i'm not sure, that snapshot looked to me like Iroh playing with Zuko and Lu Ten.

This is 1 of my favorite episodes because it develops Zuko, Mai, Ty Lee and Azula as characters. I am pretty upset that you just glossed over Azula as being irredeemable and just evil. She's evil but she's also a normal teenager which this episode showed. The flashback you thought was Iroh was actually Zuko's father. I love the entire campfire scene and its great that it's like the Breakfast Club. It really helps us understand these 4 characters and shows the villainous characters in a different light. The acting is also really great and very impressive. Also when Azula made the funny comment after her serious moment it's obvious at least to me that she was deflecting the attention away from herself and the possibility of how truthful it was. The final scene is literally my favorite ending of an episode in this show. I'm glad you are at least not hating on Azula as much. Also it's not confirmed even now but most people think the guy with the 3rd eye uses combustion bending. Loved the reaction as always. :-)

Azula's brush off shows how much she really doesn't want to talk about it. She's still unredeemable but there's reasons for that, she ain't evil for shits and giggles, there's a method to the madness, and her environment shaped her JUST like it shaped Zuko, who had his loving mother, and Iroh at his side for 3 years btw, something that is very overlooked when judging these 2 characters.

The social psychology of teenagers that showed up in Zuko, Mai, Ty Lee and even Azula is something very nuanced and takes effort to understand. Frankly it is something that is not often talked about with the respect it deserves in society especially considering they are underaged. The idea of "teenage drama" is a form of deflection that is used far too often that diminishes the weight and depth teenage psychology carries with it.

Azula is not sane or normal, she displays that she has no social ability beyond when she is ruling over people. Its sorta sad. I also never believed that she didn't care that her mother thought she was a monster. She has a lot of walls put up. The drive that she has to succeed is so strong in her. Look at the way she over analyzed that girl in volleyball and wanted to destroy them.

this was a great episode as it Humanises the charcters and moves Zukos story forward as well as introduces such a cool villian - stick with Azula she isn't ever going to be as human as Zuko but they do a very interesting thing with her!

Sorry, but I don't see how introducing a new villain, and developing some characters can be considered as filler. Smh!

So far as you watched, she's this f***ed up psycopath that we're not supposed to feel any sympathy for, kind of a character we love to hate, but for the right reasons.

The episode was really about seeing the 'Villains' as what they really are, their still kids, the same as Aangs group, just from an antagonistic perspective. They still have the same issues as every other teenager, relationships, jealousy etc. It's really about getting to know the antagonists a little bit more so their not just 'the villains', they are people too.

Now for the "Breakfast Club" episode!

I feel like this episode is for some character development of the people we see as villains. It shows that they are still people and not just forces of evil. Even Azula said that her mother loved Zuko more than her, maybe that factors into the way she turned out.
