I've played since Gen I, when I was young and could barely even really play it. I played Red until the battery in the cartridge died, probably more from being an irresponsible kid than play time. But I did put a lot of time into it. A while after that, I got Silver for Christmas. And I played that game more than most Generations. I had nostalgia for it all the time, and always remembered it fondly. I went back and played it recently. It's nowhere near as good as I remember. The same thing happened with Silver as did with the remake I played. The two regions idea is really cool and all, but the problem is that your team is only level 40 by the time you fight the Elite Four the first time. The leveling curve is non-existent, and if you're even SOMEWHAT training your team evenly, you'll end up stomping through 95% of the game, even if you're at a type disadvantage. Just about every battle, you'll OHKO everything. And I just don't enjoy that. Maybe I did when I was younger, but I thoroughly dislike that. The Red battle was amazing, despite all of this. It was a crazy thing, to fight yourself in the previous game, and that fight has been the best one in the entire series for me. Gen 3 was good, and didn't have any sort of problem like that. It felt like GF was going back to their roots. Gen 4 has the best champion of them all. Platinum holds a spot for being the hardest Pokemon game I've ever played. Gen 5 was quite forgettable, sadly. Gen 6 was awesome for being revolutionary for the series, but has also been pretty forgotten by me, since Gen 7 completely improved upon everything X and Y had wrong. Personally, my vote is stuck between 4 and 7

I was only into Pokemon until the first movie came out. Fuck everything during and after that.

For me, Gen III is when I started Pokemon as well as both FireRed and Emerald being the games that gotten into the series.

4, but that counts the remakes of 2. I mean, it it still counts Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, but still.

I started playing almost at the beginning--my first game was Yellow--but didn't really fall in love until Silver. But Gen IV is my favorite--they introduced my favorite 'mon, Torterra, great mythology, the awesomeness of the Distortion World, Team Galactic is deadly serious (frickin' terrorist bombings!), Giratina is probably my favorite legendary, AND you get the enhanced remakes of the previous best gen? Can't beat that.

4th, my favorite starter Infernape comes from there. Although my all time favorite Poke'mon in general is Onix from Gen1.

Eric Keatts

4th is best for me followed by 3rd then 7th

Gold and Silver Gen II , Heracross Scizor , Tyranitar, Kingdra. 16 gyms, 2 regions , epic battle vs Red.

Bellosom was the most beautiful pokemon! I loved seeing her in the movie

Daga Luv

Chickorita is my all time favorite Tsundere!

Jordan Brauer

Gen III because it has the Gen I remakes.

Gen 1 FTW

Gotta go with 4 because that was just the optimum age for enjoying Pokemon for me (mid elementary school). I remember bringing my DS to school and playing with all my friends on the bus, before class, and on the playground. Also, it brought back Pokemon following you with Heart Gold and Soul Silver (and even the main Gen 4 games to a much, much lesser extent).

Generation 2: "Once again, battle your way through the Hall of Fame by conquering the Elite Four. And when you do, hold on to your stupid hat as the entire region (Kanto) from the first game is unlocked with eight new badges to win and a mountain top duel against your character (Red) from the first game. Now that's how you make a sequel!"

Gen 4. Introduced much needed mechanics and got me back into Pokémon. Let's also not forget the intensive lore.

Gen 2 is my favourite because nostalgia. Gen 7 would definitely top the list if that wasn't a factor though.

Just saying Gen 1 cause I haven't spent any real time with the others

Vlad3163

Gen 7 changed so many things for the better such as the alolan forms, poke ride and island trial. It also has the most developed and darkest story of any pokemon game.

Kevin Echeverria

Gen 3. Running shoes changed the game.

KevinFromNewYork

Gen 6 alpha saphire

Unova!!!

I'm currently playing through FireRed and I'm enjoying it quite well. I have Blind Wave to thank, Aaron's streams specifically, for making me want to play the game to begin with.
