Does it make me a horrible person that I enjoyed the sheer misery on their faces after this episode. Just the tableau of their faces after the episode screen went away was enough to make me laugh!!! Such a good reaction guys, exactly how I felt when I saw this episode. Granted I was like 8 when I saw this episode for the first time ;) I am so happy you're watching one of the animes I grew up on :)

I saw this years ago and memories of that thing have stuck with me a looong time. Everything about it is truly sad and disturbing. I hate that episode. I would have gladly never seen it if I could. SHANE I wanna hear more of what you thought about that episode. Thankfully the best cure is some good ol wholesome Avatar the Last Airbender so you're in luck.

Well personally I don't think any of the future episodes reach this level of dark themes thankfully. We got plenty of sadness, disturbing revelations, ect. But this episode is the darkest part of the series, in my opinion. And now it's behind us, be thankful. 😉

Most anime about adult themes are dark. Hellsing is a gore fest and there's cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell.

Actually, there are only 2 after credits scenes in the first "season", none in the second one, and none in the fifth (last) one, "season" 3 and 4 however, are cramped with post credits scenes. :)

There are after credits scenes. Not on every episode, but like, half of them, or so. First one is after episode 6, but after that, it's like every other episode, every third episode, something like that... and then after nearly every single episode in the final season.

Aaron got on the right track nearer the end of the discussion. It's about the soul. Tucker didn't really mess with Nina's soul, and presumably Alexander doesn't have one. So all he did was transmute Nina's body to incorporate Alexander's body. No need to touch the soul and therefore the bad things didn't happen.

I think it's more a testament to tucker's delusions than anything else. at the very least he believes what he did was justified to meet his end goal (being approved again to continue living stably) but he didn't really think what step 2 was in this 3 part plan. the fact that he and the brothers both performed human transmutation in some form is all he needed to justify his actions to himself

Tucker's comparing what he did to what Ed and Al did never really felt right. It's not the same: when you're an adult and aware of your actions and don't regret their actions vs naive children who aren't aware of what they're doing and do regret their actions. Yet the show seems a bit to proud in making that statement seem affecting and dramatic. At least the more I watched this scene the less those words broke through. It's less morally ambiguous and more a fallacious statement.
