaches is just pure arrogance.

Calvin say he looks the same from 10 years ago but it is is more like 50 years. Pinako is looking at a black and white picture of both of them and she is young there.

Interesting theories! The human transmutation that is forbidden always involves attaching some sort of soul, which is why Mustang had no problems with creating an empty corpse to stage 2nd Lieutenant Ross's death. As for creating a body with a soul, we don't yet know if it's possible at this point. Remember that in episode 2, Ed and Al tried to recreate their mother's soul by adding some of their blood (which they called "soul data") to the mixture before transmuting.

To be fair, the part about... ... Ed eating and sleeping for both their bodies doesn't happen until the next episode so, yeah it's okay for them to theorize about it because it hasn't been brought up by the show yet. You might wanna delete or edit your comment just in case they see it before reacting to the next episode.

It was a little weird for me that you kept asking questions and theorizing about stuff they just explained in this episode. no Al's body would not be a little kids because of Ed's theory that he has been eating and sleeping enough for both their bodies so Al's body would keep growing. Also the mom's "body" was never her body. Those kids little just bought all the elements that make up a human adult body and put it in a tub thinking they could create the body based on their formula (transmutation circle) and bring her soul into it because they included drops of their blood which they called "soul data". It was a little naive and arrogant of them to think it would work so they paid the price. But they just learned in this episode that it wasn't their fault. It has always been impossible and yes that gave them comfort but it doesn't make their story less tragic because they had been carrying that guilt with them for years now and just because that's gone now doesn't mean the effect it had on them.

Yeah, show still teaches rules if that makes sense and making groundwork for end game slowly, steadily.

You are not going to guess the end game of this series this early on, but you will see the clues that are here later on.
