I had a similar experience during Spider-Man 3. The scene where Sandman is running from the cops down an alley right at the camera, I thought "Wow that looks like the street my Uncle lives on in Brooklyn. In fact it looks like he's running right at my uncles front door..." then I found out Sony put the camera facing out uncles front door :P

It's funny, watching this episode the first time a few weeks ago, I got to the part with the bank(about 7 minutes in), and I'm thinking "wow, Chicago reminds me of home. That looks a bit like my street....a lot like my street...holy crap! That is my street! That's the old post office on Wyndham street!". Looked online and sure enough, they were in Guelph filming American gods last May half a block from where I live.

Interesting. I'm not straight and I'm not disgusted by any sex scenes unless I just don't like the couple for reasons. It's not a big deal, honestly. Sex is natural for many people (obviously not all) and I'd rather normalize seeing it, or at least knowing it exists, rather than the way we normalize violence in everything. That's what grosses me out. Love and lust that's consensual? Nothing wrong with that. I skip over most sex scenes anyway so eh. But this one is impactful for me because it's between two muslim men of color and as a muslim person of color, I never thought anyone would care enough to put us anywhere. Thumbs up.

He did. Bryan Fuller was the creator behind Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, and now American Gods. I love his whole aesthetic.

What about it didn't feel tasteful to you? And it was definitely not "another LGBT scene forced in for the Tumblr crowd". It was an adaptation of a scene from a book written in the 90s, and the scene was expanded upon because the man who made this show, and who also happens to be gay, wanted to make something that was a progressive step forward in how gay sex is depicted on tv. I'm not a fan of drawn out sex-scenes either, but I personally think my issues with that are less important than what this scene meant to a lot of people.
If you are questioning why that scene was there, you should check out one of the many many interviews Bryan Fuller did about that scene, and how they adapted it. They're very good and insightful.

Tha scene was way overdone, I'm not a fan of long drawn out sex scenes in general but something brief and tasteful is usually ok, this was neither brief nor tasteful and thus far has had no real impact on the story. It was just another LGBT scene forced in for the Tumblr crowd. Thank god for DVR and fast forward.

For a wish? A wish that could be ANYTHING? What doofus would say no to that?! I could fly? Become immortal? Give powers to my friends and family? Advance the human race with my almighty powers? Some gay sex for any wish is a bargain!

It was nice scene for me. Not because they was gays, but because they was caring, tender, which you dont often see from guys. (Yes gay and I was ok with Bilquis scenes. just sex scene)

It simple, the Jinn granted the man's wish for a different life. If it helps, all the little side stories are just about how the Gods got to America and how they are existing now. The Zora sisters are Slavic mythology and I think Chernobog is too.
