Avatar TLA 3x20 Finale Part 3 - Reaction Early Access!

Avatar TLA 3x20 Finale Part 3 - Reaction Early Access!

Comments

You guys should definitely keep the Avatar train rolling with Korra. Just keep it on the same schedule.

Darth Skhorrn

Can't wait til they react to the big finale and see how bad a** Aang can really be.

Zhuquide

Could you guys react to Camp Camp from Rooster Teeth? It's just 12 episodes, and they're working on season 2.

Zhuquide

are you guys gonna do korra after

I'm so looking forward to watching this, just waiting for the finale to come out on Monday so i can watch both episodes back to back.

Can't believe its almost over.

Mauricio Ramirez

Judging by normal schedule it would be, yeah

IrishNexus

When does Doctor Who start?

Gregory Jackson

Yeah like a reflection of the entire show after having finished it. Q and A would be really cool too.

007

when is next episode coming ? 20 march?

I love Calvin's "I know stuff these losers don't" face.

You forgot the White Lotus in Na Sing Se ( that means "penetrable city") ;D

Brendan Horn

if you look at azula as a character, not as a villain, there's a level of sympathy that can be felt for her (but to each his own). it doesn't mean you have to like her as a person but it's important to understand why she is the way that she is and how she got to the point of her own self-destruction.

Taylor Smithpeters

Haha. You have the entire series to enjoy. It's not going anywhere anytime soon. Be happy it exists man!

Jordan Feeg

Zuko also had his uncle to give him another aspect of the world. Azula never had any positive influence and plenty of negative.

Dale Cooper

i don't think you're supposed to feel sympathy for azula. you're supposed to understand why she is the way she is and enjoy her as a character. that's why she's so great! people love azula as a villain, not like her as a person.

fork

The end has finally come and it been great time with Blind wave. Sokka in the next episode is my fav sokka moments!

Lol yeah. I feel like if this weren't a cartoon, instead of banishing everyone she would be saying, "Burn them all!"

Calvin's look at the end! Amazing. This is one of those reactions where I have a hard time not looking at the PiP instead of the guys reacting. Because it's such a good episode, especially the whole Zuko and Azula fight. The music and the animation and the silence of it all! It's breathtaking really. That being said, I can't believe this is over soon. :( Only monday left to go. Would be fun if there was some big "General thoughts" or Q&A video after this, but that's all up to what the crew has time with. Knowing what's going to happen, their discussion at the end is very interesting to listen to. And yay, me and Aaron had the exact same reaction when Katara just ran into frame again. Like WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE. Ah well. love this episode, and it was a really fun reaction. The Azula and Zuko discussion at the end is also really nice. I think there's a reason people act like they do, and we can understand Azula, but I don't think it's necessary to sympathize with her. She can be a great character without that. Both dreading and looking forward to Monday. See you guys on the other side. We're going into a time of no more Avatar reactions. :(

JojoInSpace

I don't think Eric likes the firebenders flying lol

Jude Miller

Nothing pisses Eric off more then ordering someone to clean their feet.

I really need to congratulate the director of this episode, the azula and zuko's fight is awesome and always makes me feel incredibly sad. If you think about it, that's a brother and sister fighting to the death, how sad is that? All because of a broken family structure, a absent mother and a magalomaniac father who uses his children for his own benefit. The choice of music is great for this, it's not epic battle music, it's just sad strings playing and the animation, of course, is amazing. And i know you guys don't find azula redeemable, but to me, she was never taught love, so she could never give any. She felt her mother didnt understand her and saw her as a monster, and her mother didnt stay long anyway. And her father never loved her, he just acknowledged her when she was useful. Zuko had iroh's love at least, and it was still hard to make him turn. Azula never really had Anyone, even her friends 'betrayed' her. It's not an excuse for her actions, but a humanization of her character. Sorry for the eventual bad english ;)

Jocta96

Three days is to long...

I'm so sad that the Avatar series is coming to an end :(

miss_hopefulsnail

Well I mean, the guys watched it all in one sitting. If you want to get the impact you can just rewatch all episodes yourself, or wait until all reactions are posted and watch them all in one go. :)

JojoInSpace

The fight between Zuko and Azula was the best fight of the entire series. I love how they had the Three fights going on just like in the End of Return of the Jedi. With the air battle with ships, Zuko vs azula, and Aang vs Fire lord.

Yeah, but ATLA is just a better show, so don't overhype it. I like Korra alot, but it has some issues, I don't think it's better at all even for an older audience.

Noah Hoorn

This should really have been one long Reaction.. the impact just dies out when you get pulled out just as the good parts are starting :(

My notes so far: - Azula in the throne room with blue fire as she's losing her mind - it looks pale and ill, and the shadows shut down on her like a tomb. I wonder if that's foreshadowing one of two outcomes for her demise: to ultimately lose her life by season's end, or just go completely insane? - The moment Sokka shielded Toph from debris as their airship was flying apart made me realize (and they've gone out of their way to not kill anyone off so far, yet still discuss the gravity of a life and losing it) that every single one of these side characters is EXPENDABLE. None of them HAVE to survive this finale. I am terrified. - The Play, so far, is staying accurate, oh god no - The sound-mixing for this show has always been great, but this is up there with "The Southern Raiders" and the horrific sound effects for Katara blood-bending the wrong man (uuggghh!). Particularly, where Ozai conjures the fire to start burning the Earth Kingdom has this shrieking sound that is both lovely AND terrifying. - Remember that episode with the pirates, and Iroh laughing at the end, saying that the Lotus tile he lost had been there the whole time? It may be a little bit of a stretch, but I wonder if that was implying/foreshadowing that the White Lotus has been indirectly pushing events into motion the whole time, too? - Azula and her Mother. Really think about this - she had to actively imagine that her mother was telling her that she loved her. I've always imagined that Zuko and Azula were products of two very different, but still purposeful methods of upbringing: Zuko, constantly being shut down and denied everything, but Azula getting everything she wants and spending a lifetime of no one ever telling her "NO". It makes "The Beach" episode especially tragic, as it's a look into the fact that Azula knows nothing but war, when she should be making real friends and enjoying childhood. She CAN'T form meaningful relationships with people; she could never have a normal life. And now, having realized that her father never actually loved her, but was using her and turned her into a monster from the start - there's no saving her...and now there's really only one way that this can end. This Agni Kai between them has such sad music behind it, and it IS sad, and makes you wonder what the hell happened to this family that a brother and sister have to fight this way. They shouldn't be trying to kill each other...none of this is their fault. - I've waited years to finish this series and see this finale. I have tissues and plenty of ice cream ready, but I don't think it's gonna help. :(

Sky Sirak

just upload it already guys :D

will always appreciate azula as a villain and fighter. doesnt mean i root for just that i acknowledge her skill and awesomeness

rickie woodson

First, I should say that this doesn't justify anyone's action, but I feel it is important to look at things from all angles. You say that both Zuko and Azula chose their own path, but is that entirely true? Azula was talented from birth and favored by Ozai, who encouraged ruthlessness. Zuko was pretty much ignored by their father because of his weakness, and was primarily taken care of by their mother, who was a much gentler person. After their mother left the Fire Nation, Zuko had Iroh. Zuko was mostly guided to the path that he is on now, and so was Azula. Given her only source of guidance (Ozai), how else could she have turned out. She was doomed to end up this way from the start. Again, this doesn't justify her actions, but I would say she can definitely be classified as a victim in all of this.

Alex Johnson

Last episode is going to be a blast, makes me so sad but atleast we have korra

Bert

They're still friends though...You can still give your life like that for a friend and knowing Zuko, this duel was supposed to be between him and Azula. No way is he going to let Azula kill Katara.

Lalisa Truong

awesome. I just love the music @ last agni kai!

Was zuko taking a massive hit of ligtning kinda a tribute too Zutara fans cause seems odd anyone would willingly take that kind of damage if didnt dig the girl.

Skeletor

Ha Ha! That look Calvin gives to the camera when Eric is giving his predictions at the end was great.

Chaos

Azula going Mad King over here...

Jude Miller

For those wanting a specific timestamp, it's at 20:40. And yeah, that face is like, "I know you (the audience) knows what really happens. I can't laugh right now, but know I'm doing it in my mind."

musical brass hit sfx. Hit it again! brass hit. Hit it 2 times! 2 musical brass stabs. Hit it four more times! 4 brass hits

"It's kind of like saying you don't believe, that, as human beings were not able to make our own choices in life" ... No. There is a difference between sympathizing and empathizing. Azula is a product of her upbringing. Influenced greatly by her father, and feeling neglected/unloved by her mother. You can acknowledge and recognize that she is in her own way a victim of terrible familial circumstances, while still completely acknowledging that her actions are despicable and wrong.

slvr572

The more I think about it, if you honestly do feel sympathy for Azula, it's kind of like saying you don't believe, that, as human beings were not able to make our own choices in life. We can't distinguish between what is morally right and wrong, that if we had a bad influence, then we must be the same way. That's the difference between Zuko and Azula, Zuko chose a different route after he saw and felt what was happening. Azula chose her path, and she does deserve the consequences of it.

Matthew

I think it's important to remember that this show was unable to outright say or show so many people dying. Of course people died in these battles, we the audience don't have to be outright told that the assume that. It's like sex in shows like this, we don't need to see it to know it happens. I think when they said aang never killed anyone they meant personally or by choice. People dying in the midst of the chaos of battle is different than personally killing someone. You can argue semantics for sure but I think that's all they're implying.

Voreni

Yeah, Azula was nuts by the end. The thing most people never seem to consider is how old these characters are, they seem like adults but most of them are still kids. Azula is only 14 years old at this point, anyone at that age would crack under the pressure

Logan Huntley

Remember too, azula may have been naturally talented, but she was going crazy and zuko had the dancing dragon training, so I think during that fight zuko was superior.

Not spoiling anything but there is a story after the show that is in a picture book/graphic novel type.

you don't need to feel sympathy for Azula lol i don't either, but u have to apreiciate her as a vilian :) imo...... i really believe she one of the most interesting out there and as that i love her <3

Matis

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEEEEEXT

Matis

I think reactions to Legend of Korra is almost a given at this point.

Travis Taylor

Ozai and Azula never planned to destroy the kingdom. It's far too big, even if they are powered up on the comet. And they would have started with a large population center rather than some wilderness far away from the civilization. They just wanted to burn a large swathe of uninhabited land as a show of strength. Hence crushing the Earth Kingdom's spirit.

Denis Safiev

liked the conversation about azula and zuko at the end. It's pretty cool, because although they turned out so differently . . . you have to wonder about nurture vs nature. If Ozai had liked Zuko more from the start and raised him to believe he was awesomesauce, Iroh and Ursa may not have been able to reach him. He wouldn't have had that rock bottom to help spur change, and he might have become desenitized to the Fire Nation's crappiness. It might have been a reversal of roles . . . but for the fact that Azula's firebending proficiency and brains impressed Ozai. Her being a prodigy kind of saved Zuko's soul, in my eyes. It was fated to turn out this way, so that his good heart could be exposed. And since they're a yin and yang, Azula was fated to get the shorthand: no friends now, no real fatherly love, no mom, and some insanity. EDIT: "Azula's drool. aaaghgh!" You guys are killing me! :D

justsomepancakes

Lets get the next episode now!!! Please!!

Jemima Savage

Korra did win that one Poll. But because it's a (for a lack of a better word) sequel, the victory went to the runner up Fullmetal Alchemist. But they did say that they will react to Korra once a week, after a short break

Belrevan

The fight between Zuko and Azula is my favorite fight in the series. The visuals, the beautiful background music, the choreography, it's the most amazing fight of this series I think.

Andrew Reise

Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai makes me emotional every time. The cinematography, the resounding nature of the music, brother against sister, it's so tragic and so beautiful at the same time.

Mina

While this is true for Azula, this is also true for any evil person that has ever existed. Something happened in their life that made them evil so are we supposed to feel sympathy for every scumbag? After a certain point you just can't be bothered to care about their circumstances since they are adults and can make their own decisions. Now don't get me wrong, I love Azula's character. Easily one of my top 3 characters in AATL because I like her character a lot. I like a lot of evil characters in shows if their development is good because I find their thought process fascinating and I life finding out about what happened in their life to make them the way they are. However I still feel no sympathy.

Tyler

are we going to get korra? i think korra is more for teenagers rather then kids. you guys will enjoy it more

CHMC

Also please start Legend of Korra as quickly as possible. It's a bit more mature and dark and I think you'll really like it.

I agree. Next episode asap!!

Has there ever been any confirmation that they will be doing Legend of Korra after this?

AlthosHol

Still a little disappointing that their is no sympathy for Azula, I'm happy they acknowledge the reasons why she is the way she is and why she has gone insane, but I just find her character development so intriguing and sad. Azula is the way she is because she has been raised by a psychotic evil father figure, no one is born evil but she was raised that way. Azula seems detached from almost all emotion and rules through fear because she learned from her father, when her mother left she was left in the hands of Ozai, and moulded into a weapon of destruction, a young Ozai, and nothing else. Yes she's cold and calculating but she's also vulnerable and harbours deep insecurities that rose to the top when she was betrayed by those she 'trusted' the most.

This is the episode I have truly been waiting for! The battle between zuko and azula is legendary

Greg Alan

Haha, Calvin's look at the camera while the rest are discussing the Aang/Ozai fight.

Jordan LeDoux
